I had a dream last night that Haley was getting her stunt plane license for a piloting job at the Super Bowl. Do we know if there’s any truth to this potential prognostication?

Daniel May

Hi MinnMax, I love hearing what everyone is excited to play and see this year! In that vein, what are some big fat green flags that make you excited for something (or conversely, what are the red flags?)?

Random Oil Man

What's your least anticipated game that you know you're still going to play?

Josh Lamm

What kind of question would you not want to answer?

Paddy

Would you ever consider auctioning off the choice of what deepest dive ye would cover next as part of your charity stream? Assuming there was stipulations like it can't be too niche, hard to access our just plain terrible. If no, what have is the reason you'd never want to do this if chosen (kingdom hearts for Ben?)

Swansonge

What is the best alphabet letter and why? (“And y” *bad-dum-tss*)

Ethan Quist

I have a trio that plays games every Sunday night, and to start our year off we're doing a "Vegetable/Cake" series. We're playing a healthy amount of each of our favorite games that the other two don't really like, so the two eat their vegetables and the the other gets their Cake. We just finished the first full game of Civilization 6 that I've ever played, next We're going to Snowrunner, and then it will be wrapped up by hopefully playing a good amount of Abiotic Factor. What is your big all timer game that you would force people to play even if they dont really like it?

CaffeineDad

Hey gang! My friends and I just had our 5th annual Fantasy Critic draft. Who got away with the best 1st round draft pick? They were: Grand Theft Auto 6, Saros, Wolverine, and Forza Horizon 6. We also have 2 unannounced game slots. Which of these will actually come out this year? Unannounced Half-Life game, Unannounced Pokemon Generation 10 game, Unannounced Animal Crossing game, or Unannounced Persona 6?

Kraven Morcome

Hi MinnMax, We are about a month out from RE9 so I got to ask, what are the odds we get a deepest dive for it? I personally think RE4, and really any horror game you've done, make for your best Deepest Dives. There is something about the genre that seems to lead to a more in depth conversation of mechanics. At the very least we need a breakdown of Leon's new grunts/whimpers on Pew Pew Bang. Cheers!

Catpurrnicus

Are peeled banana peels really slippery? Was there a epidemic of people slipping on banana peels that a psa was put out and now we don't leave them lying on the ground? Would testing their slipperiness make a good New Show Plus?

Sweet Karoline

Kelsey is a baseball fan, specifically the NY Metropolitans. Janet enjoys soccer and often talks about the LAFC. Do any other cohorts enjoy sports? And does anyone at MinnMax play any kind of sport video games? Love the show!

That's Mildly Raven

I realize this is weird to ask, but it's been driving me crazy. Last year I wrote in with the question "what's one thing you would change if you were rebooting Star Wars?" When answering the question Ben said "ok here's what you do" multiple times and he was cut off every time, never finishing the thought. Every time Star Wars comes up in conversation now I hear Ben in my head saying "ok here's what you do." Please give me closure. WHAT DO YOU DO?!

FinalSin

Hey all, with us all being probably the last generation to see or goto, a movie theater, a mall,a department store, drive in, know what its like to rent physical stuff. How does that make you feel ? And what other things do u think the next generation will never experience?

JG

Hey CLCs, I’ve been watching the recent NoClip doc about the making (not legal fallout) of Disco Elysium. I’ve been very surprised by how lucid the writers are, and how accurate they have been in assessing their work, rather than other creatives who give you too much context/info in interviews or misjudge sentiment. Do you guys feel you have a firm grasp on the works you produce too? Love you guys!

Trumanji

with pragmata adding on to gaming’s sad dad / father figure trope, which popular game characters are UNFIT to raise a child

Neal McMahon

Hey MinnMax, I was trimming my fingernails the other day and realized, “Didn’t I just do this like a week ago?” Got me wondering — how often are you guys clipping your nails? What’s the ideal nail length for you?

JeffM's Backlog

How much do you pre-wash your dishes before putting them in the dishwasher?

