Fans of Tolkien, REJOICE! For i have made... THIS HERE THING and it is... um...TOLKIENY!

I did actually figure out that this song plays in the credits of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, which is why i didn't know where it played in the movie because if you're anything like me, you found yourself assaulted by someone cutting onions at the end of that film and honestly missed the song.

These things happen.

Anyway, i'm still washing black airbrush paint out of my hair and my ears and the hair on my ears, so enjoy that metal image while you enjoy the actual image on the screen.

Thanks for everything, but especially your patience while i waded through 3 weeks of sickness to get this completed. OH, and we can all blame Kathy for this one if it's terrible. If it's great, you can blame me.

ZAYRAY!

Called that one 🤣

Rachel P.

Thank you to Kathy for making Geoff do this one!!!

Dolly Geotes

This was an amazing and beautiful video Thank You for doing it

Rachel P.

So many brain-buzzing lows and incredible harmonies in this one, definitely an awesome addition to the Hobbit/LOTR saga!!

Ashley Evers

You didn't realize the boxes of snow would give this away so much, but I'm glad you got to it either way 🥰 We all know to blame Kathy for all your best decisions 🤣

Doyne

Lucky for Kathy that this is wonderful, so no blame attached! Thanks, Kathy (and Geoff)! Glad that you are finally well once again.

MJS

Excellent

Édua Elster

I‘m shaking and tears run down my Face! Thank You! 😭😭😭

Cloudy Skies

I am so glad that Kathy pushed you. This is absolutely gorgeous. Thank you!

Ruth Feiertag

I’m sorry you’ve been ill. Being under the weather is usually pretty miserable. Thanks to your abs Kathy both for making this happen. I only saw the first Hobbit movie — I didn’t care for some of the choices that were made — so this song was new to me. It seems a fitting finale to the series. And listen to you sing, Geoff, is always a thrill. I hope you and yours are all healthy and stay that way.

Eliz Brown

🥹🔥🎶🔥 Thank you for this

Latte Lover

You sound amazing in this, Geoff! Would never have guessed from the beauty of your voice that you’d been sick. P.S. Please thank Kathy!!!!

Jenn Maples

I am such a huge Tolkien and Billy Boyd fan, this is a dream come true!!!!! You did amazing 🤩 I love it sooo much. Thank you!!!

Daniel Anderson

Another Hobbit Song!!! I love the Hobbit Trilogy and your Dwarven songs are my favorite Geoff! I am so excited for this video, and am so interested to hear your version!! I'm sure it will be great, I blame you! 😅

Dame Valiant

A beautiful ending to the LOTR/Hobbit serie. The harmonies at the end were so, so beautiful... Thank you Kathy for pushing for this one and THANK YOU Geoff for making it happen even while sick and probably extremely tired. It was a beautiful gift for the fans!

Marie Galaxy

I haven’t known any of the “Hobbit” songs, but like them very much done by you. When people suggested that you might be doing “The Last Goodbye” I looked it up to listen to it. My thought after doing so was, “meh”. BUT, I figured, as per usual, I would end up loving what you did with it and boy! do I ever! Thank you for perservering through the sickness. Just shows how great your voice and talent really is! It’s just beautiful!!

Eileen Parkman

The harmonies, as always, were just so very lovely

Karen & Lauren

yup. that was good metal imagery. (had to go there, cause typos are typos).... and add that the sword did successfully only reflect snow.

Brenda Qualls

Gives me chills listening to it. Loved it.

Sarah Borzelli

Wow, Geoff, what a gorgeous piece again! I love the sound carpet you've woven throughout — the bass or cello at the beginning, and the build-up and drop towards the end are great. I love how it massages your tear ducts and calms you down at the same time. And there it is: Geoff's talent for giving sad songs a hopeful, glorious twist. I love that! Your vocals at the beginning are so soothing! The visuals are beautiful: the snow looks real, and the lighting is gorgeous. The backdrop is perfect. The wind is a great effect too! I like that the dwarves have dirt on their faces, you maked them look like they have been through a lot! You also upped the game on the costumes. Bravo! Did I forget to breathe for a while there? Yes! And there's always someone cutting onions, bruh! THANK you for another gorgeous song I will listen on repeat! Also...what's the hair care routine for ear hair?

