This, the last music video of the year from me, is one that i hope will put the feels precisely and directly in your hearts. If you've never heard "High and Dry" before (which would be surprising, but not everyone shares my musical tastes) may i kindly suggest that you seek out the original track from Radiohead at some moment in the near future and enjoy the genius that is Thom Yorke. Apparently he recorded the vocals for the song while completely drunk and slumped in a corner of the studio. I wasn't there, so I can't speak to the truth of that story, but I can tell you that I was sober as the pope when I recorded these vocals because i needed every ounce of my wits about me to make it happen. You'll see why shortly.

Thank you so much for allowing me to experiment with different styles and genres like this, you have all been an incredibly patient, kind, and open minded audience, and it makes my heart smile to see so many other folks out there enjoy the things we've created here together. I'll never make the misstep of believing that I'm an island - you all give me more than you can ever know.

Thank you for being here and I can't wait to see what you think.

Zara (ZAYRAY!)

This is beautiful. Seriously beautiful. Random question. What size are your feet? Your shoes are giant... 🤣

KJayhawks27

OH.... MY....... GOD.... that song fits your voice so well I cried as soon as you got to the chorus you are definitely in your prime and will be for years to come

Stacy K

Wow. I truly enjoyed that. Nice job!!!

Name

This is lovely and wonderful, thank you!

Raven Winters

This is amazing to me. And you never cease to put a smile on my face during a stressful day. 😇

Tina Larson

I actually cried with this! Good tears, though, I promise! I have no words to describe how that song made me feel. Very rarely do songs bring me to tears, but your take on it and the emotions in your voice did it for me. I very proud and impressed with this. I so loved it. Thank you so much. Please keep up the wonderful work. Have a wonderful and Happy New Years!

Tabby Livingstone

That was incredible!! Hearing your voice in such a different range was just so eye opening on just how talented you are. Thank you for the wonderful song

Tylor Paulson

Woah!! I love this rendition of this song. It's an emotional song and you nailed it! I really like that you chose a song a little out of the norm for you. A song you put your soul and emotions into. You can definitely tell this song means a lot to you.

Alaethea (Ali)

I haven't heard this song in *years*, I'll have to show my brother this when it comes public! See now, this is why we told you just to do whatever called to you, because it comes through in the music. Keep on experimenting- we love it!

Katie D

I'm speechless Geoff, that was amazingly beautiful 🥺💗 I've only heard this song once or twice before, your voice is incredibly well suited for it! Thank you so much for this. I'm sorry you were sick, glad you're feeling better! Happy New Year to you, Kathy, and William! 💖

Dominique

Fabulous, just fabulous! You are the gift that keeps on giving. Amen

Tracie Schlaak

Truly a beautiful song. It makes me so happy to help support you in what you really love to do. Can’t wait for the next one after I listen to this one a few hundred more times. 😊❤️

Margo Zimny

Oh Geoff... I love this so much! I love your voice in the upper registers and I'm so glad that you've taken the opportunity to showcase your entire range. You are not "just a bass singer" even though that's your bread and butter. You are so versatile and I so enjoyed hearing you sing this type of song. The emotion that you put into this makes it truly yours and pulls us in. Thank you and well done!

Maggie S

First time, ever, hearing "High and Dry". It says so much. Loved it! Hope you are all better from the flu. Happy New Year. Thank you for making music and sharing.

Geoff Castellucci

Um... 10.5” ? I guess the boots do make the feets look more biggish.

Dylan

This definately gave me all the feels. Thank you

Zara (ZAYRAY!)

Yup you feet are twice the size of mine 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Geoff Castellucci

It’s because of the violins. I snuck the violins in there and they’ll getcha every time.

Amanda W

😲😲😲😲😲😵 2:30 When you look like an angel, but sound like you swallowed an demon. 😇😈

Carl Thomas

We share the same shoe size, Geoff. Shame the voice didn't come as part of the deal 😉

Mary 🦊

Beautiful G. Showing off your range. Wow. I’m sorry you were down with the flu! Here’s to a happy, healthy New Year! 🥂

Zara (ZAYRAY!)

