Would you rather watch an 80 minute direct to video feature of Dorf Plays Demon’s Souls or Ernest Goes to E3?

Fred Dinovo

Last year it was AI, the year before it was NFTs, what is going to be the big joke gimmick everywhere at this year's GDC?

Sam Worms

Would you rather your favorite game never get a sequel or get a sequel that’s terrible?

Fancygraham

Is there a specific musical style you associate with a game or franchise? For example, I think a lot of people were introduced to Gregorian Chant because of Halo.

whitemex

Do you have any innocent lies your parents told you growing up? Like it's illegal to drive with the cabin lights on in the car

Fachasaurus

Has a video game ever unlocked a new level of appreciation for everyday life? Only after seeing the rain physics in DriveClub did I really start to notice the rain while driving IRL. Now I find myself mesmerized by how water beads pool up on the windshield or swishes away with the wipers. Something so mundane in our day to day that you wouldn't have thought about without experiencing a version of it in a video game!

Joseph Stanichar

Are there any words that for whatever reason you can’t pronounce right? I have no idea why but I cannot say “butcher” right to save my life!

Aadilicious

Hey guys, I know a few folks have mentioned Dragon Ball on the show before. As someone who enjoys listening to you guys, and as someone whose claim to fame is getting Dragon Ball-related game questions correct on Trivia Tower, what are your thoughts on the announcement of the Dragon Ball Super anime finally coming back, also getting a remake, and the newest game announcement for "Age 1000"? Also, looking back to the last year or so, did anyone on the crew watch Dragon Ball Daima, or play Sparking Zero?

Infinite

Hello friends, I’ve been on a history podcast kick, so I’ve been thinking… What historical figure would make the best protagonist for a video game? What kind of game would you build around them? Cleopatra in a Road to Empress kinda VN? Attila the Hun in a Muso game? Alexander in a Tactics tile based game? Would love to hear your ideas, and love the show!

Adam Castellanos

I recently read a book about the 1893 world’s fair and loved it. The fair seemed insane and unbelievable. What do you think a 2026 worlds fair would need and look like? Thank you for the show , I hope you are all well.

MassiveScore

I was stoked to see a stylized version of the Horizon world and characters. Getting a new style of an existing character or franchise is rare these days. But the laziest people on the internet think anything colorful is just trying to appeal to Fortnite players. How can we help people understand that Fortnite doesnt own colorful stylized graphics?

Travis in Fargo

What’s a little indulgence you like to spoil yourself with? I’m pretty frugal, but I have discovered a delectable brand of butter, and now that’s all I buy. I feel like the king of butter island.

The Sleepy MailMan

Hey, MinnMax! The Switch 1 is getting close to outselling the PS2. Can’t Sony just put out the PS2 again in 2026 and bump up the units sold for old times’ sake? And if they can, SHOULD they?

SlyCut

Hello all, What game does Capcom need to remake the most and why is it Dino Crisis?

Josh Johnson

If gaming studios could "cover games" like how musicians "cover songs," which studio would you like to see take on a remake in their own style? Some examples could be monster hunter world team reimagining Pokemon Scarlet. Or team asobi reimagining super Mario 64.

Snark_Nerd

Hey MinnMaxxers, the Olympics are upon us! Has there ever been a decent Olympics-themed video game? If not, why not? Too niche?

Mahmoud Hakim

Yo MinnMaxer’s Films are often studied as literature in high school english. If games were treated similarly, what unconventional pick would you vouch for as an essential “text” for high schoolers?

Catpurrnicus

If your life turned into a video game would you like to be a silent protagonist or have choice driven dialog?

Victor Pham

What do you like to do to feel better when you're feeling sad?

George Perry

Howdy Miners & Maxers! If you had to choose one food item/dish synonymous with your state to compete in a battle against all the other states, what would you choose & how would it fair? I'm from a British city called Leicester (les-tah) & I'd probably either choose Red Leicester cheese or a Melton Mowbray (mow-bree) pork pie!

Jacob Mazanowski

What is your most skilled Hobby that is not related to what you do for work?

Catpurrnicus

The PS2 came out in 2000, PS3 in 2006, PS4 in 2013, and PS5 in 2020. So it seems we're due for the PS6. Do you think Playstation will release a PS6 within the next 2 years or do you think with the price of RAM and GPUs increasing they'll keep riding the current gen for longer?

