Welcome back, y’all! Let’s get right into it.

If I’d had a $2 bill for every single time someone had requested “The Sound of Silence” by um, Disturbed, I’d have at least $3 by now. That's a lot of money.

Wait.

Wasn’t this song originally recorded and released by Simon and Garfunkel? Well, the answer appears to be a solid “maybe”. The Disturbed version of this song has become so entrenched that if you google search “the Sound of Silence”, Simon and Garfunkel’s version comes up halfway down the page - Immediately behind the Pentatonix version. Ouchies. The loss of recognition for their songwriting probably hurts a bit, but I’m sure ol’ Paul and Art are only weeping in between trips to the bank to cash those sweet sweet royalty checks. $2 bills for everyone!

Needless to say, the Disturbed version is incredibly popular, so lured by the temptation of immense notoriety, I made a note for note shot for shot remake of their cover. ENJOY!

Kidding. I set about to do a completely different take. I mean, what’s the point in making something twice, right? So here’s “The Sound of Silence” direct from my brain goop to your ear balls. I hope it makes all the hairs on the top of your feet stand up like it does for me.

Thanks for everything and enjoy the vid!

Perks coming soon!

Thank you for the autograph by the way!!!

Leon Oettl

I expected an amazing version and was surprised by an even more amazing one! One of the best interpretations of one of my favourite songs I’ve heard!

Cayden

Ive been wanting you to do this song for so long!!! Hell. YES.

Amy Kutnerian

I think I forgot to breathe at some point...no matter, that was INCREDIBLE

Melissa Glyn-Jones

No words….ok some words. Lots of rumbles, and lighting bliss, and awesome beats, and and…..I’m gonna need a minute to process this one. Bloody hell!!!! ❤️❤️

Alison L

Fabulous. Those background lows that are felt as much as they are heard...mmm... Different but Fabulous 👌

Tom Peavy

Good Lord that was amazing. I’m a 46-year-old firefighter, tough-guy type and I have tears running down my face. The first moment the harmonies hit sent chills through me like electricity. Dang man, that was powerful stuff.

Katie D

Oh my god. Oh my god, Geoff. I have no words for how astoundingly beautiful this is. Goosebumps from the very first note to the very last. The last verse brought me to literal tears. I love your version with every fiber of my being. It resounded with me in a way no other version of this song ever has, and has taken the number 1 spot of my favorite version, just above the original and the cover by Disturbed. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for this beautiful work of art 💗

Sandra JB

It's so different from the traditional one..but I love it. Especially like how you did the instrumentation. Fabulous! thank you.

Wendy Allen

My sentiments exactly! ❤️❤️

Ruth Feiertag

OK: mine started late, but it was worth the wait. I love the passion and the way you managed to make this song fresh (not that the other versions are stale). Thank you for this rendition.

Robin P

Wonderful and totally different. I think I read a comment somewhere about the Simon and Garfunkel version being the warning, and the Disturbed version is the aftermath. Along those lines, this one strikes me as the lament a few years later.

Lady D Richter

Beautiful as always. I loved the sweet simplicity of it. El's lighting perfectly on point! I can't wait to share with Baby G, she'll love it!

TheNightShiftDragon

What on earth even was that??? You definitely get pionts for different! I'm (sort of) used to Geoffs bass by now, but this... The extra bass adds a element of impending doom. (And shakes my head.) I'm getting flashbacks to the loud thuds, and rings in the water glass, in Jurassic Park. Just waiting for disaster to strike through the entire song. This is dramatic and brilliant. And I need to go back and hear it again!

Ruth Barkey

Thank you. This is my favorite song. I remember the Simon & Garfunkel original. To me this song is so full of sorrow and yet, has a touch of hope. I mean no disrespect to Disturbed but I really didn't care for their cover. It felt too angry. You sir, have simultaneously made something new while still invoking the emotions that the original inspired within me.

Kim Taylor

That was beautiful. I loved your interpretation! I'm sure it must be difficult working on a song with many versions already, but you definitely made it your own. Thank you for your hard work and this beautiful new song ♥️

Alex Sage

Oh my fucking god that was absolutely amazing!

Alex Sage

Same. I am just- wow-

♥️Heather Divine♥️

Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness!!! A whole roller coaster of emotions. Loved this so much. The arrangement is stellar. The lighting and little touches of magic are amazing. The last verse gave me anxiety but in a good way. Loved this so much! Bravo 💜😊

Kimberly Friend

What. The. Heck!! I can't form a proper sentence to describe this! my goosebumps have goosebumps. Def repeating this for like ever. Fantastic job!

Édua Elster

I have tears in my eyes. In my darkest past, I tried to make suizide three times, this was the Song I listened all day long. This and mad world. It hurts to be remembered but it gives me hope for the Future. Thank you so much!

Ellen Reiser

It was beautiful. You should be very proud. If i had any criticism at all, I’d preferred if you had taken off the apple watch. Im not sure why i find it distracting. It’s probably just me. Im weird that way. It was a wonderful rendition.

Dee Years

I absolutely loved it Geoff! I’ve only ever hears Simon and Garfunkel’s version, I don’t know anything about Disturbed, but your version has overtaken S&G in my heart and head! Thanks a million,

Tracy Smith

This was outstandingly beautiful❤️

Amy Petty

This was just stunning. I said this over on Youtube: I didn't really know what to expect. I've heard so many covers of this that tended to retread the same ground. I've heard Geoff's statement that he specifically tries to avoid that and make something new. So I had no idea what to imagine for this cover and...I just have no other word than stunned. It's incredible.

Gretchen G

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. I'm going to go listen a bunch more times.

Brontesaurus Rex

I really needed something to look forward to today 💜 Thank you

Margaret Tassey

An interesting rendition of an interesting song. Layers of silence and lack of silence. I loved that you kept it so visually simple. Another good one that I will need to hear many more times. Congratulations.

Jude L

Holy cow This is brilliant. I just absolutely loved it.

Katherine Powell

Oh my gawd. Hauntingly. Beautiful. Eli.....the lighting....I can't. I love the progression from the piano, to just sitting, to standing, and ending back at the piano. That first low, rumbly singing of the word "sound" took my breath away. Eyes welling up. Your brain goop is amazing. Worth every second of "ish" waiting.

Lori Templeman

LOVED THIS! Your musical choices, the stark and moody visuals--it is amazing! Kudos to Eli for those lighting choices as well!