You know what they say about big feet? You got big shoes. If your mind went else where... stop it! 🤣

Ashley Gatewood

Geoff you're gonna make me cry! Love you and can't wait to see what other amazing things you do in the new year.

Gretchen G

This is beautiful. I especially like the part starting at 4:35. How'd you do that? It sounds so cool!

Stacey Post

Okay, my cold, stony heart is now in a melted puddle around my feet. I've never heard the original, but I can't imagine it's anything like as beautiful and touching as this is.

Beefy Pancakes

Wow how amazing, and what a range you have. Thanks for ending this year with a blessing. And a quick question. Did you have to prepare you’re voice at all for this? Or was this all in you’re daily range. Thanks!

Carl Thomas

Your range is unreal and this rendition is incredible. Bravo, Sir!

Debs Badger

When you posted that first lens clip, I got an ache in my chest. It just had such a sad edge. Then when this song was guessed, I honestly didn't know what to think, as I've never been a fan of Radiohead (Thom Yorke's voice just does NOT resonate with me). All that being said, I enjoyed your take on this song very much. Your emotion and passion came through loud and clear. 🙂 Keep experimenting. Keep going after those things you feel passionate about. We've got you. 💕

Luna Koole

The award for Best Acapella Bass Singer of the year.. goes to: GEOFF CASTELLUCCI

Åse M Bruun Lagnestål

Wow! Amazing! I love to hear the unreal range and softness of your voice. 🥰 But - if I’m completely honest - I think the piano was just a little bit too loud. * What I want from you is YOUR VOICE. * 🥰🎶❤️😉

Kim Taylor

I have to admit I haven’t heard this song before, but plan to check it out soon. Your rendition was beautiful! I never get tired of hearing your voice and your amazing vocal range. Thank you for continuing to share your amazing talents with us. Also thank you to Kathy for being your productions “crew” which allow us to benefit from your new songs.

Tara Congo

That was truly beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing that with us. I have to say, as a pianist and a huge fan of Radiohead (and this song in particular), you did an incredible and touching job with that arrangement. You really made those three chords go far, haha! Loved what you did with the dynamics throughout the whole piece, with both your voice and playing. You've inspired me to jump back onto my keys, so I'm off to do that now, ha. Hope you, Kathy and William found some joys and goodness in this crazy year and that this next one is better and more exciting in all the right ways!

Rick Duff

I’m not a professional musician, but I’ve played in church orchestras for 30 years, and been playing for 46. The only reason I can see for you not being a “piano arranger”, is you saying so. You HAVE the skill sets, creativity, and the heart for it. I’m guessing you’re a perfectionist, because in every piece of work you put out, is beautiful, and most entertaining! Of course I’d be in error without recognizing your very professional studio crew, THANKS KATHY! Happy New Year to you, Kathy, and Master William, Rick

Arlene Jacobs

Wow!! I had to look up the original as I hadn’t heard it before. Love the sequence and range from one note to another. Great job Geoff!!

Lourdes Sanz

Wow Geoff !! 🤩 you are so talented!! low notes!!, high notes! your increíble range!! rythm! passion!! You are one of the best artists!! I am so glad I got to hear you and so privileged to be able to contribute to support you in going on doing this you love and do so well!! Thank you so much for the joy you bring us, by sharing your talent! Blessings for you, Kathy, William your parents, family and friends, and very happy holidays!!

Jessica

That was Amazing Geoff great Job. I am sorry to hear you were sick but I am glad to hear you are feeling better. I wish you and Kathy and William a very happy new year. And all the best in 2021 !!!!

Sophie Plourde

I'm not exaggerating when I say that I have never been moved by a song this much in my entire life. I've never cried like that because of a song either (in the best way possible of course). I have heard the original song too many times to count, and your version is brilliant: vocals, creativity, arrangement, piano talent, everything. I wish a comment like this would do justice to show how strongly I really feel about this but all I can say is thank you for existing and blessing us with beautiful music like this❤️

Olympia

Absolutely beautiful! Amazing lyrics, piano, and of course vocals! It is amazing how a simple song like this can move us so much. Thank you for this and for everything this year!❤️

Danielle Stinson

Geoff, this was simply stunning. You should take pride in this, and never second-guess your talents.

