Whale song? Whale song? I'm sorry what? I'm not even going to attempt to guess now that I know there is WHALE SONG in it... 🤯

Angie Woollard

Well let’s see some actual notes, then I’ll give you a guess. 😜

Dominique

No clue but I’m happy you’re enjoying it. Can’t wait for the results and several teasers beforehand 😃

Tine

Whale song... locusts.. aliens... This is going to be a VERY intriguing one. No guess so far from my end. Most importantly you're having fun. looking forward to whatever this is, Geoff!

Gretchen G

Haven't a clue, but I look forward to finding out!

MJ

I don’t know

Hunter

Whale den. I have not a clue.

Petra Harwin

No idea!!! As long as you’re enjoying it, that’s all that matters to me.

Knut Erik Vassvik

No idea what this is, but I know it will be great!😊

Huldra Draco

whale song, piano, locusts...... wow.... no clue. but you having fun with it is all that matters, can't wait to hear this! 🥰

Debs Badger

I know better than to try and suss it out from those cryptic plug-in names. 🤣

Jordi S

I see lots of piano 😊

Sue Armstrong

Oooh, intriguing! Whale song....does Free Willy have a soundtrack? 😁

Beth Comer

Guesses? Not so much. Questions? Many. So very many. Topping the list is... Granular whale song? And yes, that is a question.

Cécile Roussey

I don't know...I’m sure it’s gonna be great :-D I can’t wait to hear you sing

Sarah Borzelli

Well I wouldn't be surprised if you could sing like a whale as well. Because why not, you're Geoff. And infinite clapping...🤔 I haven't a guess yet...very intriguing!

Tara Congo

Ooo, look at all that piano... Also locusts and whales 😆

Diane Holland

How about the 3rd song of your Hobbit Trilogy? I love “I See Fire” and can’t wait for the last song.

Carol Franklin

Kick Inside by Kate Bush. Given her high range that in bass, baritone & tenor would be fun & I think it’s possibly got whales in it.

Jeanette Pencz

I have no idea. All I can recognize is whale song and piano. Geoff and the piano? 😍 I am definitely here for it. I can’t wait 😁😘

Ethan Kayne

Lol. Is any of that english?? Not a clue. Stairway to heaven maybe. I trust in the infinite knowledge of the universe to guide your incredibly talented hands. That's about all I've got. 😁😁😁😁

Lacy McCloud

No idea at all but beyond excited!!

Mikki Fullerton

Not a clue what it could be, but I don't think I've heard percussion come in that early on one of your songs since... I dunno, Way Down maybe? So something fairly upbeat perhaps? It's also early in the month for you to start teasing us... but it's fun so please continue! 🤣

Jason Cranford

I see noir piano so something dark. Maybe some Frank Sinatra?

Patricia Schuman

"Starving in the Belly of a Whale" by Tom Waits? Helluva song and a bass version would be epic and sweeping and artistically challenging to do, which I guess would be 'fun' for you, but it's certainly not a light-hearted ditty!

Lori Templeman

My reactions to these wild names for plug-ins is the same as everyone else's, and I've now got Dory in my head speaking whale.

Jacky Friedman

No clue either. Lots of songs it could be. Although my mind went to some type of sea shanty. And at first I read BOV as Boy 😂 until I read it in the black area. Duh me!!!!

Mia

I'm guessing something outside after dark. Moody rather than peppy. Can't wait 🤩

Amanda Hovendon

I see the word Noire and I’m thinking it’s a jazz song. 1920’s ish But I could be wrong.

Nic

Work, work, work. And a second helping of more work. And a side of work with that. Throw in some work to wash it all down.

Filiz E

Not a clue, but I am super excited now!!

Amanda Nott

Somewhere over the rainbow? That's a pretty silly guess, but that was the first thing that popped in my head when I saw all the colors in the image. I might try to do a more serious guess when I can look at it on a much bigger screen. It's too hard to see much of anything on a little tiny phone screen lol!

Mona Iren Hugaas

You got me stumped there, Geoff. It looks like a lot of fun.

Roxanne

If you go to YouTube and type in granular whale song plug-in, you can actually hear what it sounds like. It's pretty cool.

Wendy Allen

Something with whale song intro? Sea shanty or from little mermaid?