Shona J

Just wow. O other words really am speechless

Olivia

Very cool, I like it. I will admit the sudden breeze made me laugh though😂

Tine

Geoff.. Oh Geoff.. This is just spectacular. The way you changed up the song and made it really unique and really your own, which I love so much, as it really puts your stamp on your work. The instrumentation might have been a nightmare but what a dream this is to listen to in this form. Super impressive and epic and just.. it brought tears to my eyes but also a smile to my face. along with those low rumbles, and hte BGVs coming in and...; I'm having trouble forming coherent thoughts. The VIDEO. I knew that the teaser shot looked dynamic so I had imagined steadicam work, but wow, this is very cinematic and stunning, along with the lighting changes. Well done to the entire team. Eli, Layne, Kathy, and of course yourself. If I wasn't already convinced that somehow any cover you touch turns into gold, this is proof right here.

DnD Addict

Mind blowing. I LOVE the original of this and grew up listening to it. I have enjoyed many different covers of this song but none have made as much of a change as you while still keeping the true integrity of the song. I love the choice of a solo voice for such a large chunk of it. I honestly cannot tell you how much I am moved by this version. You SIR are a master arranger, at understanding the subtleties of a song and making it your own. I don't know what I was expecting but this has blown all expectation out of the water. Another masterpiece that is going to break the internet (and if that premiere is anything to go by it already has haha). Thank you so much for the gift of your music. You honour us!

AM Person

OOOOO I loved this so much! I gasped out loud more than once in delight at the beautifulness, the artful changes, the perfect lighting cues, the escalating drama of the performance. So so good. I'm going to need to hear that a few more times before calling it a day.

Jordi S

Thank you so much for making things your own. 💕💕💕 I love your version

D. Maenad Schluter

Do Not Listen While Trying to Walk! My knees almost buckled on me even though it was the second time through

Camila Rokiski

It's beautiful. I love it so much. Thank you, Geoff 🖤

Debbie Goodling

You’ve done at this time Geoff. This can’t be beat. It’s absolutely brilliant! You are a master sir, with all respect, I bow.

Laura Harris

I honestly don't have the words for this one. Couldn't even think of a reply to this that does it justice – pure magic is the closest I can find. I don't think a piece of music has ever made me forget to breathe before, so thanks for that! Wow. Just... wow. Perfect.

Katherine Powell

I mean, who needs to breathe when you're listening to Geoff? :D

Lis M

I never thought I'd hear a version I love more than the (real) original, but Geoff... You've done it. It's been fifteen minutes since I listened to it, and I still have goosebumps!

Jordi S

Would you ever consider putting your magic on Scarborough fair

Helen A

Yes! I was trying to think what that vibrating thud in the background reminded me of, and you're 100% right. It's the T-Rex approach.

Nikki Attwood

Absolutely amazing as always Geoff! Loved your version, will definitely be listening over & over again ❤

Ryn P

This version gives me the feeling of listening to someone tell a hero's epic that ends bittersweetly. Amazing!

Karen & Lauren

This just reaches in, grabs the heart, and wrenches it from the body. Bravo sir.

Helen A

Noice! I'm glad you opted not to film the harmony singers for this video, the disembodied voices echoing in the background gives it a much more haunting quality. I'm also glad that rock-god Geoff with the magical flowing mane took over that passionate last verse, that was bad ass!

Ashley Evers

The loneliness, the simplicity, the intensity, the build, it's all so stunning. Please give Eli a hug for us, and . . . maybe a raise? Damn. I really can't handle everything you've given us today.

TheNightShiftDragon

I love it when people have the same reference, and it's not only me! 😊🦖❤

Sarah Borzelli

It is so so so beautiful - I can't put it in proper words. I thought "Nothing else Matters" was a mind blowing arrangement and you couldn't outdo yourself anymore - but you did! What a unique spin on the song and on the video! The dynamic camera movement is delightful, the lighting is perfect - the wind adds so much to the power towards the end... You made it your own, made it new, exciting! The instrumentation is thrilling (the piano, and the drums) - apparently all your nightmares turn out wonderfully (repetitive songs with no bridges, etc.) My brain...I forgot your voice! That's marvellous in each part and each register you pull out! If this doesn't explode on the internet - I'll have to leave the world

Jacky Friedman

Geoff. That is so awesomely beautiful I actually got tears in my eyes. That rarely happens to me. In my humble opinion this is your best video and song you have ever done👏👏👋👋👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Thank you thank you thank you 💖😘💖☺️ Love ya ❤️ PS... Had to call my daughter at work right after writing the above comment to tell her about this. Then she confessed to me why she doesn't like listening to Geoff or Voiceplay. His low bass "bothers" her like every other woman out there that listens to him. I had the suspicion but never went into it with her 😂.

Christina Dowdican

Absolutely Beautiful!! First time thru my signal was constantly buffering but I kept on going. Then I instantly hit replay ,& it played all the way thru it gave me goosebumps on goosebumps on goosebumps while I was crying so hauntingly beautiful! I love it!! Thank you Geoff♡♡

Huldra Draco

I..... Wow.... I thought I had found the words to say now, but... nope. Wow is all that suffices.

ObscureReferenceWoman

HOLY CRAP!!! Even on the iPad with my headphones not working, and the band warming up in the other room, I am floored! Can’t wait to get home and put it on the big screen with the good speakers! And yeah, I’m one of those who grew up with the original S&G version, too. I know I’ll be a puddle once I hear this properly….

Leisha Slaughter

Oh my goodness. Such a beautiful cover. That end with the swell of Geoff singing full out while harmonizing with himself, the really beautiful but haunting visual/filming style and the arrangement. I am gonna have to watch it several times to take it all in. Bravo to everyone involved.

Kaleigh Henderson

This song and video is blowing my mind, because it is so different from the videos Geoff has done before. There's no gimmicks, no clones, no costumes, no makeup, hardly even any set or story. Before there was always something that the video was focused on; I'm thinking Way Down's clones and humor, Misty Mountains' awesome set, costumes, and copious amounts of facial hair, the work song vibes and tool percussion of 16 Tons and Big Bad John. This one has none of that. It's literally just one Geoff, one piano, a few lights in the background, and the most gorgeous song I've ever heard. Seriously, that last section where Geoff was standing up was breathtaking. There's nothing to hide behind. And the fact that the video can focus on nothing but the singer and the song for the whole runtime and still be this AWESOME, arguably more so than any of the aforementioned songs, is a real testament to Geoff and all of his talents. Bravo, sir. Bravo.