B Sprak

Of the four dwarves (Bofur, Kili, Thorin, and Fili) present in this video, I think Geoff is the best! A Last Goodbye to Thorin, Fili, & Kili who died in that battle. Bofur survived, bless him, despite that ridiculous hat he'd wear periodically.

Marna Brown

This time I cried. From the start to the finish. Don't know if I was remembering the film ending or just feeling the tone of the song, but I cried... and cried.

Manasi Kane

I’m glad Kathy convinced you to do this one , Geoff ❤️ To say nothing about the wonderful arrangement choices and the lovely visuals, just that build and release at the end - I realised I was holding my breath throughout that part😅 I’m currently in over-stimulation heaven - jaw on floor though , I’ll be there for sometime I think ! Edit: Collected myself enough to read your description - the black airbrush paint on your ear hair really sells the look - so , that was a great idea 🤣

Robert

Loved it!!!

Susana

Geoff, have some rest please! you need it, thank you so much for this beautiful video while having been sick. Kathy knows Geoff... she knows which song to choose (Remember, Carol of the bells - I love it) and Kathy knows about costumes. Thank you for sharing your voice and your time with all of us, it is a pleasure to listen to your voice.

Jonna J

Ever since I guessed that this is going to be the next song, I've been listening to the original and learning to play it on the piano. Since the original is so great, I figured there is no way to surpass it, but I was completely wrong. Many thanks to Kathy for making sure that the dwarves come back for this one.

Susana

Everything he sings is so perfect for us! Hi, Marie!! I couldn't even greet you on the chat, it was too quick.

Susana

Hi, Dolly. It was nice to meet you on the chat.

Barbara Shuman

Aw Geoff, you make me cry with the beauty of this. You've truly outdone yourself. Maybe the original didn't stick with you, but this song coupled with your beautiful voice will stick with me forever. Thank you, Kathy, for pushing him to finish it, and thank you, Geoff, for your remarkable work.

Kimberley McKenzie

This is one of my favorite songs from the hobbit trilogy and you did a great job with it. Beautiful harmonies and amazing lows. Superb job as usual Geoff 💖

Maria Moore

That was beautifully movingly had goosebumps from start to finish and the dogs were cute also

B Sprak

This is absolutely gorgeous. Haunting, beautiful, and epic. You have a way of infusing emotion into music with your arrangements. The harmonies were breathtaking. Thank you for another stunning piece of music!

Nathan Wahl

Okay, that does it. Over the top. Perhaps your best ever!!!! I might comment more later when I come back to my senses. Can't wait for the backing track to try this one!!!!!!!

Susan Pratt

I don't know why you doubt yourself, Geoff. This was beautiful!!!

Dee

When first heard this song over a decade ago, I was going through a divorce. Despite the fact that the marriage was extremely toxic, I still blamed myself for the failure. Then I heard this song and broke down crying. It was just another journey. One that I would learn and grow from. Thank you for giving the song new life. While it still reminds me of that time, it doesn’t hurt anymore. 🙂

Gretchen G

Thanks Kathy! Thanks Geoff! This sounds incredible! 🩵🩵🩵

Nickolas Oneschuk

That was so amazing Geoff. Thank you Geoff and Kathy do your efforts to make this masterpiece, we love you both.

Jill Peterson

This was completely beautiful. I'm not sure if your timing is perfect or if if it's really bad. My family just said our final goodbye to my aunt, while my Dad is in hospice. Now I'm a complete mess again. But it was a beautiful rendition, so thank you for sharing your talents.

