All good things come in threes. Stooges, Lord of the Rings books, Hanson brothers, and now um... this thing. This would be the THIRD Q and A for the channel and if you haven't seen parts one and two that's ok, there aren't any spoilers in this trilogy, just bad jokes and hair flips.

There were MANY Q's that I wasn't able to A, but the several I've chosen for this video were ones I felt would be entertaining and informative for most viewers and burgeoning bass singers.

Important note: You're getting this video early but this will not be a "paid for by patrons" post.

Thank you as always for your support and Enjoy!

Bass Singing Q and A

PREVIEW ONLY

Comments

Dalton Watson

This is awesome! I'd been wondering if that was Sub-Harmonics or Overtones in "Kidnap The Sandy-Claws." Thanks for the answers!

Maggie S

Thank you! Entertaining, as always.

Debs Badger

I don't know that it was your intention, but that was *just* the right amount of humor I needed today. Thank you! 💕

Olivia

I have absolutely no chance of ever singing bass, but these are my favorite.

Olivia

Very informative and entertaining, thank you very much! And yes, I think you should collab with Matt!

Åse M Bruun Lagnestål

Thank you for this one! Lots of question marks were straightened now. 😊🙏‼️

Hana Keindlová

Thank you, I learned a lot and laughed a lot ❤️😁 I still struggle to understand everything, some of those words are new for me, but it's interesting to learn about techniques even about things I can't do or don't fully understand. Thank you for being you and putting laugh into learning. And I have to say it, you aren't old. I repeat. You are not old. Howgh!

Tracie Schlaak

Great job splaining things. You would make a great music teacher. And repeat after me I am not old. I am not old. Thank you for all the good stuff. 😊 and also love Poppins pumpkins and Sorcerers. ❤️

Olympia

Thank you so much! Very informative, really enjoy learning about techniques used by other voice types😁

Kim Taylor

Thank you for sharing. You have a way of entertaining us by just talking and being yourself. ❤️ I just want to remind you that none of us think your “old”, but you do tell us quite often that you are very old or that your the old guy. 😂. So maybe you need to stop referring to yourself that way, especially since some of us are older than you. 😝. Again, thanks for sharing your experiences and your time with us, because we really do appreciate it,

Alex Walker

Thank you for taking the time to explain, and make it so entertaining! 😊 Don't get me wrong, I can't carry a tune, even if my life depends on it! So I won't be using those techniques any time soon, or ever. But it's always fun to listen to you! And no, you don't get older, you get wiser, trust me! Well, some people do just get older, but that's their problem. Thanks again! ❤️

AdaK

Geoff, you dissing us about the "young" and "old" thing will forever be my favorite thing 😂😂 We don't age, we just level up 😏. Thank you for the video - it was funny, educational and it was amazing to hear you again!

Katie D

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks of Tenacious D when someone mentions ingressive phonation 😂 since you asked so kindly, I'll not mention the hair flip 😉 this was very informative and entertaining, thank you 😁 this is the third day I've been sick and your video made me feel a little better 🙂💕

Sam Jayne B

This was incredibly entertaining, interesting and informative😁. I agree with you about Matt, he is a wonderful singer. A collaboration with the two of you would be wonderful 🤞.

Tara Congo

This is great!! Super informative with a little bit of silliness tossed in. Thanks for the bonus patron content at the end!

Gretchen G

This is so interesting! If you started making asmr videos though . . . I absolutely love listening to your voice, but most asmr videos sound like nails on a chalkboard to me. So there'd be a very real danger that the contradiction might cause my head to explode. 🤯😄

Helen A

I think the 'when you were young' stuff is mostly fascination with the fact that you guys (or some of you) have been singing together since you were wee kidlets of 13. And yeah, whenever I listen to songs from the 'Time Machine' album I'm struck by how different you sound! All that practice has paid off big. 😊 P.S. I love "Once Upon an Ever After". It's my favorite in the car listen.

Raven Winters

I don't understand most of what your talking about cause i personally dont sing but I love watching anything you make. You made me the happiest I have been since i got news that I have covid. You gave me a distraction from feeling miserable. Please keep it coming 😇 Ps. Geoff asmr is something that I did not know I needed. Please think about it.

Jessica

Thanks for answering our questions Geoff. That was amazing !! I love all of your videos

Rio

I don't even sing, but the entertainment and information value of these Q and A's is just - So. Good. I'm sure Layne doesn't hate you with those arrangements, he just shows his true love by pushing you to your limits to become the best singer version of yourself and step out of your comfort zone *cough* Tennessee Whiskey riff *cough* That's what friends do for each other! 😁 And I personally think we rather need ASMR of Layne eating carrots just to troll J. Seriously, people loudly munching carrots is one of the most annoying sounds ever. Nevertheless, this was so fun! (and now I have the urge to sing Happy Birthday with subharmonics on the next birthday party and embarrass myself. yep, great idea.) Thanks for this and please continue being so awesome, entertaining and... young ..as you are!

Lourdes Sanz

I concur with everyone! This is fun! I learned a lot although could not really understand half of it, I enjoyed it much. The old & young dilemma is so relative... you see life differently when you hit 60... advice: enjoy your life and another year with health and happiness! stop counting!

Cindy Barber

I may not be a bass, but I always love learning about vocal techniques....so thanks for answering all those questions. It was fun to have some extra Patron stuff too. :) I'd totally take a collab with Matt! He is great.

Sarah Dworak

Awesome video. Thank you for sharing! But now I need to know if it’s Hanson brothers as in Slap Shot or Mmmbop?

Dominique

I truly enjoyed watching you in this video. It was very entertaining and informative. Now to the part where you say that you have no plans for asmr at the moment I completely understand! However if someone two months ago had said to you "Would you do a reading of the little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen" your answer probably would have been "I have no plans for that" Look what we made you do 😉 So I say I can smell another proper patron poll coming sometime soon?! Pretty please! Love how you stay in touch with us throughout the month and look forward to what you come up with next 😊 Dominique

D McKim

He has yet to learn what old is, he thinks he's old now?

Jess M

I told him to stop saying that he is old. Didn't work apparently.

Sophie Llewellyn Smith

Really interesting, Geoff. Thank you! Loved the bonus Patreon content at the end.

Miranda de la Parra

Something I only realized the second time watching but uhh... Geoff... Asking people to collaborate with you in *patreon only bonus content* isn't really the best way to get the word out 🤣 Unless of course Tim, Avi and Matt are all patrons. As they should be.

WisconSims

Don't practice in front of people. Got it! Also, you are only 4 years older than me, and I find that my voice gets better with age. Simply because the years of practice are helpful, or maybe because I have grown to like it better. Keep doing what you do, and how you do your do! Love! xoxo

Shari Ann Creamer

Hearing you do that high sub with no other singers around made me realize how close I was to doing subs with my girl voice back when I was trying to learn. Very, very cool of you to share your secrets.

Katie D

Oh thank you! I'm starting to feel better today 😊💗

Veronika Troll

IT'S WEIRD. - Geoff, 2021. :D Loved all of it <3

Geoff Castellucci

Just putting it out there in the universe... maybe the stars will align :)

Nana Koranteng

Thanks for answering the Layne Percussions question it was a burning question I was dying to know 👍

Biene

So finally, with the help of this Q+A, I, female, managed to sing my first subharmonics. Not just some kind of growl, but clean, long, low-pitched vocal fry. It's hard for women to find similar videos on how-to, as for all I found all vids are made for male voices. But now, here I am. I'm so proud and grateful.