Chani McCoy

Loved it! This is easily my favorite version of a song that I've always enjoyed. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent.

Tara Congo

This was so beautiful and truly touched my heart. The incredible dynamic changes throughout, the unexpected chord choices, the lighting and camerawork... everything worked together to tell a story and tell it well. I hope you're proud of this one because it's wonderful ❤️ ETA - The piano seriously keeps breaking my heart on every relisten, man. Gorgeous.

Keith Hartley

That was so good! I didn't expect what you did, nor have I ever heard anything like it, but your rendition of this song is so beautiful and amazing!

Tracie Schlaak

What a wonderful rendition. Geoff you are amazing!❤️

Sophia Sutherland

It’s on projects like this one that it is truly a crime to only be able to leave 1 like ❤️

María Gabriela

Tears! Tears to my eyes! Such a lovely cover, Geoff. Thank you. I loved the part where you went all in and harmonized beautifully with your own voice(s). Thanks!!!!

Teresa Ritter

I have a new favorite version of this song! completely gobsmacked! Brought me to tears it was so good!❤🧡💛💚💙💜

Suzy Bailey

OMG! WOW! Chills, goosebumps, pounding heart! I knew I was going to love whatever you had done but I did not expect it to completely floor me! Thank you so much for all your hard work, and everyone involved. This is a wonderfully passionate performance, absolutely stunning! 😲😢🤯💜

Candace Berg

Holy crap. I got literal full body chills and tears at "and the people bowed and prayed" Geoff, you took a big risk with this one and it payed off. Better than I could have ever imagined. I have never joined a patreon before yours and voiceplays and February was my first month. I am so happy I decided to join!

John Racela II

One of my all-time favorite songs. I only knew of the S&G song. Geoff, this was amazing and fantastic as always. I am looking forward to hearing Voiceplay's rendition of Scarborough Fair. (Hint Hint)

kris ivy

I love every frame of this. It’s just so intimate.

Maggie S

Beautiful version of this song. I remember when Simon and Garfunkel came out with this. Loved it then. Love your version. I think you have done wonders capturing the essence of the original. Thank you!

TheMarauders

2$ can make three- or- what- can you half ask?- hm, hard questions at 3am. However, thank you for doing it, i really love it even though i didnt expect it 💙

AmbularD

It's by Simon and Garfunkel, of course. Who or what is 'Disturbed'? Anyway, absolutely gorgeous rendition, Geoff, and a lovely video.

Beth Walsh

Ok, I will confess that when I heard you were doing this song, I was apprehensive. Not that I didn't think you wouldn't sound amazing, but since I obviously don't have the musical vision you do I couldn't see how you could take this to new ground without being "drowned out" by the Disturbed version (which I do still love too). But you definitely took this to new and great places. I'm not sure it's better than the Disturbed version- can't really compare the two - but it definitely is at least its equal. Lesson learned, I will not doubt again.

Pat R

OMG I have been waiting for this a long long time and it's every bit as beautiful as I imagined.

Hunter

I told myself I wasn't gonna cry! First word to come outt my mouth once I saw his hands on the piano: "Goddammit." Followed by a lot of mixed emotions and tears. Go Geoff! Yay! Thank you so much for all the hard work into these gorgeous pieces! *Chef's kiss*

Dylan Reubenking

The tiniest details absolutely make this cover so beautiful. Obviously the lead vocals and piano are incredible, but the whole ambiance of the track is just outstanding. The video might be one of your best from a production standpoint as well. This is gonna be an absolute HIT

Randiskye

I'm not sure how many times I've listened to this so far. I really like this version. I honestly wasn't sure at first listen, since it is definitely a different arrangement, but the changes serve the emotion of the song's message so well. I close my eyes, and this becomes the soundtrack of a mechanically ruled dystopian Futurescape. The electric frizzle underpinning some of the music's bass lines is at first distracting, but then one's ear seeks it out in later parts of the arrangement. The overall feel of the piece is dark and heavy. I especially enjoy the rock tenor counterpoint giving a driving energy, as if he is trying to break out of the malaise of the rest of the song's emotional feel quite literally. @Geoff -Great job! I can tell why this took a bit longer. You carried the concept fully to fruition on this one. (And that is not to take anything away from any other of your works.) This rendition elevates the original and has achieved your stated mission: this song is dark from beginning to end. Thank you for making this, and not shelving it 😉💕!

Amy Kutnerian

But if I stop breathing I can't keep listening 😭

R. W. Hansen

I love how different this was and yet how utterly beautiful! I loved this with all my heart!

Jason

Nicely done! I like the changeup for the final verses. Rattling my new headphones with that ultra low tone in parts...what is that, like a 50hz tone?

Eileen Parkman

This is indescribably beautiful. You worked such magic with this song and video. **standing ovation**

Ilona Dever

Just absolutely glorious!!

Lizzy Hite

Yep, definitely new favorite version!!

J.L.

Take a classic that has been covered many a times and then add Disturbed's cover to the mix, and yet here you are, Geoff, adding your own touch and creating yet another awesome edition to the mix. The bass, the highs, the backing instruments, love it all. Positively lovely rendition and taken in a Geoff direction -- the direction no one saw coming. Bravo! <3

Kelsey June Garber

I am crying 😭 I have always loved this song so much and I’m obsessed with your telling of it

Dan Black

Ooo, I love it! I'm so glad you went with something different from both the original and the Disturbed version. We get the beautiful solo vocal -- and all those sweet, sweet low bass notes -- then easing in some equally beautiful harmonies, and then really amping it up with percussion and more/higher vocals. Great vocals, and great, unique arrangement, including a few harmonies or ends of phrases that diverge from the original (and Disturbed) but still fit so naturally that it sounds like yours could have been the original version just as easily as what Simon & Garfunkel actually wrote. I can't wait till the public release, so I can share it!

Bonnie Kaupp

Oh my word. That was beautiful! I joined just in time. 😊

Arlene Jacobs

Omg!! Totally worth the wait!! Incredible!!

Janet McAndrew

I have only known the Simon and Garfunkel’s version. I expected this to be a pleasant redoing of that song. This is trascendental. I can't wait for it to come out so I can share it!!!!