Dawn Jones

Never seen a hobbit movie but that was pretty! Really nice!

Talbot

Mine was the eleventy-first 'like' and that pleases me, Tolkien fan that I am, but this song does more than please. I ADORED it. It's the perfect coda for our dwarves and my heart is breaking. 💔

Sue Armstrong

That was beautiful! Thank you for struggling through it all to get it done, I appreciate it. Now, don't catch any more germs this year!

Talbot

Same. I made it through the first movie but not the others so the music is new to me, too. New and fabulous!

Zoie McIntyre

Geoff, that was incredible - thank you so much! What an amazing finish to the series. You really had to struggle through this and dealing with that darn snow is not easy. It was amazing though - you must be so happy. Thank you Kathy for pushing him <3

ObscureReferenceWoman

Oh, tears in my eyes. Wonderful as always. Thanks to Kathy for the push to get ‘er done, and thanks you you for doing it so beautifully. And thanks to the pups for comic relief!

Ruth Feiertag

Actually, Geoff and VP introduce me to so much music I never would have discovered on my own.

Lady D Richter

I'm not usually fond of anything "Tolkieny," unless it's "The Tolkien" coffee from PRESSED in Lakeland, FL. But I REALLY liked "The Last Goodbye." The round or echo (I'm not sure what it's considered) part was beautiful. I feel like it should be repeated if you ever decide to retire.

Bill

You saved the best for last!! Solid, brother!! G, I've been a musician for over 50 years so when I give up a compliment it's got some history behind it. Absolutely gorgeous arrangement and vocals. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 I also love Tolkein and the LOTR books and finally the music. Thank you for sharing your gifts!

Janis M Carney

Must have something in my eyes. Serious Tolkien fan since first US publication in the 60's. Even named my daughter Lorien. Your arrangement so perfectly fits the song, such a heart-wrenching farewell. Just beautiful. Thank you for enduring the makeup. Kathy knows.

Bob Gray

I guess we have to blame you and thank Kathy. That was awesome.

Lynn M

Geoff, Misty Mountain Cold started my journey with your music, and if this is the end, then this is a fabulous Last Goodbye. The rumbles throughout, and then the harmonies at the end gave me shivers. Thank you for all the heart and work you put into this. And to Kathy, thank you for your encouragement to do this, and for all of the hard work you do as well.

Lynn M

So sorry for your loss.

Rachel Dempsey

Not going to lie I was super excited thinking this was the Jeff Buckley song Last Goodbye (definite suggestion for a future song suggestion as it’s one of my FAVOURITES and I would be keen to see Geoff’s take on it) but this was great too! So beautiful! A lovely rounding off song to end the tetralogy (? 😂).

Spacer_J

Ahh, this will be a new favorite of mine to sing along to 🎶 Knocked it out of the park as usual, Geoff! Thanks to both you and Kathy for your dedication and great work👍

Chani McCoy

Beautiful! Thank you so much for doing the thing!

Rachel Dempsey

Also Tommy and Oakleigh are so like my two doodles Auggie and Gibbs. Auggie is so chill and quiet and Gibbs is so toy in your face always on the movie hyper boy. I feel like Auggie/Tommy would roll their eyes 🙄 at Gibbs/Oakleigh if they could 😂😂😂

Suzy Bailey

That was simply beautiful! A lovely song to end the series. Thanks Kathy and of course you too Geoff! 😊💜

Silv E

Oh gods ... this hit me so hard. All that beauty and hope and sadness. I need to sit with this for a while before I have an intelligent comment (only maybe 40 listens in, after all...). But I feel like it's the perfect time for this, and it will bring a lot of people comfort in that way you do so well - just magnificent, Geoff. And worth the wait (of course!). Sweet dreams!

Amanda Nott

I'm not familiar with the song, but you did a wonderful job!

Silv E

"so enjoy that metal image " well ... black airbrush paint IS pretty metal

Joyce Miller

This is beautiful! You and Kathy both deserve the credit!