Swansonge

What do you think would need to happen for us to get a true Super Bowl of gaming? The Game Awards has huge viewership numbers even larger than the Super Bowl, but that’s an awards show. I’m thinking a video game competition or match on the same scale.

RynaGoGo

Dune is a desert biome movie. Predator is a jungle biome movie. Water World is a great Costner biome movie. What are the best biome movies? (Ice, Lava, Plains, Swamp, Forest, Jungle, Sky, Space. House?)

Geebeesee

If I say ‘video games,’ what line of dialogue do you immediately hear in your head?

Dominic Cichocki

Dear Minnimus Maximals, Mewgeneics and Metroid Prime 4 are two of the latest examples of games with long development cycles finally beating the odds and releasing years after their first announcements. Pragmatic and those two unreleased Virtual Boy games are another interesting couple of examples coming very soon. What I want to know is, what's next? Blizzard is rumored to be making a Starcraft-themed shooter again, so will we see a game called Starcraft Ghost? With all the hubub about Ubisoft still working on it, might Beyond Good and Evil 2 be real? Maybe it's Star Citizen? Or perhaps Deep Down, Little Devil Inside, or Way to the Woods? Realistically it might be Judas, but that feels like an easy answer! Thanks so much and have fun at GDC!

Josh Lamm

Writing in from China. What discontinued fast food item do you always hope and pray will return?

Brian W

What’s the most frustrating conversation you’ve ever listened to on a podcast or interview? For all of minnmax listeners it was probably how Jeffm talked about researching TVs for years before finally buying one and nobody even asked what kind it was!

Vilis

I heard in a conversation on Geekenders with the MewGenics guys, aka the Binding of Isaac guys Edmund McMillen and Tyler Glaiel, that Binding of Isaac was meant to be a brief trial run for MewGenics, but then B.o.I. took off and it took them this long to circle back to MewGenics. Do y'all know of any other popular games which started as a trial run for a later game or maybe a game that never ended up coming out?

Will K.

If minn max was around in 2018, what would've been at the top of the two tens?

Mike Lynch

CREATE THE ULTIMATE GAME! As a group, pick your favorite for each of the following options. Make a list to create the ultimate Video Game! -WHAT'S THE BEST?: •Main hero •Main Villain •Skybox •World type (individual levels, open world, open zone) •Studio •Music By •Style Of Game •Pet The Dog? Which Dog? •Puzzles?

Jeremy Banks

Hey MinnMax, if you were told that at the end of 2026, one of the major yearly sports games (The Show, FC Club, Madden, 2K,etc) was a *consensus* choice in the group for the Two Tens, what significant change in these games would be needed to get it to that point? Which sport is the most likely to make this change?

Hisham Berro

What happens to the great unanswered questions? which heaven do they go to?

Chandler

Hi minnmax I'm still curious about Leo's MGSV mods. That's one of my favorite games and I would love to hear if he found some way to breathe new life into it. Can you let him on the podcast so he can talk about it? Or call him right now or make up an answer or something?

Bryan Tylec

People are always asking for Ben’s notes on the latest season of Survivor, but what I really want to know is what are Janet’s thoughts so far on the new season of Frieren?

Thomas

Howdy Ben, Kyle, Jeff and Janet! I'm not a cryer, but by golly, if you throw on some kkb (kero kero bonito) I get all choked up. Specifically their songs "Hey Parents", "Trampoline", and "Picture This". The 100% balls to the wall wholeness just gets me. Are there any songs that make you cry? Also, are you a sad cryer or happy cryer? - Tom not crying in Utah.

Alex McMillan

Hey MinnMax, Survivor 50 starts in a couple of weeks, and there is at least one Survivor fan on the panel. Will you be watching? Are you excited for anyone coming back? Isn’t it wild for a show to reach its fiftieth season? All the best, Alex McMillan - Thrivin’ in Northern Ireland

SuperThisWay

Hey all, when did you realized you played your favorite game? Was it while playing it, after beating it, while writing/talking about it, etc?

Felix davin

Hello Minnmax! One of my great unresolved question in life is : do you think cavemen and cavewomen felt love ?