Amy Kutnerian

I was really scared to let my mom listen to this, as she has always loved Simon and Garfunkel and said no cover of Sound of Silence could ever compare. She was sure she wouldn't like it, but after she listened to it she glared at me and said "yeah, I like it. Son of a bitch". She said the piano was her first clue it would be good and that it's the best cover out there so yes, the difficult instrumentation was definitely worth it!!

Mimsically

Actually Paul Simon said Disturbed version was better.

Amy Petty

....This really doesn't need to be "actually'd." Which version is better is purely subjective, and yes, that applies to what Paul Simon has to say, too. And it *does* matter that people are actually forgetting that Simon and Garfunkel did the original due to its being overshadowed by Disturbed's cover.

Jaclyn Magee

There was a small moment where the lion king popped in my head. That was awkward teeheehee. Absolutely love this!!!

Karen Grace

I wasn't sure what to expect because I like the Disturbed version, but I should have known, lol. You always outshine yourself and this is no exception! Awesome song.

Melissa Creel

Wow! Just WOW!! I have had some things going on and that just really hit me. It is so moving. Great job Geoff!!!

Chere' Evans

At risk of being chased out for heresy (haha) - my favorite version of this song (till now) is not the original OR Disturbed - it is Pentatonix (and my favorite part of that version is Matt's solo). But, Geoff has done something so utterly different that I cannot even compare them. This doesn't even feel like the same song, which means I can love both versions without feeling like they are competing. Geoff's version is SO lonely and melancholy. I think this is the first version I have heard that really matches the sound and video to the emotion the lyrics evoke when read as a poem. And as usual for anything arranged by Geoff, the song gets better with every listen (because the musical complexity is so breathtaking). I think I officially have "two" favorites of this now - they really are very different songs, even though they have the same melody and lyrics.

Maggie Nystrom

You made a good choice to do this as a solo, not as a group. I love your multiple personality videos like Misty Mountains and Ghost Riders, but the solitude of the singer let's us listeners hear and feel the lyrics. Though now I will have to go listen to the other versions after seeing what you and other comments said.

Larry Haynes

You never disappoint Sir Geoff. Feel free to Disturb our Silence with your Sound anytime!

Amanda Paige

This is STUNNING. (i mean, not that i’m surprised, that word is literally Geoff’s voice in a nutshell.) but wow- really captured the emotion and essence of the song

Pete Magill

That was a very nice rendition until 5:20. Then it became powerful and AMAZING! Thank you, Geoff!

Sabrina Grimble

I always enjoyed the original for the lyrics. I absolutely fell in love with Disturbed's version and still listen to it regularly. This was so stunningly beautiful and I can't wait to add it to my playlist. I feel you paid homage and made it anew perfectly. 🤗

Sophie Plourde

This is officially my favourite rendition of this song Geoff. I can't even express how much I love it - your long work on this one is so evident! I particularly loved the choices of certain notes in the melody, some caught me pleasantly by surprise and I'm gonna play this one over and over for sure. Beautiful as always❤️

Moss

Wow, Geoff. Dude. That was complex, with so many unexpected shifts and turns, I was thrumming. Marvelous work, sir. You've done a lovely and innovative take on one of my fav songs ever, and I'm so happy I was here for the debut. Thank you for all you do and share. <3

Hector Solana

Something great? Excuse me? Are you kidding? This was HISTORICAL!!!

AC

Goosebumps and shivers. The very best kind.

B Sprak

Ethereal, dark, lovely, and powerful. Thank you Geoff.

FerretMom

Holy shiitake mushrooms that was amazing geoff. It was so ominous yet sad. Gave me chills. Just the extra noises in the background made the ambiance so profound. If S&G's original was a warning, and disturbeds cover was the anger, yours is the sadness and reflection that follows. Bravo.

Karyn Morrison

Awesome, goosebumps and spine tingles in a few places - love it (I'm guessing it will sound even better with headphones, going directly to my ear balls)

Casi Pohlman

Wow!! Seriously this is even better then I expected. I never thought I would find a version of this song that I liked more then Disturbed's version. But if someone was going to do it I would expect it to be you. I had chills, I had tears, I said out loud "wow! I love this." I dont hope for this but if this was the last song you ever sang it would be the greatest song to end on. With that being said, please sing more songs! We need more amazing music in the world. Thank you for your sharing your talents and time with us ❤️

Rosie Boughen

I’m not big on slow songs, though S&G have always been nostalgic for me. So this started out slow, and I made the mistake of multitasking while listening. But then just before his hair started blowing in the wind, my eyes became massive, my jaw dropped, and I quit doing my other now meaningless task and was fixated! W.O.W.!!! 🤯🥹 I’m sorry, I have no words. You just blew my mind. I know I’m not supposed to share Patreon vids, so can you pretty please release this asap so I can share it with my mum and sister?! This is incredible!!💯

SunnyOutlook

I wish I could put into words why I love this so much. The whole composition of it is so amazing from performance, to lighting, to everything between. I can tell a lot of work and love was put into this project. I wondered what unique take could be done with a song that has been covered by so many other artists. This is absolutely wonderful. It’s beautiful to listen to and lovely to watch. Thank you so much for this! Looking forward to the premiere for all the other Geoff fans.

Angie Woollard

Just got a chance to listen to this now and WOW! I absolutely am amazed and impressed at how you can spin a song into your own. (I'm getting In The Air Tonight/Phil Collins vibes here...anyone else?)

Kimberley McKenzie

Omg this is absolutely amazing can't stop listening to it. Bravo Geoff 👏 👏 need this to hurry and go public so I can get it on my playlist cause I'm obsessed already 😍 👌

Amanda Nott

What a magical arrangement for a beautiful song! Well done sir!

Amy Petty

That is what is so absolutely amazing about the song itself. The lyrics are insanely interpretively malleable. The arrangement, instrumentals, and videography make every cover an entirely different experience. S&G has always put me in mind of spiritual decay, whereas Disturbed's comes across as something profoundly apocalyptic and dystopic. This one is more like a mournful prayer.

Mia

This was *insert words from a coherent person here* 😳 I was pulled in from the first note, and crying by the middle. Absolutely spellbinding, emotional and unique. The contrabass (?) in the background was the money shot. So extremely well arranged, superbly performed and hauntingly captured. Many congratulations 💕

Shannon D

Finally was able to listen just now...I don't have words...just sitting here in awe. Now I must go process that amazingness, and also watch it many more times of course.