HGeek

I see a lot of piano🤔 but no clue as to what song it is. Your voice paired with piano is a perfect combination to kick start this year! Can't wait for the song🤓

Cloudy Skies

I see background vocals in a variety of registers, so definitely Geoff clones. Lots of piano. Maybe something moody...whale song and noir. So, my conclusion is that I haven't a clue. Lol. Whatever it is, we'll love it.

Lori Chaslot

Basses, locusts, and whales! Oh, my!

gloomy

My first thought was: There are creatures, please let it be something from The Witcher. But that doesn't really fit, so I have no clue. Just looking forward to it.

Dylan Reubenking

Based on whales, piano, the mmmms and the early percussion, I'm thinking Will You Be There by Michael Jackson? I'd be blown away if you did a version of that song

Cynthia Ross

I have no clue whatsoever. 🙂

Del Rhea Watson

One of the first and most notable songs incorporating whale songs? No More Tears by Ozzy Osbourne. I’d up my tier if it turned out to be that one!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Ilona Dever

Whale song? Has to be the Star Trek theme..... No? Drat!

Angie Woollard

Ok…I think this is an intentional mis-lead. “Ooh look at this shiny session screenshot! Look over here!” Instead, I’m gonna focus on the phrase “surprisingly fun.” A song you were reluctant to do in the first place? Wicked Game? *makes pointing at own eyes with two fingers and then pointing fingers outward, “I’m onto you” kind of motion*

Rose Arthur

Oh yeah, you're right. I forgot. It would be cool to hear him do the full song though.

Leonie Frenkert-Ghazi

Geoff, unfortunately I don't speak this "language" at all... But I'm eagerly awaiting it! You'll do very well again, I'm sure!

Shari Hibberd

No clue.....but intrigued!! Whales,locust and aliens......hummmmm.

Katherine Linkous

No idea, but seeing what looks like granular whale song has me intrigued.🤔🤔🤔

Patricia Schuman

Feeling a little Thurlish again? Asleep in the Deep?

Grim Grinning Tracy

How about one great Disney song Whale of a Tale by Kirk Douglas

Prose

:) Anything you found "surprisingly fun" -- I can't wait!

Anja Eder

Geoff, you see me sitting here at a loss....well done! I even googled this "labs: walgesang"....it sounds fun....surprise me/us all!!!!! You have set the bar very high...I have one idea, no two, BUT: I won't tell you! 😉

Bonnie Kaupp

No idea whatsoever but waiting with bated breath. 😊

Silv E

No guess yet (I can tell my brain is going to keep working on it whether I want it to or not, though). Granular whalesong, analog strings, and many, many Geoffs - I can't wait!

Silv E

Let's put our heads together, people - see how the verses get longer?

Mary Benno

Everything I Need - Skylar Grey from Aquaman Soundtrack?

Tema Krempley

No clue. Excited nonetheless. You like leaving us stumped, don’t you? Edit: I’m amazed you can make sense of that stuff! It’s a foreign language to me! Color me impressed.

Rebecca Hendricks

A new song? Tell me it's a new song! Or a new audiobook?! Tell me it's more of your voice work!!

Lois McCray

Every time I think of whales I think of Calypso, John Denvers' tribute to Jacques Cousteau. As an only child the best evenings with my parents watching a Jacques Cousteau specials on the TV it was like magic.

Ashley Evers

I'm going to guess King of the Road based on the percussion coming in so quick, but I have no idea how whale sounds would fit into that 🤣

Lady D Richter

Well, I can't figure the song, but in looking up granular whale song, I found it was originally created for "Ocean at the End of the Lane" stage production. The OST for this is amazingly haunting and beautiful. No vocals, but a wonderful listen! So, Geoff, thanks for being the catalyst for something new to hear!

Ellen L Brownell

So colorful! I tried and tried but couldn't make heads nor whale tails out of it. I would be very happy if it was Calypso (love that song) and excited to hear you hit those high notes. Also, locusts and whales? Strange combo.

Rhonda Davey

Based on the question, perhaps something sad and melancholic?

Ashley Evers

It may also be wishful thinking a little 🤣

Dorothy Rosenberg

Not a clue. I know nothing about music; but I’m pretty sure “Baby Driver” doesn’t have whales or locusts as backgrounds. If you had fun making it, it’s sure to be great. Looking forward to being surprised.