Deme mitiku

Hey gang! Really quick want to thank you for being vocal during the protests and standing on business against ICE. Amazing work! My question is, what's a popular video game that you've never understood the hype for, and why?

thejjuan1

Hi Minnmax crew. My question to all of you is, Do we let user reviews have too much power over media? Steam reviews, metacritic user score, etc. I feel like some people have too much faith in the users' reviews. When Highguard released, it did get negative reviews because of its performance. But 70% of the reviews were negative because of review bombing on steam. The same thing happened with rotten tomatoes user scores recently. You are telling me that Iron Lung and the Melana movie have higher user scores than the Godfather and Lord of the Rings. I’m sorry, but I think users' scores are the most inaccurate metric to judge games and movies. But I feel like we are letting that user score be more important than the critic score.

Dennis Cortes

What are some of your most memorable guest moments on MinnMax that you still think about? Could be because it was funny, heartfelt, relevant, etc! I’ve been listening for a while but a recent moment that’s etched into my brain was the Metal Gear Solid bit about Umamusume and Charles Harte saying “horse game” just like Snake over and over again 😂 it’s a joke my wife and I reference at least once a week because we were crying laughing about it

Jarell Pryor

Hey folks, hope you're all staying safe and relatively sane lately. For a whole year you have to always wear the same outfit on content! Your public persona becomes more like a cartoon character that never changes clothes. How does it change your relationship to your work? (You can have duplicate clothes for the sake of cleanliness)

Random Oil Man

Rank these Japanese Game Devs: - Suda51 - Hidetaka Miyazaki - Yoko Taro - Fumito Ueda - Hideo Kojima

Nathan Ryer

Hey MinnMax! How spicy is too spicy?

Thom Blackburn

What's your favorite "new" place? New York, New England etc

Femke Smit

Hey folks! What are some games you’d recommend for people trying to learn how to use a controller? I myself found Slime Rancher a great game for getting used to moving the camera and myself around in 3D space, and BOTW was great for learning simplistic combat, but I’m still so awful at more complex 3D platforming and timed combat that even Mario Odyssey is out of my reach still

Travis in Fargo

What video game do you think has had the most copies thrown in the trash? Not donated or traded in: tossed in an actual garbage can. My thought is the original Mortal Kombat (due to parents feeling scandalized by the violent content), although my parents made me throw away Pokémon Yellow.

Juniper Cain

Hi all! Whenever I'm reading game descriptions, the usage of the word "outrageous" tends to put me off, because I've never enjoyed a game that's been described that way. That's probably just coincidence! But now when I see the word used I assume I'm more likely to feel negative about whatever it's describing. Do you have any buzzwords like this? That aren't inherently bad in of themselves, but you've seen used to describe so many games you dislike, it now registers as a bad sign to you?

Rocky Disco

Difficultly is a tricky topic. A coworker asked about silksong and I warned them away from it because they don't play that many games. Do we need a howHardToBeat site to go along with howLongToBeat?

Travis in Fargo

The Traitors is great television. Have you been enjoying any good reality TV lately?

Brian Lyness

Hi folks, What's the hardest you've ever laughed at something in your life? Minnmax has given me two recent ones that I was laughing my head off at. Ben with his Link "Zelda I'm coming" comment that had Janet crying with laughter. The other was Leo messing with the Get A Load Of This sound bite, playing it at 2-3 times the normal speed & repeating it over & over. Silly but hilarious! The GOAT though for me is back in Game Informer when someone wrote in to the podcast & ask if you could silently blow kisses to each other for 30 seconds & hilariously you went ahead with it Ben. The tears were literally streaming down my face in laughter.

Jump On Everything

Can you think of one common element between all your favourite games?

Jonas Schlotterbeck

What's a small project you could do around your home that would instantly improve you quality of life (squeaky door, dropping faucet, etc.) and why aren't you doing it? Go do it.

Cath

Which Olympic sport should every cohort should compete and why JeffM is bobsleigh

Stefan Swanlund

What are your favorite local places to eat?

Kanchilla

What Ben-isms have you adopted into your life? I for one can't stop saying "in a big way" which is confusing to anyone who doesn't know who Minnmax is

BigTony

What game do you wish had a Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection level documentary?