AC

Just listened with AirPods in, and something is funky with the sound there. (No, it's not the headphones, I double checked with other Geoff songs.) But like a distortion/static sound that kept happening.

Mia

More thoughts. If this could be released three times doubled, back to back, in a loop, please? Pressing repeat immediately doesn't have the same effect 👀 And when you have to "scream your face off"? We looooooove that as much as the grizzly bear. Thank you for indulging 😍

Maria Stoycheva

Geoff, never let go of that fan and Eli's lighting ;) 5:20 on definitely blew my mind! I always enjoy when you embrace your higher register and this tempo change was exactly what I needed. A good one for sure!

Sophie Heidi

Wow, I can't find the right words right now. It's so hauntingly beautiful, Geoff! You've once again created a version of a song that is totally different from all the other versions out there and yet captures the highlights of the original version so well! The instrumentals gave me instant goosebumps - not to mention your voice... 😍

Rebecca Hendricks

WOW! You NAILED a beautiful and unique arrangement for sure! As much as we love and tremble at your lower register, I think we need to hear more of your upper registers. That bit from 5:20 to the end totally blew me away. I was thinking, " Oh, this is a nice song from Geoff." And then you got off that dang stool and kicked it up a notch, or more like kicked a completely new notch! That was amazing, thank you!

Rebecca Hendricks

I do recommend checking out the version by Disturbed if you've never heard it. I'm not a fan of the band myself, but I do love their version and how they conveyed the darkness of the song.

Bart Huhn

Wow, absolutely stunning. Thank you so much!

Leisa S

I can’t find the words to express how much I LOVED IT 🥰 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Lutra2732

Wow! Exciting and surprising! I admire your ability to arrange an old song that has been covered thousands of times with completely new ideas while still retaining the character of the original. This arrangement is awesome! 🤩

Yasmin Goosey

Wow! That was hauntingly beautiful. Your arrangements never fail to have my jaw on the floor. And the video for this one is stunning! Love the way it was shot and the lighting design is perfect 😍 always love hearing your new take on a song and this one is definitely another favourite!

Jacquelyn Koh

Stunning and achingly beautiful!! ❤️ 😍 💖

Melisendre

After Nothing Else Matters another cover that makes me cry. I love your interpretation of the song and that you made something new.

Dawn Ours

Recorded: March 10, 1964 so when I say I've known this song all my life I mean it I was born 2 yrs after Simon and Garfunkel recorded it. I love the original I will always love it. My heart makes room for Disturbed version as well as Peter Hollens Feat. Tim Foust and now Your Vision of it. That is a Great Song. when so many people across the decades and genres can Find it Love it and make it there own. Thank You for not shying away from it. I love it !

Gillian Drysdale

just beautiful and of course different from everyone else’s version ❤️

Veronika Troll

Wow it's VERY different. It was an exciting first listen because you never know what comes next:)

Crisstina Joubert

That was Fantastic!! Way to put your stamp on an old favorite, made new again through your magic!

Mickey H

omg I actually cried when hearing this, it's so impactful and powerful, so well done!!

Michelle Parker

Holy S*&%! That was absolutely epic. You nailed that. Totally blown away listening. Thank you Geoff.

Sophie Llewellyn Smith

OK, you got me! I was thinking 'oh, this is a really beautiful contemplative version', and then...there was a very unexpected key change, and an epic climax complete with floaty hair and Messianic gestures. Great stuff!

Sarah Borzelli

I showed it my husband and daughter. They both loved it! My husband thought there were the other VP boys singing in the background, he said 'no way it's just him! And my 8year old said it's her new favorite song! And she likes Geoff singing better than me - lol I'm still processing the astounding greatness of Mr. Castellucci's abilities! The dynamics in the standing part wow! I hope Kathy is fine - I would burst with pride for my husband!

Cynthia Peterson

Absolutely beautiful version of this song! I loved it 😍

Lisa Lyons

I love the Simon and Garfunkel version, was in love with the Disturbed version... but THIS one, this particular arrangement, your voice, everything about it is about as close to perfect as you anyone might be able to get!

Frédérique Boudet

This song always made me cry, i don't know why, and with this one it's the same thing. it's a beautiful song who's touch me in the deep of my heart.

Peter Christian

Absolutely, bloody brilliant, as we say here Down Under. Your arrangement of this is just so full of emotion, & don’t get me started on those dynamic swells & key changes. You’ve done it again Geoff, another one that will be on high rotation on my Spotify (once it’s released there of course).

Geoff Castellucci

You wouldn’t want to see my watch tan line. That would be MORE distracting. 😂

Geoff Castellucci

I KNOW! The hidden premiere was a total bust. Dang it! We’ll have better luck next time for sure. 🤞

Geoff Castellucci

We’re a busy crew for sure! So glad you enjoy all of our stuffs! 😀

Olivia

It definitely is 😆

Morgoth

AMAZING!! <3

Biene

Maybe this rendition was more beautiful than I expected. And maybe I'm crying now.

Tara Congo

There's definitely distortion/static in places, but it sounds deliberate to me.

Susan Edwards

Never felt this song until now. Wow, such emotion, such power! I’m totally floored, thank you Geoff, I’m honoured to be a small cog in this glorious machine.

Cindy Barber

That was quite the cover....I don't really have words. I loved the whole thing, but that ending....my goodness. I don't fully have words.

Ashley Evers

I feel like the kid in a candy store who can’t decide which glorious morsel to shovel into my mouth first 😁 Your lyrics in Golden Hour absolutely broke me, and then the hits just kept coming. You’ve got to give a person time to recover!

Carol Franklin

I’ll be honest I was worried about this one I love the Disturbed version so much I couldn’t imagine even you bettering it. I have to learn because of course this is my new favourite 🤩

Stacy Tee

The only words I can muster is that THIS was worth every single second of waiting, denials/intentional ignoring, hoping the repetitive requests for it would stop…. You’ve succeeded to rise above the “it’s been TIREDLY done before….. and absolutely took it to where only you could!!! My fave version EVER! The ending…. Brilliantly breathtaking! 🖤🖤🖤

Stacy Tee

PS: I can NOT wait for Peter and Elizabeth’s reactions to this!

