So... let's see what ya'll think about just a font size choice 😬.

Glad you went for that picture, it perfectly portrays the mood of the song!

Debbie Goodling

This was a hard one! Not totally fond of the font but I went with the small.

Angie Woollard

I like the small text, but I'd kiiiinda like the spacing closer. The word "ain't" looks too spread apart - the apostrophe is taking up too much space. (Happy to see that photo for the thumbnail! Super impactful, in my opinion.)

Stephanie Graham

Love this picture! It’s says so much in one image. 😊

Gretchen G

Love the picture! I like the smaller text. Maybe even a bit smaller than that? So that "Sunshine" isn't so cramped?

Rachel Blackthorne

LOVE the image...I actually like the larger font because it is different and impacts more...

Eileen Parkman

This is a tough one. I like the large text for better balance in the photo compared to the small text. I like the small text because the song title can be better read. Is there a third option with the lettering on the bottom of the photo, in front of you, rather than behind?

Katie D

Small definitely looks better imo, and even though we're just voting on the font size, that image is perfect for the thumbnail 💕

Mikki Fullerton

Small text. The big text is bright enough in color and large enough to immediately attract the eye to the text before the picture. Then because it's difficult to read with letters and partial letters missing, it manages to not only attract the eye first, but then hold the eye while the brain figures out what it's actually saying. It's only once you're done figuring that out that you can move on to seeing the person and that's the part that I would argue is most important here, since you might read the title with more angst if you've already seen the person. Also don't care for the way the left bar of the capital U is coming through the hair, that's a tough edit. If you rough up the font color to give it a more despair feel instead of bright feel does it make it too hard to read against such a light background wall?

Cindy Barber

So happy you went with this picture for the thumbnail! I think the smaller text but agree with the person above who mentioned the kerning (letter spacing) feels a bit too wide with this font.

Debs Badger

I'm not fond of either font size. ETA: I, too, like the thumbnail choice. Appreciate that you went with a slightly less angsty one than the one you used for us. That one just WRECKED me.

Rebekah Galy-Davis

It might be harder to read the title, but I like the big text BECAUSE the “SUNSHINE” is obscured. Goes with the overall theme, I feel.

Veronica Thunander

I want to be able to see the title, so voted for the small one. Maybe even a bit smaller, or tighter spacing, 'cause I agree with others that "sunshine" looks too cramped. Love the thumbnail photo, makes my heart ache 'cause you look so sad. It's beautiful and it fits the song perfectly!

María Gabriela

I'm so happy you went with that picture! However I agree that we should try other font choices, though on the bigger side. Maybe with a border around the letters of a different color so it stands out?

Suzy Bailey

I'm voting for small! Lovely as you are to look at Geoff, the large font is too obscured behind you. I also think a little tighter spacing on "ain't" would look better. Apart from that it's the perfect thumbnail picture! 👍💜

Veronica Thunander

You know we cannot possibly comment only on the font size! 😉😂

Amanda Hovendon

Small text and I think you should underline the text

Helen A

Definitely the small. That big text is screaming angrily at us and doesn't fit the quiet melancholy mood of the song at all. I do love that thumbnail tho, it's perfect.

Åse M Bruun Lagnestål

Love the picture. ❤️ I prefer the small text, since the large text is kind of too loud for the heartbroken song. 🎶❤️‍🩹

Rachael Heidi

I was going to say big text but after reading some people's comments about the big text screaming at you, I am changing my mind and saying small text is better 😊. Can't wait for this to release ❤️❤️.

Tine

Wonderful image for the thumbnail! Very capturing and fitting, and very different from you as well! As per font.. neither is ideal... I prefer the smaller one, but as said several times the kerning / spacing feels off on 'ain't' and the difference with 'no sunshine' is very big. Would you consider something more slanted or cursive? A little more subtle?

Suzanne

Best picture … it gave me a little crush hahaha but go with the small text we don’t want to be yelled at for a beautiful song like this one 💖

Jennifer L. Cramp

I agree. The photo is perfect, but the small font is the better choice. Perhaps even just a little smaller so all of the letters are easily seen. 👍

Jay

for now I'm voting big text, it "sits" better in the picture for me. once my friend comes home, I'll test if he can tell what the text says. if he could guess quickly, I'll stay with big, if not, I'll change to small but the small is just not as satisfying imo. if you smush the thumbnail to fit a phone's screen, you wouldn't be able to tell what it says anyways :) oh and I agree with virtually everyone else, the picture selection is spot on :)

Karen Grace

I like the small text better except for being scrunched up in one corner. It makes the image a bit out of balance.