Brocquin Alexander

Hey Max, I was watching Leo's stream yesterday and when asked what we could do to help stop the current and future ICE occupations Marie mentioned connecting and supporting your local communities. I love seeing how the Minneapolis is supporting each other during this struggle and it's been a big inspiration! My question is, what do you do to connect with your local communities and neighbors? How can I better reach out to neighbors and people around me?

GreenMountainState

Hey MinnMax, What is your solution for storing shoes? We're a family of 4 and have a shoe mat by the front door but it just turns into a mountain of shoes and boots sprawling well beyond the entryway? Have you all figured this out and have a recommendation? Cheers from VT

Tess

Hey MinnMax! I'm sick of all these genre debates and think we need to go back to the good ol' days: just Comedy and Tragedy. Can you help me sort out which of these games are which? Persona 5 Octodad: Dadliest Catch 1000xRESIST Fortnite Kirby and the Forgotten Land

Hayden Scott-Baron

What is a multiplayer game you love but is too hard to arrange? For me it is Saturn Bomberman with 10 players. It’s a huge spaghetti of cables but totally worth it. I keep moving house with boxes of controllers just in case.

Chuck Zich

How about some Crimson Desert predictions. The game comes out in about a month and all of the footage honestly looks too good to be true. Could this be a modern day Witcher 3 on steroids or just some flashy PR to a shallow game or something in between? I'd love to see it succeed but am proceeding with caution, where do you all stand on it as of right now?

Elias Armendariz

From gaming on a potato to a super computer, how much are you MinnMaxing your gaming PCs?

Onlinesquid

What video game song are you picking for your figure skating routine

Lamb Dance

Hey MinnMax, enjoyed last week's episode dedicated to Nintendo's legacy of weirdness. Here's a question that occurred to me: What do you think is the "weirdest" thing Sony and Xbox have ever done?

ThomperPippin

If you go by Dragon Quest rules and every series' mascot is its most basic, introductory enemy, which game franchise has the best one? Does anything have a shot at beating our beloved slime?

Jonathan Yeckley

Which video game soundtrack brings you the most inner peace? For me, it’s always the Kingdom Hearts 1 soundtrack. It reminds me of playing that game with my brother as a kid and helps me get through a tough day at the office.

Christian King

I apologize if this has been asked before, but I wanted some advice. How do you find time to play games for fun while balancing doing work and being a parent? Are you able to sneak in longer game sessions or is it all short breaks on the switch/steam deck type device?

Sincerly, Eric

I asked my Daughter to submit her ideas for a question this week. She said "What was the funniest video game moment from last year?"

SenttheProphet

Are you surprised there isn’t a “Super Bowl” for video games yet? If you asked me 15 years ago as e-sports was accelerating in popularity, by now we would have one Would you say we have one already? What game would best serve to be a Super Bowl of esports? It would have to be easy enough to follow, disqualify in my mind games like call of duty, Overwatch

Cody West

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, mostly in regards to the trend of indie-horror pushing more toward that lo-fi ‘PSX’ look, what console generation do you look back on most fondly in terms of aesthetic? This is very generalized (clearly not everything in the sixth generation looked like Wind Waker) but as an overall view on the aesthetics and visual trends of a certain generation or specific console, what seems to be your favorite?

Jack Seage

Ahoy hoy, CLC's! Who is the Bob Ross of gaming / game design?

IdentityCrisis

Hey MinnMax! With the resounding ambivalence/negativity towards live service games lately, I've been wondering: is there a single player franchise that would get you excited if they announced a live service game?

Matthew Delprado

What’s the best free thing you’ve ever gotten? A ‘thing’ not an experience. A toy in a cereal box when you were a kid? Merch from a publisher? Something you claimed from neighbourhood trash? Do you still have it?

Robert Draa

I know there's been a lot of fretting and fussing in the industry about games like roblox having more concurrent players than all of steam or whatever. I think this worry is overstated but an underdiscussed factor in it's success is how it can run on anything from gaming pcs to phones to old, crappy laptops. Do you think this a direction that non-live-service games could aim for and not just indie darlings like balatro?

Denham Harry

What is your dream studio to go back and make a game for the Virtual Boy?