Jessie

Glad to hear your feeling better! Also thanks a million for what you do

Jamie T.

WOW! That was unbelievably lovely, Geoff. I've never heard this song before. The only reason I've even heard of Radiohead is because another artist I enjoy, Brian Justin Crum, did an amazing cover of their song "Creep". As much as I love your bass voice I also love hearing your higher ranges and this song was such a beautiful mix of both. May you, Kathy, William & the rest of your family have a wonderful New Year.

Karen Greenwood

Gorgeous arrangement and vocals Geoff. Thank you for sharing your gift with us. I’m truly in envy of your craft. Much love....

Helen A

Listening to this, I think that this is why I decided to become a patron. 'The Headless Horseman' was something I knew I was going to love before I ever hit Play. 'Mele Kalikimaka' is a simple and adorable tune that was guaranteed to be a holiday favorite. But this arrangement is different. It's unique, and interesting, and feels like something that I'll need to take some time with and allow it to work its way into my heart over time. And that's not a bad thing at all! Being able to be a tiny part of helping bring to life something a favorite creator is passionate about, and finding something new to love in the process, is a gift. Thanks and I hope you have a very happy 2021. 💗

Cynthia Ross

Never really listened to Radiohead, by the time they were popular, I had already turned off my radio. I gave it a listen before your version - I'm not surprised that I much prefer what you did. You're simply the better singer, and the arrangement is perfect. I felt the drumming on the original was a bit...intrusive? Too jarring and distracting at any rate. Just a piano or just an acoustic guitar is dead on perfect for this. I may be the odd fan out here, but I love your higher range as much as I do the lower one, and I love hearing you hang out up there for most of the song. I was actually debating on asking you to do something like this. This one is going into my heavy rotation for the foreseeable future....it was the audio equivalent of slipping cold feet into warm fuzzy slippers. It made my ears feel cozy. I can't explain it better than that. :) I'm glad you're mixing it up. My driving mix has been referred to as "a series of musical hard lefts". My passengers may get subjected to metal followed by bluegrass followed by 20's jazz followed by rap.....I have a little bit of everything in that pile and when I hit the shuffle there's no telling what will come up. I like it like that. And I like it that you're not only surprising me with varying styles, but also with songs I've never listened to. Shake it up all you want - you ain't shaking me. :D I'm delighted to be any part of good music - I have much more love for music than I have talent, and this is as close as I'll ever come to being able to create something awesome myself. Thank you for having me. Discovering VoicePlay and you is the *only* really good thing that happened for me in 2020. And I'm not sure I'd have made it through without that discovery. Health, wealth, love and joy to you and yours Geoff. May next year be as wonderful as this one was sucky.

Inge (Inch)🎨📏

That is beautiful!! I'd love to hear more songs like this. Happy New Year to you and your family!

Janina Campbell

Absolutely love this, don’t know the original version and after hearing this I don’t need or want to. Amazing, Geoff, thank you for sharing your wonderful voice and talent with us.

Amber Scott

This is the reason you're one of my favourite singers. I'd have never thought you'd cover this song, yours and Thom Yorke's voices are so separate in my head, I would never have put the two of you together, but this was absolutely perfect. Your upper register is so beautiful and light and everything I needed in a Radiohead cover. I thought Blackbird would be the one that made me most emotional, but jesus mate, I'm in floods over here. This song has always meant a lot to me, and now it means all the more. So, thank you for sharing your wonderful voice and here's to 2021.

Sophie Llewellyn Smith

You did a great job with this, Geoff. Thank you so much! Many of your songs (including with Voiceplay) are a ray of sunshine in my day and let your humour and playfulness shine through, but if I'm honest, I'm more interested in this sort of music from you. It's great to hear you experimenting and seeing what you can do with the music and with the incredible instrument that is your voice. What I love about you is that you've been a professional musician for YEARS, but you're still growing and learning about yourself and what you're capable of. It's a privilege to be able to share that journey. Wishing you, Kathy and William a very happy 2021.