Carol Franklin

See I said it’d be worth waiting for. Oh Geoff I know I’m biased because obviously I think you’re brilliant but you have a way of making these songs so much more emotional as well as just sounding bloody good!! 🌟

Ellen L Brownell

Thank you for this wonderful rendition of one of my favorite LOTR songs. I always need a box of tissues nearby while listening to it.

David R Campbell

Beautiful. That said the two arrows reversed threw me off.

Helen D

Wow, beautifully done! I appreciate you and all the hard work you have put in to get this one done, what with the being ill and all. This sounds amazing and looks fab. Thank you Geoff and Kathy 👏👏👏❤😊

Debs Badger

While I am not the fanatical Tolkien fan that some others are, I think you've done a wonderfully fantastic job with this song, and it is an absolutely beautiful way to close this chapter in your ouevre (if you choose to do so). Bravo.

Jen

Attack of the onions indeed that culprit just struck again. This one will stay with you

Maggie S

Crying right from the start. The initial wave of energy was palpable...and kept up through out the masterpiece. Most Excellent. Thank you, Geoff and Kathy.

Sharon Bapp

Love it! You and the Tolkien style were met for each other. I don’t know the song but it has a softer sound to it. I wonder if the instrumentals in the background really need to be that loud? I find it detracts from your beautiful voice. Just my opinion but I love being able to hear and enjoy the richness and timber of your voice.

Sharon Bapp

So beautiful. I do love it and will be replaying it often. Can’t wait for Peter Barbers analysis of it

Martina Kraft

Waking up to this is a perfect start of the day. First few notes and I'm in middle earth. Great. Hope i can share soooooon😉

Penny Cummings

This is just so beautiful. It brings tears to my eyes. Amazing job!

Diary and Poetry

WWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW Way to start the day. Thank you. This is so amazing

Maria Rydström

This is such a beautyful song Geoff. I love it very much and you and Kathy have done a fantastic job❤️

Jeanette Pencz

The dwarves are back. And I wasn’t ready 😭 I am speechless (like Oakley and Tommy). Sooo heartbreaking beautiful ❤️ Your voice is such a gift to the world Geoff. Thank you for this wonderful cover of the song. And a big thank you to Kathy 🤗

Angelika Bock

So haunting - I was not prrepared...Thank you!

Amber

Ooh yay another dwarves song!!! This was amazing! So.... Kathy gets all the credit, right? 🤣

Cécile Roussey

I need to recover from my emotions... I cried because it’s so beautiful... <3 like right now. thank you Geoff <3

Annnnnnnik

So sorry for your loss Jill, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family 🫂

Annnnnnnik

Thank you Kathy so much for pushing Geoff through this! It's an amazing piece, always makes me a little emotional and this version did it so much justice. Awesome lows, fabulous harmonies, just what I would expect from a cover of yours G. I love this and I admire the dedication that comes with all the costumes. Beautiful work! Wish you both to stay in good health 🫶

Tine

I am not familiar with this song at all, but this was beautiful! Love the setting and backdrop as well. What a lovely way to end this series.

Cécile Roussey

I am worried about your 3 weeks of illness, and I hope you haven’t suffered too much and that you are better. You must think of yourself too because we, we can very well wait and understand you... Don’t forget to take care of yourself especially, okay?

Carina Rödebäk

I can't see the preview, and I should at my level of membership. It's only black for me.

Holly G

Oakley panting sounds must be utilized on a future Geoff creation....