SlyCut

Hello all, If you went back in time, would you steal the ideas of others before they had them?

Tess

Hello MinnMax! What's do you like more: old things or new things?

Alex McMillan

Hey MinnMaxxers, With Microsoft continuing to fumble every opportunity with Xbox, do you think it is still right to refer to the “Big 3” when talking about Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo? If Xbox continues with its current patterns of action, do you think we still talk about the “Big 3” in a few years time? Do we drop down to a “Big 2”, or does someone else takes Xbox place in the “Big 3” turn of phrase? All the best, Alex

BEEFCAKE

I just want to pop in to recommend the music streaming service Qobuz. They have a good selection of music, pay artist the MOST of all the streaming platforms, and it sounds reeally good, and from what I can tell, not owned by total pieces of shit

BurnAfterGaming

Hey MinnMax, As a 30+ gamer with a desk job, I am beginning to feel the aches and pains. My neck, my wrist, my thumbs… Do you guys have any nagging gaming pains? Any tips on remedies or preventative measures? Stay limber out there!!

Jack Seage

It's time for a game! A Nonary Game!!! The nine MinnMax cohorts suddenly come to consciousness only to discover they're trapped together and must simultaneously attempt four difficult escape rooms to earn their freedom. Each escape room has a variety of puzzles which will require various skill sets / knowledge bases to solve, and after a group of cohorts enter a room escape will be impossible until all rooms have been solved. How do you distribute yourselves for the best chance of victory? Who among you (aside from Ben) is most likely to be the secret mastermind who set up this scenario?

Joe Doyle

Which big game of 2026 do you think is most likely to get delayed out of 2026? And what do you think the biggest announcement of a game to be released in 2026 will be?

starbittz

If sega continued making consoles after the game gear, dreamcast, saturn; what would their names and gimmick be for each generation?

ChickenHarm

Hi MinnMaxers! We’ve put a CRT TV into our 6 year old’s room with my old N64. Before you call us bad parents, it is not hooked up to any other media device and she is only interested in playing with it when one of us is present. We have been playing Ocarina of Time together, which has been great, but she’s understandably too intimidated to play it without us. I can't find my old OG strategy guide which I think would help her with some of the puzzle solving and immerse her into the world. I recently received my Mega Man Hand Drawn Guide which I supported on Kickstarter and has made replaying the original Mega Man a true joy. Do you think there is a real market for printed strategy guides to make a comeback? Thanks! -Evan

Julian Magee

How often does Leon Kennedy have to shave? Is his chest hair quantity above or below average? These are the things that keep me up at night

Timothy Law

Hi MinnMax, as Star Citizen approaches the 1 Billion dollar crowdfunding mark, what are your opinions on the game?

Chuck Zich

Did any of you work at game stores when you were younger? I worked at babbages and then a GameStop in high school and college and both were some of the greatest jobs I've had. From GoldenEye tournaments with customers to playing saria's song on repeat over the speakers during the holidays. I think the best experiences were living through the hype of some of the biggest games of all time releasing like pokemon red and blue, ocarina of time, StarCraft, half life, etc. would love to hear some stories.

Bon Jon Bovi

Back in the late 2000's to the early 2010's it felt like we were getting a lot of shooters interested in exploring how grotesque their subject matter actually is. Spec Ops: The Line, Kane and Lynch 2, Far Cry 2... are there any shooters still trying for this angle?

Benjamin

Do you review the games you play on Steam?

Fancygraham

How do you make your microwave popcorn? a. You have your own set time but you stand by the microwave just to make sure you don’t burn it. b. You have your own set time and you walk away because you know your microwave incredibly well. c. You use the popcorn button d. None of the above.

Victor Pham

What are the best tips on how to deal with ICE in your city?

ayr

Hi MinnMax! What's the temperature on DLC these days? It was the hottest of topics 5-10 years ago but now it feels like most have accepted it as a fact of life. Still, big titles like Ghost of Yotei are starting to see a major expansion as something optional rather than an expectation. Has the language just shifted to "microtransactions" or is there some kind of a culture shift you've noticed? Thanks for making great content, this month marks a full year of backing the patreon and it has been a treat to enjoy MinnMax during a ghastly year. Here's to a brighter 2026!