Sunniva Melhuus

"It made my ears feel cozy. " This. So much this.

Hana Keindlová

I have to confess, I didn't know about this song before. World is full of amazing music and I am very thankfull you showed me another one, Goeff. I love your version. The song gets literally better and better with every minute, I adore the arangment. You are truly very talented man and you proved it once again here. It's a touching, melancholic yet in some ways inspirational song. Your voice range is phenomenal and I am glad that you showed it to us again. I will never ever stop loving that. I am really happy you are feeling better now ❤️ and it looks like a pretty lawn behind that window, tho 😏😁 Thank you for doing all of this. Becoming part of this gorgeous "family" and following your journey here is one of the huge highlights of 2020 for me. You and your "team" 😉 bring a lot of smile into my life. Thank you for that, really. Happy new year 2021 to you and your whole family 💖

Sunniva Melhuus

This is what I was hoping you would be able to do on your own Patreon. I can see how this song was incredibly daunting, but you did it and the result is absolutely amazing. You are a professional musician and whatever you do with passion you make incredible. Compared to earlier work, I felt you were testing a new set of wings with this and I love it so much. Keep experimenting, we are here for it 🥰

Rebekah Galy-Davis

...speechless...mostly 😉 Hands down, best thing you’ve done on your own so far (and I thought Blackbird was going to be the death of me). Your arrangement is phenomenal. Only thing I can think of that would’ve made it even more impactful is if you’d looked at the camera in that last shot. Also...flu sucks. Glad you’re feeling better!

Rio

I was expecting this to hit the feels directly in my heart as soon as I heard the little sneak peek, but this is beyond my expectations. It hit me emotionally more than I want to admit. I didn't know this song before, well.. for the most part cause I'm still relatively young in my 20s and secondly cause I didn't grew up with music around me much, which makes me all the more grateful I'm introduced by you and VoicePlay to so much amazing music that I had otherwise missed. Had to instantly listen to the original and was suprised by just how incredible honoring and delicate your arrangement is, given how daunting this song is to cover. Especially the part around the 5min mark is so powerful. It's a song I could write many pages trying to interpret and still not grasp, it will mean a lot to me too from now on, cause your cover hit me in a time of personal struggles, I really seemed to need it. Question: You sure you're not a piano arranger? Maybe in a former life? Cause I'm no musical expert at all, but this cover is insanely good, from an arranging and singing perspective. And hey.. thank YOU very much for not being afraid to try out new genres and styles and taking us on that journey!

W Graham Eyster

This is the best one you’ve made so far (and that is saying a lot). I’ve loved being able to listen to each one of your songs and not one of them is the same as the other. Keeping doing different things, it’s working!

JulieAnn Spartz

This is not something I would have expected from you, nor is it something I'd normally listen to. I took the time to listen to the original before listening to your version. I was impressed with the original, and am in awe of how true to the original, and yet beautifully your own this is. Truly something to be proud of. It will definately be on replay.

Kristin Taggart

That's so lovely, Geoff. Thanks so much for sharing. I've truly enjoyed following you here on Patreon the past few months, and I can't wait to see what you create in the new year!

Dan Black

I wish, instead of a heart, Patreon had a 0-10 rating scale, so I could give this an 11. … OK, maybe that doesn't technically work, either, but you get the point.

Brenda Lyons

You've done it again Geoff... You've blown me away! Your voice is something I can listen to all day every day. I cannot imagine how daunting it was for you to finally do this song. I'm around the same age as you, and Radiohead, some of their songs would be so intimidating. But you made this song into a masterpiece. I'm fairly new to you and Voiceplay, have only been here on Patreon for about a week now. But I have listened to every song I can find by you and the guys. I anxiously await to see what 2021 brings us from you! Thank you for this amazing song and Happy New Year to you and your family as well!!