Pixy P

Absolutely incredible 💖 what a thing to wake up to first thing. It's going to be so difficult waiting to share this with people 💖

Blue Raven

What a stunning piece of art! I’m honestly amazed again and again by the incredible things you manage to create — and this time, you’ve completely ignored what humans are supposed to sound like when they’re under the weather. How is it even possible to be sick and make something sound like this?! That’s just unfair. 😄 I watched the video in the early hours when it aired, and it actually followed me into my dreams (rude, but impressive). Now that it’s morning and I’ve listened to it again — yeah… it really is that good. “Captivating” might actually be the better word. ✨ If I were to offer the tiniest bit of critique: I’m not the biggest fan of when the top of the head gets slightly “cut off” in shots where it doesn’t really seem necessary. In this format, it happens a couple of times during some of the close-ups (that aren’t that close). It’s a very small thing and absolutely not worth spending time or energy on correcting — just something my brain decided to notice. 😄 But overall… we’re definitely looking at yet another little masterpiece — and it's quite frankly starting to feel like a habit. 😉 And thank you to both of you. It’s so nice knowing Kathy is there to pressure you into creating stunning masterpieces. 😄 Now go take a well-deserved 30 minutes of rest and a good cup of coffee ☕ — you’ve more than earned it. 💙

ChazyUK

So sorry Jill for all you are going through : )

Jaezrar

Oh wow, that gave me chills all over! This was incredible ^^ And seeing the doggos is always a bonus. Even if they have nothing to say and just are their cute selves lol. Glad you feel better!

Lenka Z.

Oh my... didn´t see that one coming. :) And I didn´t think anyone could beat the version of this song from Dan Vasc. Well, I was wrong, apparently. :) I love how inventive are your arrangements, Geoff. But is it just me, or do the dwarves look a bit different this time? I´m not complaining, just noticing. :) Anyway, great work. And a big THANK YOU to Kathy for being such an inspiration. ;)

ChazyUK

I have never watched a Hobbit or LOTR film so I really don't have any reference points, I didn't need any though. As long as the piece of music, the song, takes me on a journey where I get the story its telling, it works for me and Geoff with this song everything worked and worked so amazingly well. I love it, you told that story with your heart and soul, well done : )

Helen D

So sorry for your loss. 😔🫂

Sarah Borzelli

Now that my brain is somewhat coherent again I wish to add that I enjoy your way of editing so much! The way you underline changes in the music with a cut and a zoom out and a change of lighting is so well done! Only tiny critique on very high level would be the transition when you sing "many places I have been" there you change to a close cut and the blue light changes only a bit after that. That feels a bit unintentional, to me. But I guess there's no way to change that and it's only something I noticed after watching...uhm...several....times. ...and have I mentioned how much I enjoy the build and the harmonies? Gorgeous!

Leigh D

My favourite Hobbit song by my favourite bass dwarf and his bretheren. My life is complete and I can die happy 🥰 WELL WORTH THE WAIT ❤️

Miran Tideturner

Sounds familiar, it might be something on your end. Can you please check if it works on different platforms (PC, phone via browser / patreon app) when you click on the post directly? I had that problem on mobile when some old junk data messed with patreon and ended up blocking videos. Clearing cache and re-prompting the cookie selection dialogue fixed it. (Desktop always worked for me.) I hope that will help!

PetraH

Ohhhh wow, this is so beautiful, sad, capturing the emotions and the story perfectly! It turned out brilliantly! 🥰 I love the beginning so much, and the lighting, that as always, fits so well, and the beautiful harmonies. I watched the original and I think it is exactly as you said: it is fine. But now it is Geoff‘ed and turned into the most amazing beautiful version. Thank you Geoff and extra big thank you to Kathy for pushing!!! PS: so happy that you are happy PSPS: so many snowflakes in these Party Goat boxes?

Leigh D

Geoff, have you ever been told you're on someone's celebrity pass list. You have now. But, unlike the usual celebrity pass of cheating on my husband, I would like to be a short-term stalker. I'd love to sit in a corner and watch you record in your studio and watch you record the video - all live and uncut. All of my celebrity passes are on a similar vibe. I don't want the mess, I just want to watch the pure artistry at work

Carina Rödebäk

Thanks, it suddenly worked now for me as I checked again at your answer. Didn't see the invite to the hidden premiere either, until this morning, after the occurence, which have never happened earlier. Something has been amiss, which have somehow righted itself.