Lori Templeman

I can imagine the folks at YouTube looking at the data: "There has been a sudden uptick in views for Granular Whalesong, and it seems to be coming from people who frequently search for a cappella content!"

Suzy Bailey

I'm guessing something you weren't sure you wanted to do, hence the 'surprisingly' fun? As I don't speak your very colourful musical/plug-in language, wouldn't have a clue, but can't wait to have fun hearing whatever it is!

Leisa S

Geoff can you at least help us a little somehow. How about doing a tutorial explaining what we are looking at. Or for us non music folk maybe having some lyrics showing somewhere 🤭🤭🤭 Can’t wait to hear / see it I have no doubt it will be amazing 🥰

Agnes EvaR

Hmmm. No idea. But I can't wait.

Beth Walsh

Yeah exactly what I was thinking

Lisa Kettlewell

Idk. Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. The movie song. Not the original. I would also Love to hear you narrate some of the poems from Shel Silverstein’s Where the sidewalk ends. Especially the peanut butter sandwich one and the I cannot go to school today. Or heck. Read the whole thing. 😋

Mikki Fullerton

Jazz or at least jazz influence might go with those vamp sections also...

SunnyOutlook

If I guessed, I'm pretty sure it will be wrong. I'm just looking forward to another song from you.

Emma Yadkin

Of all your many talents, the ability to make sense of everything shown on this screen impresses me the most. What ever it is I look forward to hearing it.

Karen Grace

Not sure but it looks like a fair amount of "instruments" involved in the composition. Including the human one.

Dawn Wilson

Not much of a clue, lol, background vocals, piano, ??? bass lol I'm sure it'll be great!

Jacky Friedman

I was laying here a bit ago listening to "The Last Goodbye" by Clamavi De Profundis while resting. And a thought came into my head. You said "surprisingly fun" and seeings how you didn't know what a certain song was that everyone was suggesting..... that's the one that popped into my head. Because it is a very fun song. Diggy Diggy Hole. I'm guessing too that "Labs" mean the sound of. Not the actual item. Don't quote me though. Glad you had fun none the less.

Maryse B

I have no idea that maybe this song but I can’t wait to discover it.

Denaliland

Not A Clue but I know it will be stunning.

Erma Payne

It looks like another beautiful piano piece with Geoff's amazing voice, hopefully something romantic like Till Then. Guess we will have to wait till then, but whatever it is will be worth it!

Mikki Fullerton

My only guess to fit the structure of the song is neither typically piano based nor a song I'd expect Geoff to cover, so I'm stumped as well. Looking forward to whatever it turns out to be, though!

Rosie Boughen

Well I can’t cheat when you crop the name off the top of the picture 😜 *sigh* I guess I’ll have to wait to find out 🙃

Sarah Borzelli

Hey, same brain! I made exactly the same guess based on the same thing earlier in the comments here. Though somehow the whale sound thing kinda took me into that Wicked Game world too.

Silv E

If you don't mind saying, what song is it? I couldn't think of any that fit this structure very well!

kris ivy

I don’t know why, but the idea of it being Wayfaring Stranger is stuck in my head.

Kourtney Frantz

Wishing you were here? 🤷🏻‍♀️ Would love to hear that by him or the guys!!😍

Tara Williamson

I can't think of a song with three verses where each verse is longer than the last. Whatever this song is, I'm definitely intrigued.

Anne Voss

I can: something like old Mac Donald for example. Not that this is necessarily that but that also keeps expanding

Jamie Marcus

🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤘🏻Have no idea but hopefully PJ or AIC 🙂 one can dream

Amanda Hovendon

Could you please give us a little bit more of a clue? Cause a lot of us aren’t music tech savvy if you know what I mean 😂. Like I have no idea what notes you’re playing here

Lisa Kettlewell

A couple of more thoughts. You’ve finally given in and done Ol’ Man River for us. Or Calling Occupants from Interplanetary Earth by the Carpenters. Do we win anything if we get it right? 🤣

Lori Kingston

Oh, I would love for him to do that one!

Lori Kingston

Oh, I love Carpenters -- would love for him to do Calling Occupants!!! And did you notice that one of the lines in the list of sounds on the far left says "whale song"? That would be perfect! And yes, I know I'm six months behind schedule here -- has anyone figured out what this is? Or has he said? I just joined his patreon last month.