Cass Wilkinson Saldaña

JeffM's wonderful Baby Steps moment in the Two Tens conversation nudged me to give the game a try - and I'm so glad I did. I'm having a great time activating my failson's glutes, but i'm ALSO having a great time sharing little stories from the game with family and friends. Someone doesn't need a background in games to respond to the ridiculous premise of yes, you control each leg independently, and yes, sometimes that means you slide face-first down the mud for hundreds and hundreds of feet. this got me thinking - what games have you found make for the best stories and moments connecting with people in your life who will likely never play that game? thanks!!

Leon Kennedy’s Shoulders

Hey Everyone! I was catching up on the Game Informer show when in an old episode they were talking about how Larian basically said that GamePass was basically a waste of time and money for studios. While I sympathize with Larian’s position (especially after Baldur’s Gate) , I also think that they’re discounting the loyalty of super fans. It’s true that on a per capita basis they’re making less money per people who played, but I loved the game *so* much that I bought it on Xbox, then bought it on PlayStation to play with specific friends, then got gamepass so I could stream the game on my phone when I’m out and about. I don’t know how long it was on gamepass, but at a minimum I gave larian studios $160 of my money that would otherwise have been $60 (and would otherwise have been much more if hello games didn’t release updates for free). What do you guys think? Do you think the exposure you get as a studio from gamepass is outweighed by the hit you take on game sales who are pretty meh on it?

CaffeineDad

Hey gang! What are your current film and TV recommendations that may be a little under the radar? Last year Kyle recommended that people watch a movie called Kpop Demon Hunters, and I think the year before that he recommended Ready, Set, Love. I watched both because of those recommendations and loved them!

Mellow Felloh

Hey MinnMaxxers! Has the specific place you play games changed over the years? For example, as a kid I would play on my bed until the Wii era where I would play in the living room, then at my desk from the 360 era onward. Best, Mellow Felloh

BEEFCAKE

Would you rather have your eyes on your palms Pan's Labyrinth Style, or you can read minds but you can only hear the negative thoughts people think about you and you can't turn it off?

McGreevy

I am writing this question from cruising altitude. It has inspired me, cohorts, what is the best flight you've ever been on, what made it so good? -McGreevy over Malaysia

James Darley

Hey gang! If you could experience any game for the first time again, what would it be and why? Are there any moments in games that would resonate more with you now due to your lived experiences, compared to when you first encountered them? Thanks for keeping me entertained during my dog walks!

Travis in Fargo

If you had to do that job interview thing of saying what your greatest weakness is while framing it as a positive, what would you say about yourself?

resnet

Heyyy MinnMax! The Steven Univers vinyl got me thinking: do you guys have a favorite gemstone? In or out of videogames.

CptCobblePot

Is more freedom or less freedom more appealing to you in games? I enjoy being able to carve my own path, but shorter linear experiences give me a better dopamine hit

Nick West

As someone who just went back to, and tore through, all of Alan Wake II's DLC, what was the last game you went back to after enough DLC had piled up to pull you back in?

Michael Nickley

Hi guys! People always talk about “comfort shows” like The Office that they go back to over and over again. I’m curious, what are your comfort games? These can be ones that you’ve beaten a million times or that you can always hop into for a session or two when you’re restless. For me, it’s Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction from 2005. How about you?

violapog

Long time listener, first time patreon-er! For a long time, I've been championing the idea that fixed camera angles in games have been unfairly abandoned in the last 10-15 years. They can allow devs to curate such an intentional and cinematic experience for the player that I think is really special! What's a mechanic or development style that you feel has been unfairly left to fade into the sands of time?

Luis

Have you ever felt a genuine pang of guilt for something you did in a game? For example a NPC just gave you their life savings to save their village, and the first thing you do is go into their kitchen and steal all their possessions? I think my first one was to kill or not to kill the Rachni Queen in Mass Effect 1.

Parker Aden

How do we all feel about a new Life Is Strange game being announced within 2ish months of being released? Has it surprised anyone else as much as it has me? Is there a “sweet spot” for games being announced to when they’re released?