Jay

sticking with big text, my friend said it wasn't difficult to figure out at all so I'm happy with my vote as is :)

Sarah Reach

First of all, great choice of photo! For the font, I love the creativity of the large text going behind you, but unfortunately, it is unreadable (unless you already know what it is). That would create too much of a distraction from the rest of the scene for it to get my vote. Small text could use some tweaking (Ain't is too spread out, Sunshine too cramped against the border) but between the two, Small text gets my vote.

Angelic

I voted for the small text because it is easier to read the title. I actually like the large text better though because it is different.

Marlo Schalesky

Small, but wish there wasn't such a big gap between the N and the T in AIN'T. And Maybe just a little smaller so we see more of the S and the last E isn't so squished against the side ... or play with different placement of the words on the picture.

Sarah Reach

Ooooh, this almost makes me want to change my vote. I love some great metaphorical resonance.

Kaleigh Henderson

Small text for sure, but the kerning of this font is super weird. There's WAY more space between the letters of "AIN'T" than any other word, and the extra space next to the apostrophe is weird too. I like the vibe though, the angsty Geoff leaning in the doorway is just *chef's kiss.*

Cynthia Ross

Ya, that gap bugs the heck out of me too.

Barbara Binney

If this is the photo you're going with for the thumbnail, I prefer the small text because I can actually read it. I agree that the apostrophe takes up too much space, though. Also, perhaps a different color or a darker, more pronounced outline for the letters. There's just too many shades of white in the photo as it is.

Sarah Reach

A few of the above comments changed my mind and my vote. The physical obscuring of the word sunshine by angsty Geoff is just too perfect to pass up. Some have read the big letters as screaming at them, but given the metaphor we are working with, I'd say that the text is more of a shadow looming over. Maybe changing the font to a grey could help sell that (and enhance readability at the same time). The final straw that helped me change my vote was having someone say that their friend was able to figure it out easily. There will also be a video title that will clue people in if they can't read it.

Ilona Dever

I like the symmetry of the big text but voted for smaller so that the title is better seen.

María Gabriela

I love how font sizes are a tremendous debate here (and it's entertaining to read all the opinions!)

Janet Towles

Yep to what the others said re: the small text.

Veronica Thunander

Yes, you (and others) have a point regarding the large font. But on the other hand, thumbnails are about first impressions I guess? I voted small font, but you make me wonder if I should reconsider... 😁

Ellen L Brownell

I, also, voted for the small font but feel "ain't" needs to be pulled together more. And I like this photo because it is less angsty but it still hurts my heart to see the unhappiness on your face.

Veronica Thunander

Yes, I agree, but we can’t help commenting on the photo as well 😁

Sarah Reach

My first impression was actually in favor of the big font since it is so creative and unique. It was only when analyzing it for readability that I thought it was a deal breaker. Join me on the large size if you want, but I think we are going to remain in the minority, lol.

Sarah Roberts

I think the smaller is easier to read. Seems better to me anyway

Judy Wilde

I voted for small text, but agree with many others here the the word ain’t is so spread out that it was hard to recognize at first. I don’t mind the size and location of sunshine, but the top line needs to be more readable, whether that needs to be spacing or a smaller size.

Gretchen G

Is this the same font as Shenandoah?

Jacklinka

Both are not ideal, for me. I would take the smaller one, increase the font a little bit and add contrast or shading to the font, move down to the right center speaking of height and bring the text before your image speaking of layers.

Shirley B Karr

Looks like it to me, just in all caps.

Shirley B Karr

Yes for the smaller text, but the irregular spacing is giving me OCD twitches. I'd make the letter spacing in "Ain't" the same it is in the other words, center "Ain't No" over Sunshine, and darken the shading or drop shadow around the text so it' s more legible on the light colored background. Love the thumbnail pic!

Brontesaurus Rex

The way the H clips through your hair in the big font picture is weird to me