Christine

This was magnificent. Such beautiful words sung with such emotion and poignancy. Thank you Geoff for giving us this experience and thanks Kathy for making him dress up again!

Filiz E

As a Tolkien fan, this made me soo happy!!🥰🥰 So worth the wait! Thank you Kathy and Geoff!!

Angela Scheiber

So fricking good! Maybe the sickness was well utilized to look kind of defeated, it's perfectly fitting

Loralei Dragon

This came out beautifully! There's a reason the shirts we sent told you to listen to Kathy

Geoff A

Magnificent finish to the series! But now I'm possessed with the intense desire to see Geoff take on another iconic fantasy role, and do "The Song of the White Wolf" from the Witcher.

Jen A AKA Dravengal

Yay! I had no idea we'd see the dwarves again! What a fitting send-off! Love it! Always listen to Kathy!💚

Ariel Tachna

I have been waiting for this. I knew it would be amazing and heartbreaking at the same time and of course that’s exactly what it was. Thank you for wrapping up the series with this gem.

Sigrid Verlaan

AGAIN IN THE COLD AND WINDY! Great stuff, though :-)

Suzann Harris

Oh my . . . I so needed a good cry this morning . . . Beautiful . . . Just beautiful, Geoff! Thank you . . .

Emma Yadkin

This is well worth the wait. I think you'll be glad you listened to Kathy, you even have a shirt to remind you to listen to Kathy.

Lizzy Hite

I love this so much—The Last Goodbye might be my favorite of the movie credits songs, and this version is incredible!

Grand Nagus

Thank you! I'm still trying to get the tears to stop flowing, but I was so worth it. So out of left field, this one, now. I have to agree with others here: Always listen to Kathy!! Looking forward, as always, to the BTS for this one!!

Ashley Evers

I’ve been listening to this trying to pin down something that is bugging me. There is something extra buzzy about a lot of this song, and not just in the good bass buzz kind of way. I’ve been comparing how it sounds on my external desktop speakers vs good headphones vs less good headphones, and on the good headphones I think I can actually hear that at least part of it is something in the instrumentation. In the headphones it feels like it’s probably intentional, if a bit odd, but when I try to play it through my speakers, or even less good headphones, the result is that sounds like that kind of buzz you get when your speaker is going bad and the whole song feels a bit fuzzy? I know that you usually optimize for headphone listening, but I’m wondering if this time it would be worth giving it a listen or two on a less high fidelity system, just to make sure the effect is still what you are going for.

Ashley Evers

To be clear, it is otherwise absolutely beautiful. I especially love everything in your mid-range, totally stunning. And the make-up/costuming is peak, you've made me genuinely concerned about how beat up Kili looks, and I love the changes to reflect the end of the series.

Amy Murray

I think you got the blame backwards there Geoff! Kathy gets the good blame, Geoff gets the bad blame. We can't upset the Queen! Hi Oakley! Now darn it, who's cutting those onions??? I know it looks like I'm crying, but really, it's the onions! Beautifully done, Geoff...beautifully done. Not that I expect any less from you.

Swan

the costumes really get better with every iteration! And as always, this song makes me weep. Sooo thanks for that ;)

Happy Leaf

Ooooh my...the tears keep falling. Beautiful.

Cloudy Skies

So, after watching this a ... umm ... *few* times, I notice that hair sprayed black is less flowy than hair not sprayed. 😁

ChazyUK

Ashley I think it’s fab when Patrons like yourself point out these things, Geoff does ask for pointers from us, I think it’s great you took the time to do what you did with the speakers etc 😊

Ashley Evers

I wanted to make sure I was really pointing out something that might be an overlooked issue and not just an artistic choice 🤣 It wouldn't be the first time he's put in sounds that make you think maybe your speakers are dying, this time was just more distracting for me 🤣

Mark Armstrong

Thank you Kathy for giving Geoff the kick in the butt that he needed, we all had our ( eyes ) crossed that he"d finish the series with this one .