Luca Alberti

Howdy MinnMax crew! Last week I came home from a 2 week trip to Japan! I had an amazing time and ate more amazing meals than I could count. the only downside? Sushi and ramen in my home country are nowhere near as good as the one made there. What was the last time you had food so good it ruined a comfort/recurring food in your life?

Cody A

Hey minnmax. I saw a video of a woman trying out for the U.S. Olympic handball team despite never having played. This is because the U.S is hosting the 2028 games and get a spot in every competition even in events we aren't typically good at. So which event you think you have the best shot at getting accepted into the 2028 Olympics

Sergio

If you committed a crime, would Scooby-Doo catch you?

Manuel T

All of you are published authors. What would you like to be your next book? (Jacob can respond with a third hypothetical book since the second one is coming out)

Fancygraham

Which is worse: spending your money on LEGO or spending your money in a gacha game?

Chandler

Why do people say things like "that's big" and "that's huge" but never "that's large"?

Chris Pelley

I've never tried Pokemon or Monster Hunter. What one game between either series should I try this year that will be fun solo and without any other series experience needed?

Jon

What are your most anticipated updates to existing games for 2026? Could be DLC, mods, ports, or even media tie-ins or merch.

Jeremy Banks

Hey MinnMax, what is something that feels like it's been around a lot longer in the world than it actually has been? For me it's the high-five; it's a gesture everyone does, but it wasn't "invented" until the late 70s by baseball player Dusty Baker. Meaning, it wasn't even something most of our parents would have grown up with

Sam Kennedy

Hey MinnMax, I was looking through some old stuff and found this poem I wrote in elementary school. Here it is, unabridged: Wii So many games To buy Lots of characters And super powers Big or small Enemies Or even you! All that In One Disc I love Wii! Do you have any weird or nerdy old school projects to share?

Joe Kafchinski

I don't know if you're familiar with Paul DePodesta (he was the inspiration for Jonah Hill's character in Moneyball) but he's had the highly unusual career trajectory of being General Manager of an MLB team (the Dodgers) to the NFL (the Browns) to, now, back to MLB (the Rockies). For some reason, this made me think of Peter Moore, who went from Sega to Xbox to EA to, somehow, Liverpool FC and now Reebok. I wonder if you know of any other games or games-adjacent folks with crazy or unexpected career paths that might surprise people.

Phelix Diaz

If movie trailers are a shortened experience of the full movie. Are demos the real trailers of video games and therefore every game should have a demo?

Infinite

I once had to call poison control because my old boss once drank Windex, on purpose, to make a point… he was fine, but it was one of the most insane things I’ve experienced at work. What’s the most insane things y’all have experienced at work?

Mabroon

When was the last time you wrote something by hand that wasn't your signature? Do you worry that handwriting will become somewhat of a lost art in the not-so-distant future?

Oliver Smith

Hey cohorts, In the game awards trailer for Requiem that revealed Leon, it also revealed that he would driving an actual Porsche. It reminded me of my favourite game product placement--the time they put Mercedes into Mario Kart. What are your favourite bits of out there product placement in games?

Douglas Bryant

Hello MinnMax Crew! What is your partner's favorite piece or part of work you have created?

Waytogo_Wes

Buenos dias Minnaxers! If your life was a video game, what normal thing do you do that you would try to score a "critical hit" on? For example, I love to cook and when ever I'm sauteing something and I get that perfect flip in the pan, I imagine that as a critical hit!