Laura Müller

This is incredible! Goosebumps all over.I can't stop listening to this, it's so amazing. And that 'standing up' section is so powerful and beautiful, it just blew me away. Thank you Geoff, for sharing your amazingness with us ❤️

Katherine Powell

Breathe in between listenings? You'll develop great lung capacity at the very least. :)

Coda

You've done it again Geoff. You've managed to take a song I couldn't listen to without getting overwhelmed by negative emotions and turned it into something that makes me cry from joy. I deeply appreciate the way everything drops out on "might teach you". Everything becomes quiet like you're pleading for someone to listen. So often it's sung with increasing frustration that doesn't let up, but your choice to make it quiet at that moment is breath-taking. It's a wonderful emotional expression of the phrase before the swell for the next verse, where all the power comes out. Amazing job once again!

Suzy Bailey

This is such an incredibly powerful and passionate rendition! I don't think I've ever seen so many people struggling to find words, and make coherent sense out of them, me included, to describe how this made us feel! You really do feel this stunning version as much as hear it! Thank you seems very inadequate, you are a genius Geoff Castellucci! 😲😢🥰🤯💜

Deb Dodson

This song has been done so many ways by so many artists, but you still came up with a new and different take on it. Beautifully done!

SunnyOutlook

Completely agree! I struggled with how to describe how wonderful this is. It's an amazing immersion of auditory and visual sensation.

Hanne Marit Leikvoll

Beautiful, and really toutching. We played the original in my daugthers funeral, so obviously it means a lot to me. You did exellent work on this! ❤️

Cassandra Woolf

Officially my favourite version of the song now... You did amazing with this! Absolutely love it! <3 <3 <3

Jacky Friedman

How many times can a person get tears in their eyes that never gets tears in their eyes? Answer... As many times as she listens to this video. Which is almost constantly since Geoff released it to us.

Jacky Friedman

The standing up section is my favorite. I love all of it but that one is so powerful and beautiful at the same time.

Mike Pearce

Dude. Leave some talent for other people. Jeez.

Tigsa

I love this so much. Can't wait for the mp3 so I can listen over and over!

Paul Anguiano

That was really good. Not being of the autotune generation, I guess, I wasn't very impressed by the Disturbed cover, with it's computer voice quality, but I really enjoyed this one.

Amanda W

OMG! You've done it! You had me on the edge of my seat, from the moment you started playing. This is amazing! It's so good! It's all the bestest adjectives!!!! YES x Googolplex! 💜💜💜

candi lunsford

This knocked every word out of my head but WOW. So moving.

Candace Berg

I know right? It's a rare thing to have a singer/actor/arranger/editor/everything else-er who's just so skilled. Everything he does is just amazing!

Sandy Mrotek

This was FANTASTIC. I love the song anyway because I am older and in Simon and Garfunkel time and played it all the time BUT you did it so great. I am a bass listener anyway and you were perfect. Thank you so, so much

Lois McCray

Tears are streaming down my cheeks. A sure sign that it's beautiful. I was very young 10 years old when Simon and Garfunkel released this. Then in 2015 my oldest granddaughter call and told me I needed to check out Disturbeds cover.

Stephanie Graham

This was so haunting and gorgeous. I am not a huge fan of the original, however, you breathed new life into it and made it something amazing and new. I loved this arrangement.

Alex Sage

100% feel this comment.

Hobbs Family

On repeat over here. My vegas are shaking the walls!! Onto the bose headset. So much to unpack and fall in love with!!

Christine Stromberg

Oh Geoff. I am sitting sobbing here. The emotion in this.....The original is a beautiful song. Disturbed made a very different version. But this is just beautiful. and for me it's somewhere between those two. Less dramatic than the Disturbed version yet just as emotional. You really know how to crank up the emotions with your arrangements and also with your acting skills. You should be very proud of this.

Suzy Bailey

Ditto, and I'm going to add David K to this list!

Kimmy

Why did I cry?!?!?! Omg Geoff so gorgeous!! I'm obsessed! Absolutely mind blowing! Chills, tears, goosebumps.. I got them all. Bravo!!

Jay Fritz

This is just the best. I don't have words. Your skills as a singer and arranger, and your ability to pull the essence out of an original and make it into something that is deeply moving....... I said to start with, I don't have words, and I wish I could say how I'm feeling about this right now, but that cliche term, "bravo" is about the closest I can come.

Amanda Hovendon

Geoff you totally hit this one out of the park. I’ve been wanting you to do a video like this. A video with just you and a piano. No clones. This is totally friggin EPIC! Thanks for making me tear up lol

Ann Durham

Stunning. As in I Am Stunned. So moving. I love the subtly of the hint of the pink neon light - and your harmonies on the word "light" are uneearthly. I have to go listen to this a few dozen more times to unpack it all.

Ann Durham

One more thing. Much as I love Jeff, Jeoph, and Gof, I'm glad that we only heard them and didn't see them. This is one song better done alone. (Major kudoes to Layne and Eli for the lighting, and to Kathy for everything)

michelle noto

Wow! Love it! Maybe the best ever!!!!

michelle noto

Actually, I have refused to listen to Disturbed, or anyone else do this song. For me, it has always been Simon and Garfunkel, or no one! But you are awesome!

Carmen Gagnon

Love this! You have such a special way of rearranging songs. It never fails to impress. Another masterpiece under your belt!!!!

Karyn Morrison

Definitely better with headphones. Or sound bar where I felt it vibrate through my floor and desk. Though not sure if my neighbours appreciated that one as much 😉

bill watts

Worth the price of admission just to see that hair blowing in the wind. Haven’t had hair like that in 25 years

Caitrin Grimshaw

This is so so good. One of my favourites. 😍 Everything is just perfect. The harmonies. The piano. The lights. It all works so well together 👌🏼🙌🏻✨

Lexy Wolfe (aka Pam)

You did justice to this song. It has that emotional poignancy it's always held for me. Camera work was awesome, though a little motion sick-y for me. (Imma weirdo, never mind me. :) ) And your vocal range is just phenomenal. <3

Alyssa Daniels

Geoff! I don’t even know where to start. The cinematography of the video is just gorgeous! Eli did an incredible job with the lighting and it compliments the tone you set with the arrangement. What are those cinematic booms? If that’s you, how did you even do that because that shook my entire body! Truly phenomenal job! PS. Is that the accursed piano from Till Then? 👀

Ashbii

I have now had 24 hours to process and a glass of wine. EHEM, This was amazing. That's it, that's all I've got. I don't know how to form words to express how much I love this song.