Sweet Karoline

Heya Cohorts, Kelsey is a baseball fan, specifically the NY Metropolitans. Janet enjoys soccer and often talks about the LAFC. Do any other cohorts enjoy sports? And does anyone at MinnMax play any kind of sport video games? Love the show!

strategineer

Hello Maxers, you can only ingest one condiment for the rest of your life. Which one do you choose?

Lilly S

Hey MinnMax Cohorts! With some controversy over Dragon Quest 7 coming out in more of a diorama art style, what game, if any, were you hesitant to play due to its art style, but ultimately enjoyed?

Toke F.

What is the best hat in games. Parappas beanie? Salazar's Tricorne hat in RE4? Cappy?

mantaguy

Have you ever considered doing an episode on the best game trailers, as well as your personal favorite ones?

Michael

Are we putting too much pressure on the 'One More Thing' spot in presentations? There seemed to be a universal negative reaction to the Bethesda Switch 2 ports in that slot in the latest Nintendo Partner Direct, and Geoff putting Highguard at the end of the Game Awards seemed to kill any potential hype for that game. Will publishers start asking for their game to *not* be the 'one more thing' to prevent overhype?

Tanner Hoisington

Last week the developers behind the recent Sam and Max remasters announced a remaster of "Poker Night at the Inventory", the Poker game featured Max, Strongbad, The Heavy from TF2, and Tycho from Penny Arcade. If they were to make a new entry, what would you have the cast be? I've got: Guybrush from Monkey Island, Homestar Runner, the dad from Haha you clowns, and Karlach from Baldurs Gate 3

SteamDeckSean

With the Steam Machine and Steam Frame delayed thanks to the ongoing RAM shortage, when do you actually expect them to launch—and at what price? Unless Valve plans to kick these into next year (or beyond), a short delay feels pointless. The AI boom didn’t just borrow RAM for the summer; it stuffed it into a dragon’s den, piled it on top of gold, and posted a “no consumers allowed” sign.

Andreas Jensen

You guys remember, when releases were different for regions? I remember the wait feeling endless just looking at videos online for Super Smash Bros Brawl here in Denmark, which I just checked was released: on January 31st 2008 in Japan, on March 9th in the US and then in Europe on June 27th...

Jason Wojnar

In honor of the Super Bowl halftime show, are there any other Spanish-language artists that deserve a shoutout? When it comes to modern music, it doesn’t get much better than Calle 13, also from Puerto Rico. By modern I mean they broke up about 12 years ago. When it comes to music my mother grew up listening to in Honduras , Los Angeles Negros from Chile are a unique rock band from the 70s (Y Volveré is the big hit). There’s a lot more I could list but I want to hear what your thoughts are.

Brett N

G'day Minnmaxers, what's the one that got away? You know that dream game that gets announced and looks amazing. Only to turn out to be vapourware or cancelled, Never to be heard of again?

Harry Branch

Do you have any photo mode go-tos? Certain camera angles you opt for, or filters that you use more often than the rest? Perhaps it's just me, but I feel like there are four filters I like overwhelmingly more than the rest in whatever game, and I have to make an active effort to finish the game with diverse screenshots rather than 100 similarly-colored or positioned photos.

Karl Ruben Weseth

When was the last time you played a new-to-you game that was more than 10 years old, and it made such an impression on you it became an all-time favourite?

Badmonsterman

Hey maxxers what is your dream Super Bowl party?

Nat

Hey Cohorts! In light of Valentine’s Day coming up, what are your favorite date night games? And for extra credit, how would you make a whole event out of it?

Sky Fellowship

Is GTA6 too big to succeed? I honestly feel it's going to release, earn a gajillion dollars, fail to meet expectations and then result in mass lay offs ultimately causing the next video game crash, cause when gajillions no long is enough money, what game will meet expectations if even GTA6 can't?

Alpaca chino

If life is indeed like a box of chocolate, what type of chocolate are the cohorts?

Christian F.

From a boricua to another, can we get some thoughts on Bad Bunny from Janet? Our boy had the best album of the year, a historic residency in Puerto Rico, and to cap that, the most viewed Super Bowl half time show ever. To see one of us become the biggest artist in the world with an album that not only is 100% in Spanish, but is hyper-local to our culture, music genres and slang, is an absolutely incredible feeling. I’m gonna go rewatch the half time show and cry for the seventh time now.