SenttheProphet

Ben what’s your business feeling on Netflix buying podcasts? (Like Bill Simmons, Pardon my Take) for their video only? Would you sell MinnMax video only to Netflix for a bajillion dollars? I have found myself using the Netflix video for now, but curious on your thoughts in these podcast wars. It seems like Netflix is trying to take on YouTube directly in this market

Vilis

Hey Cohorts, did you hear that The Las Vegas Sphere is spreading? One near a casino outside DC and another apparently coming to Dubai I think. Are they going to dominate the greatest work of art of that year's 2 Two-Tens when they finish being constructed?

Talyn

Hey Cohorts. With 2026 in full swing and 2025 in the rear view, what gaming trends have we seen recently that are currently dying or need to die out? This can either be trends in games themselves or things gamers do. Also, we should do FF9 deepest dive this year! Talyn- Seth M

Nathan Ryer

Hey MinnMax! What classic horror game franchises need a new game or remake? I still bust out my copy of Eternal Darkness at least once a decade and I’m still waiting for a new entry.

Sleeksaber

Hi MinnMax. If you had the money to buy one existing game IP and fully fund development of an entry, which would you purchase, and what direction would you take the game?

Cath

How do you become good at platformer? I always fall or end up short of a jump and it makes me redo the whole level. I stop playing some amazing game cause I was stuck.

Fachasaurus

Has a video game ever unlocked a new level of appreciation for everyday life? Only after seeing the rain physics in DriveClub did I really start to notice the rain while driving IRL. Now I find myself mesmerized by how water beads pool up on the windshield or swishes away with the wipers. Something so mundane in our day to day that you wouldn't have thought about without experiencing a version of it in a video game!

Paul McHugh

Hey Minnmax, I was late to the party playing through Expedition 33, and am in the last stretch. Being a turn based RPG head, I have been loving the new mechanics this game has added to the genre. Besides the obvious active dodging system, having the ability to use AP to have a quick attacking option without using a turn up is something I hope many games steal in the future. What game mechanic have you run into that made you hope that all the future games of that genre use it.

Admiral Ackbar's Snackbar

Hey Ben, Kelsey, Jacob and Kyle, I was having a conversation about the games with the most subversive narrative. Naturally Bioshock’s ”would you kindly” and Undertale’s XP came up but I’m wondering what other game has completely caught you off guard by using well established gaming mechanics to push a narrative forward in an interesting way?

Dayten Rose

There's an episode of Venture Bros where an 8-foot tall space alien is sent to observe humanity in its natural habitat, and any time someone addresses him he shouts "IGNORE ME!" Now I say IGNORE ME all the time, except no one knows the random episode of the random TV show I'm referencing. I want to sit everyone down and make them watch this one specific episode so I don't sound insane. If you could make everyone in your life watch one specific clip, video etc to understand a reference you make all the time, what would you have them watch?

KayBree

Hello! If your favorite game franchise was getting another entry that is "canon", but that entry is the your least favorite type of game (fighting, puzzle, 4x strategy, etc.) would you still play it?

resnet

Hey MinnMax! Where do you guys fall on the spectrum between serious reticent guy and little quirky sidekick that sits on guy's shoulder?

John

The last few years there have been 3-4 major releases that were scheduled to come out that were tailored to my tastes. This year, looking at the line up, there isn't much with a release date for me. Who on the crew expecting to be served well in 2026? Or is it looking like a down year?

Luis Pérez

Hey CLCs! As a BetterQuest goal, I'm committing to journaling every day of the year, trying to have a better way to track my progress family, work and games-wise! My question to you would be: have you ever journaled your life or kept a hyper-specific record of something? Did you learn anything from it? All the best!

Grey Ganado

I only recently realized that Summer Games Done Quick usually takes place in Minnesota. So I was wondering has any of the cohort ever attended or thought about attending it? What are your thoughts about speedrunning in general? Greetings from Germany.

Devin Atlee-Nutts

Hey MinnMaxers, (Probably best read last) If all the previous community questions were icebreakers on a dating app, which ones get you ghosted, and which might get a conversation going?

Femke Smit

Hi all, what widely disliked game feature do you secretly enjoy? E.g. escort missions, enemy health scaling.