Crysti Jones

I was expecting to cry my eyes out on this, but I just can't stop watching/listening to it. One of my favorites for sure. So happy people have asked and you delivered beautifully as usual 💙

Zena Darling

I didn't know what to expect, but I knew it was gonna be good! I had literal chills throughout.... Just a few seconds in I realized I needed to get up and get the good headphones from across the room instead of using my cheap earbuds. Makes me a little sad for anyone experiencing this on a phone/portable/ anything other than GOOD speakers or headphones. Actually, I pretty much feel that way about all your music, but that rummmmmmble and the gorgeous subtle accompaniment makes it especially true here! I know enough about music to know when I'm hearing something really cool and out of the ordinary arrangement-wise, but not enough to really figure out WHAT makes it so cool just by listening. I do always enjoy reading breakdowns by people who really understand the music theory, so I'll be scoping out the comment sections for that! Bravo, and THANK YOU!

Gail R.

Excellent!

Amanda Gentry

I was so nervous about this. It’s one hell of a song to tackle. And my friend, you shattered all my expectations. I’m absolutely stunned and amazed. I had of course gone back and listened to both the original and the Disturbed cover before watching this. I was so very impressed with your take- it was simultaneously a mix of both and something totally unique. Instead of the hopeful tone of the original or the disappointment and anger of the Disturbed cover- your version conveyed a profound sadness and weariness that I hadn’t ever heard from this song. The video concept was so very poignant. Having you alone in the dark was entirely fitting. And the last verse was heartbreaking. Bravo Mr Castellucci. Bravissimo.

Girl On Fire

The second I saw the announcement you were finally doing this song, I could hear the high part in my head… and dang it you DELIVERED! 🤌💯👏🔥 The instrumentation is perfection as well! BRAVO

Chere' Evans

I hear that, too. I think it is intentional.

Georgia Oliver

Ever since this has come out I've been listening to this non-stop. Must say this is one of my favourite covers that you have done. great job Geoff :)

Emily

Wow, this was amazing! I almost cried several times this was so beautiful and poignant.

Cassandra Collins

Oh. My. God. That is....amazing and awesome don't seem strong enough. I grew up on the Simon & Garfunkel version, I really like the Disturbed version, but this? This is incredible. And your range? How is that even human? Astonishing. Please never stop.

Mikki Fullerton

I'm a little late to the comment section but this piece took me awhile to assimilate in my brain. I don't usually break things down like this but I just couldn't help it this time. Here's a few things I liked. Sorry the post kinda got a smidgen long on me but I figure that's really more on you since you're the one who put all the goodies in the song... Love all those 808s (or whatever you call them in your software), what an absolutely delightful way to rattle my windowpanes. Keep 'em coming, I haven't broken one yet! In the intro how the instrumentation came in first, but then it completely dropped back out for those lonely first words. It felt like the best parts of both the instrumentation world and the vocal only world were used in just the right places. Love the rhythmic, melody, instrumental and occassional riffs that were all changes from the original. Most of the time I could mentally sing along which kept it feeling familiar and comfortable, but it still felt like at every other turn I was hearing something musically unexpected. My daughter and I both LOVED these twists SO much. The amount of solo singing in this one was a surprise treat. While I really enjoy each ensemble you do with your clones, I love you solo singing also. I felt this single lead fit the lyrics of the song so well and made an excellent choice this time around. Those long cuts were AMAZING. I imagine that had to take so much more effort. I thought this was a very cool change of pace from your usual, literally and figuratively. Also, having a moving camera was another thing I appreciated that you were able to do differently than normal this time, I imagine because of the lack of clones? I liked it in Ain't No Sunshine and again here. The colored light on the 'neon' section was a great touch, and I found the stark lighting and abrupt changes fit extremely well with the electronic distortion on some of the included sounds. Both of these along with the simple all-black background with no sense of horizon made me really feel that dystopian society. Oh yes, all the reverb on some of the percussion sounds contributed well too, I think. Also, the lens flare placements were a big yes from me. Those beautiful chords on 'songs', 'words' and 'fell' are delightfully nonstandard. Chords like these are some of my favorite things about your arrangements. You playing piano is always welcome, please keep doing that. And while this particular piano sound isn't as smoothly pretty as some of the others you've chosen for past songs, I thought it was a great fit to the overall style of this piece. I literally laughed OUT LOUD when your hair blew back in the breeze. I couldn't help it, I know how much you love folks commenting on the hair and you went and opened the door wide open for it this time. But that being said, it was a nice touch for the video and I thought it looked great, feel free to repeat. I love how often you sang through your 'n's. This came as no surprise given you often you choose to sing your consonents, but it is worth nothing that it once again sounded like the right choice at the right time. The word painting you did with 'fell' descending right down into 'echo' followed by it's own echo IMMEDIATELY made me extremely happy. Another thing I love about your arrangements is how frequently you utilize word painting. Everytime I manage to catch one it just makes me giddy. The unbroken phrase of 'no one dared distrub the sound' instead of the more usual way it's done with 'no one dared'-breath-'disturb the sound'. I really felt this helped communicate the actual meaning of the words better than having the additional break in there. Small but nice touch. The newly added in transition sections were excellent spaces for the mind to rest for a second before the next verse came back in. while they were short, i thought they felt good being there. The long descending scales/sequences felt like i was riding the notes down a descent into a darker place, absolutely perfect. And it happened several times so it made me feel like I was trying to get out, and kept falling back repeatedly. This was especially true when the built section kept ascending until the silence returned to snuff it back out again. The STRINGS. Enter heartache on the sound of strings. They came in at just the right time right before you began to sing of fools. While they weren't there long, I thought they packed just the right punch. As usual wonderful diction throughout, I could understand the whole song, thank you as usual for this simple yet often overlooked feat. So... thanks for another song!

Dani

Hello, this comment 🥰 Thank you for all the details you were able to put into words, sentences even. Pefekt. All I can bring to the table is: I am drowning in a sea of sounds and emotions - in a very good way. So the eternal loop of this song it is. No explenation possible. For me that is.