Marie DesJardin

I noticed the same thing. Start to finish, the sound is a bit buzzy

Marie DesJardin

31 minutes later -- Back to work!!! 🤪

Marie DesJardin

* chases the gremlins from Carina's system *

Ashley Evers

Maybe Geoff wanted us to experience audible snow along side the visual 🤣

Marie DesJardin

What a gorgeous video! It creates a whole mood, lovely, somber, kind and loving. Thank you for the care and artistry you bring to each song. Hugs to all your family, including the dogs

Ceri-Ann Rees

Love it this is my all time favourite song from the hobbit/lord of the rings series

Joyce Miller

It does start out black. Did you wait long enough?

Jonna J

I don't know if it's related, but I noticed that both on tv and headphones the sound in general was louder once the music video part started.

Jamie T.

Beautiuful! The four part harmonies in this sent chills through me. I've actually never read or seen any of the Hobbit/LOTR books or movies but I've enjoyed every one of your songs. I See Fire is still one of my favorites of all your songs. As usual, Kathy was right - thank you Kathy!

Loralei Dragon

That's interesting, I'm not hearing anything that sounds buzzy to me. A bit more breathiness than usual in G's tone, and some strings and piano that overlap where G is singing more than usual - but nothing buzzy. I wonder if it really is dependent on the speaker?

Tova

Beautiful and mesmerizing. True talent + hard work = such a special, haunting result. Thank you Geoff, and Kathy!

Tracy K

This is gorgeous... as usual. My only (v. minor) complaint is that it's sometimes a little too dark to clearly see you all.... but, I have *really* crap eyesight, so it may just be me. BTW, "metal image"??? Do you mean "mental image"? Take some time off and relax now. You deserve it. Yet another brilliant 'thing'. 💕💕💕💕

Carina Rödebäk

I most certainly did. Let's blame the gremlins and be thankfull it now works and I have been able to watch it several times.

Manasi Kane

Same Loralei, I didn’t hear anything especially buzzy except the distortion that is on some instrumentation. I did notice I had to lower the volume, in general on the whole video though.

Talbot

'The Hobbit' BOOK is stellar, if you ever want to give Tolkien a chance start there.

Talbot

No buzzing here either and my headphones are decent but not high-end. I know what you mean about peculiar sounds, though. The incidental noises in G's Sound of Silence made me think a truck was idling outside my apartment. (Not a bad thing! I was just a 'lil confused.)

Jonna J

I got curious, so I recorded the video to audio via loopback and pulled it up in audacity to check for clipping, and I couldn't see any except in one single microsecond spot where the drum kicks in hard around maybe midpoint, which is quite typical effect afaik. There was some audio distortion last night on the live preview, but it was gone on 2nd listen, so I guess that was just YT buffering. I tested both on my good headphones, and my soundbar and then also on tv, I can't really hear anything, but I'm not always good at hearing details, so don't mean this to dismiss you.

Mia

I am spellbound every single time I watch and listen to this. From being extremely voice led, to having the orchestration bursting its bonds towards the end. And the grizzly lullaby style works so well to create the feeling of intimacy. Truly beautiful.

Ashley Evers

To clarify for other people looking for what I'm talking about, for most of the song its not really identifiable as a separate sound, it just sounds like I'm playing it on worse speakers than I am. When I listen on airpods I *can* find a separate sound, especially right at 3:30, it's like he's got cicadas in there or something. But most of the time it's like an undercurrent. It definitely *does* depend on the speakers you're using, but my speakers are decent, and I notice it wherever I just play it, so it's not just that my speakers are actually dying or something.

Carolyn Bryant

Thanks for pushing through. The artistry is greatly appreciated! I can't imagine trying to create this while sick. Gratitude!