CptCobblePot

Is more freedom or less freedom more appealing to you in games? I enjoy being able to carve my own path, but shorter linear experiences give me a better dopamine hit

pork bun powered

Hi MinnMax, As a big resident evil fan, something I struggle with is, "are any of the resident evil game's story... good?" They have memorable characters and moments, but it always feels like the plot is "oh big evil umbrella corp lab". (Hanson voice) Am I nuts?

Jacob Mazanowski

What would your video game super power that isn’t a super power be? The climbing ability of some characters like Nathan Drake would be so good. Talk about strength

Bryce Blackmore

In the interest of getting better, what is a goal for 2026 to get "better"?

Juniper Cain

Hiya gang! Kyle Bosman has twice now been the go-to host when Ben has been on paternity leave, which sort of implies that the best 'back-up Ben' is him. For everyone else then, if you weren't available for an episode of the show but somebody needed to fill *your* slot specifically, who out there is the ideal 'back-up' you?

Tokyo Game Life

We all agree that Deadpool VR deserves its 7.75 score in Game Informer. What I want to know, is Deadpool VR better than these other titles that got a 7.75 in Game Informer? (I included the reviewer for reference): Nier Automata (Joe Juba) Metal Gear Rising Revengence (Joe Juba) Sonic Frontiers (Brian Shea) Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment (Kyle Hilliard) Days Gone (Matthew Kato)

Felix davin

Hello Minnmax. Which game studio could give us the next generation Picross game we all desire ? Cheers.

Luis

Which NPC has delivered the same line so many times that it should count as a cry for help?

Graham Jones

Rank the best Minnmax themed shows: - new year predictions - video game music episode - two tens making the list - two tens ordering the list - minn max awards - 6 shooter episode - games that minnmax missed

Jacob Bryan

How would would each of the cohorts fare if the Minnmax Two Tens discussion was replaced with a rap battle?

Katatat

Hi MinnMax! I’ve been watching a lot of Jeopardy lately which got me to wondering: If you could create a Jeopardy category about video games, what would it be?

Neill Smith

How many students from Last Defense Academy does it take to take down a T800 from terminator.

Travis in Fargo

What video game character has the healthiest work-life balance?

Travis in Fargo

I just became a dutch oven guy. What kind person have you become?

Anton Pinkerton

I watched the new 28 Years Later movie this last weekend and absolutely loved it! After I got home from the theater I hopped on letterboxed and noticed Jacob also saw it and enjoyed it. I'm DYING to hear him talk a bit more about his thoughts on this one because DAMN it was a doozy

Kelsey Sims

January is always a great time to play games in my backlog as I wait for new releases and announcements for the year. What games in your backlogs are you folks playing, or would you like to be playing while you wait for new titles?

Galexzzz

Hi MinnMax! Out of the people on the show today, who has the best lineup of games that have come out on their birthday? My birthday is Feb 4th and that’s the date for when The Sims, XCOM 2, Apex Legends, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance II all came out. If you’re curious you can check https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/games/thisdayingaming?date=2025-MM-DD (replace the MM-DD)

Jason Wojnar

Favorite enemy NPC dialogue in games? Me and my brother consistently quote Max Payne 2 enemy conversations and imitate the "Die Miner!!" And "Party Time!!!" From Red Faction

Wajora

What was the worst game you ever actively decided to replay? And did that change your opinion on it?

Thorn23

Looking ahead to the new year, in terms of the game industry would you say things are looking up (the worst is behind us) or should we brace for things to be as bad and pessimistic (regarding turnover and downsizing) as the last few years? Any cause for some much needed optimism?

L Stockler

Hey! Would you be more excited for a remake of a beloved game from long ago or a sequel?

Duderado

Be honest, how often do you clean your controllers?

errribbb

With the rumors of an expansion of Witcher 3 coming this year (a crisp 11 years after release), is there any game that you’d welcome an expansion to many years later? Even Kingdoms of Amalur (released in 2012) got an expansion in 2021 so anything’s possible.
