This story was written in 1820 by Washington Irving. I'm embarrassed to say that it took me over 200 years to finally read it, but, better late than never though, huh?

Those of you that are unfamiliar with this historically terrifying masterpiece will undoubtedly recognize "The Headless Horseman" or as I like to call him, "The Horseless Headsman". He's become synonymous with Halloween and immortalized in more stories, movies, television shows, bad trick-or-treating costumes, and average cover songs than I could possibly enumerate here, but needless to say, close all the windows, lock the doors, unless you're careful he'll get yours.

This narration requires a bit of a sit down, so get comfy cozy, grab a warm cider, put your um... "head"phones on and prepare for 80ish minutes of spooky story time.... Mwah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!

I like this way of thinking about reading old books. It didn't take me all summer to read that book from 1847, it took me 136 years. 🤣

Tara Congo

Really looking forward to this one 🎃 Hope you're patient about getting feedback, because that's a loooong narration 😆

This suddenly reminded me of our 5th grade production. I was Katrina, and my bully was cast as Ichabod. The boy would NOT dance for the party scene, so I grabbed him and skipped/dragged him across the floor and back! It looked ridiculous! Everyone laughed! He didn't pick on me much after that. We went out a couple times in college, so we're chill now!

Made the hair on the back of my neck stand up...

Cloudy Skies

I cannot wait to snuggle into a fuzzy blanket and listen to this. I have read the book, but it's been longer ago than you've been alive. This will be a delight.

Such a great narration of The Great Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Sir Castellucci. Happy haunting to all. 🎃🎃

Washington Irving (I've never heard of him before, my knowledge of American literature so far has been Edgar Alan Poe and Ernest Hemingway...) has the wonderful language of the romantic cultural era of the 18th century. He reminds me of the German romantics Clemens Brentano and Achim von Arnim. I am pleased that you, Geoff, have now given me access to American literature. I would never have thought to read the book! Thanks to you, Geoff!!!

Riley

Yessssssssss, I have so been looking forward to this! Thanks for all your hard work recording and sharing!

SunnyOutlook

It took you over two hundred years to read this? Maybe a few people are right. You are not human! LOL! Thank you for this. So much fun and spookiness for all.

Cindy Barber

You have truly spoiled us this Halloween season! Can't wait to listen to this one (although I might wait until it gets dark today to really sink into it!)

Bonnie Lawrence

I bet your son loves to have you read to him. ❤️

Sandy Mrotek

I'm glad that you have the time to get back to reading books to us. I love all of them that you have given us. This is a perfect one for October. Thank you so much.

Lori Chaslot

My bedtime story for tonight ❤️

Teresa Doran

Your voice is perfect for reading

Tema Krempley

I'll be listening to this tonight while coloring. Of course there will be tea and a some good snacks involved.

Silv E

That was delightful! ❤️

Kiri Ullman

I love this story! To have it read beautifully while I work is an extra bonus.

Helen A

Very good narration. I like that you kept a conversational tone throughout most of the story, only going hushed and dark near the end when the ghost stories are being told. It really clarified the shift from familiar to foreboding. Also, I hope you had snacks on hand, because Damn did Mr. Irving glory in the frequent descriptions of food!

Deborah Krach

You read this story beautifully. You are an excellent narrator who I could listen too for hours.

Jeanette Pencz

Thank you Geoff. You have such a wonderful voice. I could listen to it hours and hours (although my English is not sooo good so I don’t understand everything but nevermind 😉😁)

Catherine King

This was written by my great, great, great, great uncle. I have loved it even more listening to you narrating it.

Amanda Hovendon

I can’t seem to stop listening to this. Like I’m obsessed. So obsessed that I actually want to take little 3 day vacay to Sleepy Hallow NY in the Fall