Alison L

Beautiful, well worth waiting for, thank you

KorKnot

Thank you, Kathy, for pushing for this to be done. Thank you, Geoff, for doing the work. Thank you, Thomas & Oakley, for being there. *tear-filled smiling face* *applause*

Grace Files

Wow geoff this was gorgeous, you really did such an amazing job with this song. It honestly made me a bit emotional😅 I honestly am at a loss for words, this was just pefect. Thank you so much for continuing to make amazing covers like this❤️

Christopher Sparks

Geoff, Thank you so much for the tremendous time and energy you put into every piece of art you produce for your fans. You are appreciated more than you'll ever know. Obviously there are some pieces I like more than others, but to my knowledge you have never put out a bad product, or even a mediocre one. One bit of advice, please remember to take plenty of time for yourself and your family now and then, to keep that family bond fresh and as tight as it can be. And this is my personal belief, however I really wish were all peoples. Keep Jesus Christ in the center of your life and family. I wish you and your family prosperity, good health, and all the best in your future endeavors. God Bless

Ginia (gin-ya)

I need a CD of all 4 songs so I can play them repeatedly in the car. :)

Dorothie Hellman

This is so moving. It's reall7 beautiful. Thanks Geoff.

Delila Hall

Not a Tolkien fan but this is GORGEOUS. Thank you for broadening my horizons.

Broken.Warrior

Superb as usual!!!! I would expect nothing less. I do blame Kathy for busting your chops to get this done. Behind every successful man is an extraordinary woman and Kathy fits the bill! You guys are incredible human beings. I wish I had a modicum of the talent you posses for bringing joy to the masses, but alas, my greatest talents are unfortunately the opposite of yours. Never stop doing what you love, your the best there is. God Bless.

Diane Holland

I agree with everything that others have said. It is a beautiful song and video. Thank you for putting the image of you washing black paint out of your hair. Now whenever I see a black smudge, I think of you. 🤣

Marna Brown

I don't even know what to say. From the fantastic bts, (which really opened my eyes to what all and how y'all do pull off these amazing masterpieces) to the video itself I just don't think like I can say what I am feeling. Not to mention working on this level when you are sick!! When I get sick like this I don't even know my name and can't function at all, it's incompréhensible to me. The scenery to costumes, to the actual music and lyrics and all the little details to create the magic I am just left with my mouth hanging open. You both have such jobs to do and the fact you do it SO well and SO fast just doesn't compute for me. I love LOTR and I could not remember this song! I love am glad I am getting to hear it and know where it came from. I have to watch this last movie again. I am going to wait until my head clears up and I will watch this again for sure, prob 10 or 20 times and really not miss most of it and just enjoy it. Thanks to both of you for all your hard work so we could have this! You are the best! You are loved and valued!🥰🤗❤️❤️❤️

So much talent, energy and love goes into your videos. I’m constantly blown away by them. I’m a little sad though because we won’t be seeing these hobbits anymore 😞

Ok well, I'm flat out bawling after that! So exquisitely beautiful and achingly sad at the same time. It was the perfect song to retire the dwarves, but that still makes me so sad! I am SO glad Kathy stuck to her guns and pushed you to do this one, and I'm so glad you are willing to listen to such a wise woman. You are a lucky man, and she is a lucky woman! That's all just part of why we love y'all so much! Thanks for enduring so much to see this one to fruition!

Wow, try to tone down that effusiveness, would ya?! LOL Your tepidly marginal response might go to his head. SMH!

Well, I for one am glad that you paid your dog tax. I was worried you were going to mention Oakley and not give us our fix. But, in the end, you came through. And that's really all that matters. :) Oh, and the video was, like, fantastic, as usual, I guess. :)

I’m probably the only person left who has not seen any of the Hobbit movies but I loved this video! It was so emotional and achingly beautiful. I’m so glad you decided to do it.