Melissa Struxness

Wow. Honestly I never liked this song before. Definitely not a Disturbed fan, but this is beyond amazing. Those higher notes you hit dude you could easily be a rock star. I cried. It moved me so much. I actually listened to the words and cried.

Karen & Lauren

After listening to the mp3 on the way to work, it just hit me. The sound and feel you achieved is exactly what it would be if Paul had written during, or in response to Covid-19 and lockdown. That is the vibe.

Suzy Bailey

Yes, perfectly said! We should all have taken a leaf out of your book, and taken some time to absorb and digest before trying to find words and make coherent sentences out of them! Feeling exactly the same as Dani, I just babbled a little! 🤯😁

Mikki Fullerton

Oh I'm so glad you all responded quickly, can you imagine poor Geoff sitting there for two days without a single comment on his newest video wondering 'what the heck?' 🤣

Dani

Well I love all the emotional comments. It is a first and honest reaction and thank god we can all comment more then once 😂

Melissa Struxness

I prefer to give a response right after listening. More honest.

Dani

Hey sorry my answer was for Suzy's comment or supposed to go under that whole section, but I am sick and clumsy and out of order so it appeared under yours. But you are right nonetheless.

Mandy

Goosebumps, Geoff. I’ve got goosebumps.

Jamie T.

Unfortunately RL intruded and I just now found a few minutes to watch/listen to this. Sounds of Silence is one of my all time favorite songs; one of only a small handful that I love enough that I know all the words. I've always preferred S&G's version but I also like PTX's version. Unlike the majority, I do not like the Disturbed version at all. But, this just blew me away. First it sent chills all through my body, and then I started crying, and then started to smile. You sir, are a master at what you do. I love how you take a song apart and put it back together in such a different way than anyone else has ever done before while still honoring the original. Just amazes me every time.

Ashley Evers

I've been thinking about how well you tell this story. When I listen to other versions of this song, the melody is so repetitive and the lyrics are so abstract and poetic, I tend to loose track of what is actually going on in the song. But you start out so simple, with so much focus on the one voice, and then gradually add visual and musical elements as the song progresses, while still never getting in the way of the simplicity. It just, walks me through the narrative and I can follow it better than I ever have before.

Suzy Bailey

Oh, bless Dani. I hope you feel better soon! 😉👍

SisterofWar

It takes serious talent to take a song I've heard a hundred times and make me hear it anew. And that's exactly what happened here. Thank you for bringing your take to this song

Chrissy Lee

Anytime you show you can do it all n then some, always makes me smile. Thx s much for this wonderful gift, I really loved hear

Jay Fritz

2nd comment from me on this one--the only real criticism I have is there is no "C'mon," in this one. :-) This is just such a beautiful arrangement and leaves them all in the dust as far as I'm concerned. When you sing "sound" and drop it that way at 4:18==simultaneous chills and tears welling up. Yeah, moved to tears. Beautiful, Geoff.

Chere' Evans

Wow - I just listened again today. I loved it the first day (and commented accordingly above). But today it blew me away. The emotions. This is what music is supposed to do - touch emotions so much you sit in silence and let them wash over you after the music fades. Geoff, you make incredible arrangements that get better every time we listen. Never stop taking the time necessary to let your personal passion for excellence create these masterpieces. The result of your effort is worth the wait every time.

Susan Smith

As always you knocked it out of the park. Every time that I think I have a favorite song you outdo yourself and I have to rearrange my playlist. Thank you for all that you and your loved ones do. You have given me so many hours of pleasure.

Denise

S&G approved the Disturbed version, so I guess they won’t be so mad it’s coming up 1st in the search 😉 For me, the haunted, angry, dreading voice of David and the overall feeling the Disturbed version awakes suits the song really well; still - your version has something unique to it… it’s intriguing… I have to listen a few more times to it 😅🤔🤗💚 For me, the first times the electronic bass(? not your voice) was added, it sounded too harsh and “cut”, it might sound better if it faded out a bit… Later in the song it was better (i.e. more fitting). Anyway: You’re doing an awesome job as always and I love your voice and versatility and arrangements and hair and humour and did I mention your voice… 😁🫶🏼

candi lunsford

Way too many comments to go through to see if this question has already been answered, but what was the HIGH note? Don’t get me wrong, as a contralto I’m fascinated by low basses, and you in particular, but man! Your upper range is making my jaw drop more and more often!

Ashley Evers

I certainly meant it as high praise 😁 I would probably be embarrassed if you knew the amount of time I spend trying to find the right words to express everything I love about Geoff's music.

Karen & Lauren

Given the key, without checking, it's either a Bb4 or maybe a C5.

Katherine Powell

I don't think this comment will be seen by many at this point, but I just wanted to come back and say that I have been racking my brain, since the first time listening to this, what your few opening chords on the piano remind me of, because they immediately set off something in my brain. Well, I finally figured it out. It's the few opening chords to the piece, "Remembering Jenny" written by Christophe Beck for the season 2 episode, Passion, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. That is such a beautiful piece and has a lot of meaning within the episode and why I think your arrangement immediately evoked emotion in me. ( Not that your arrangement of this song didn't evoke emotion in me all on its own, just that I was already feeling it in like 4 chords played on the piano. :D ) They're not the same but similar enough to take my mind there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NjXEDyzFsk (< link to the piece)

Debbie Buck

Geoff, thank you so much for this beautiful gift. I first loved this song when I heard it just a few years after it originally came out. You took a touching song and made it even more poignant. Your treatment of the last verse is absolutely breathtaking. This was awesome, to say the least!!

Cynthia Ross

Ditto. I love hearing him soar upwards every bit as much as I love those drops

Cynthia Ross

There’s possibly another issue other than sound quality to listening to Geoff on cell phone speakers. Now look, I’m not saying for sure Geoff is to blame…but out of four iPhones this is the only one that had to try to play him. It’s also the only one that fried a speaker. I also lost a tv sound bar about two months into playing VoicePlay through it daily: it developed a permanent buzz on any low pitch. Quality vocals need quality equipment. The cheap stuff can’t hang.

michelle noto

I love this so much, I can't even express it!

Helen D

This went straight on to my playlist, love this cover, Thank you 💕

Judi B E

The only cup I use when I get to have an open cup of coffee (very rare). But I get to listen to this every day during my commute to and from work, both jobs. It really helps mellow me out and attitude self-adjust.