Amanda W

I showed this to my husband and he said he was super impressed by your higher notes. He's still jealous of your bass of course. 😂

Tra Mason

where do i start? This touched my soul i swear, so many emotions while listening to you sing this song. truly beautiful! thank you ❤

D McKim

I am glad to support the creation of good quality music, I turned off any radio about 20 years ago. Thank you for mixing it up and not being afraid to go into uncharted territory.

C Wonderland

What a great way to end the year - can't wait to see what you'll do in 2021!

Elizabeth Ratzlaff

Amazing song!!!! I had not heard it before, so I took you up on your suggestion of listening to Radio Heads sing it. Love your version of it !! Your range just amazes me. Every song you sing I feel is such a gift from you to those of us who can't sing a note!! Please keep singing the songs you love and always wanted to sing them!! Wishing you peace and encouragement as we all begin 2021.

Elizabeth Ratzlaff

I forgot to add a BIG thank you to your "Assistant" Kathy and your parents for helping with William as you branch out singing solo. They are such great support and can help with the stress of just trying to juggle "life". I speak from personal experience in my life. :-) Families really are a treasure!!

Christina Dowdican

❤️!! Much better than the original! You & Kathy do an awesome job on everything involved in producing your videos! Gave you thought about putting together a cd/dvd be of your music?? If so i Would love to get one Happy 🎇🎆🎉

D McKim

Thank you for not only the quality music, but consistently trying new things. I am sure that anyone that would hit shuffle on my iPod would think that I had some sort of personality disorder.... I have really enjoyed your exploration of uncharted waters. Thank you to your production team as well.

Amanda Panda

Geoff this is utterly gorgeous. I didn't recognise the song until the chorus but it is lovely and I got a little teary eyed towards the end. I hope you and your family have a wonderful New Year's celebration and that 2021 brings the best goodness that is possible.

Cindy Jones

I'm coming late to this party Geoff. Now you that the holidays are winding down. I'll get to catch up. So, now I'm going to listen.

Cindy Jones

Wow, it brought tears to my eyes. That was transformative... This deserves something more then usual word's. Thank you. And thank you for the journey you've taken me on. Looking forward to another year Geoff...

Blair Toblan

Beautifully done Geoff. Your command of your voice is wonderful. I'm glad you're on the mend from the flu. Happy new year to you and your family.

Cal W

Going into this I was like yeah cool love this song, and then you got to the bridge and made me cry. Absolutely beautiful, Geoff. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Alex Sage

Wow- that was so beautiful.

Alex Sage

YES- I was wondering if he was gonna give the camera a look. That would’ve hands down broke me. I don’t cry and I was a little teary.

Alex Sage

Best Acapella Singer of the year.. goes to : GEOFF CASTELLUCCI* 😜/j

Alex Sage

The reactions for this will be great

Sophia Schmidt

Holy mother of everything that was BEAUTIFUL

Cindy Barber

This song is beautiful. It took me a couple of listens to really appreciate how much you managed to do with the 3 chords, plus, I love how "soft" your singing is (it felt so light with still so with much power behind it.)

Eileen Parkman

This is heart-achingly beautiful. Thank you <3

Lioba

Thank you very much! As much as I like your arrangement with your clones, this is by far my favorite work of yours. Simply touching and beautiful! ❤️‍🩹

Sabine W

I watched this on YouTube a bunch before I became a Patron and it's so so beautiful, one of my favourites! <3

Kara L Joy

Now see, when you do something like this and it vibes of like, Jeremy Jordon it boggles my mere mortal brain. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's beyond cool you have 47 tiny mythical beings living inside your throat who I assume make shoes or cookies or maybe even pointy wizard's hats whenever you don't have them on stage, but it literally stops me dead until I can figure out what/who is happening. It's like my music Wordle for the day, so please, please know it's one of the best parts of any day. LOVED this! Obviously. Since you've temporarily relocated me to the 90's, I'm just gonna go check in on 3 Doors Down real quick, I heard they might have fallen into some Kryptonite because they're Losers, and they need to stay Away From the (red) Sun even though I've told them they can't Let Me Go. Seriously, "I can hear them knocking on your door too," she said with a lilt in her voice that smelled like a newly lit sparkler of hope she'd carry in her heart for the rest of her days.
