Hey MinnMax crew! So my fiance recently got a new job where she will be working from home full time, and she is concerned about going stir crazy not leaving the house as much as she used too. Any advice on how to stay sane working from home? Thanks, love the new logo!

Camden Jones

Hey y'all, How and why do you continue caring about video games when things "in the real world" are dire? Writing about games every day is my job, but I've been having a really hard time focusing on my work lately, given current events. If it wasn’t my job, I’d probably just take a break, but I don’t have much of a choice but to try to force myself to care.

Fabled Ursa

Hey friends! What are your favorite regional fast food joints that are not available locally? I love me some Bojangles, but I haven’t had the pleasure of partaking in quite a few years. So long for now!

Charles Davis

Loving the new look guys! One game I don't hear anyone taking about but would love to hear more on is... Beyond Good & Evil 2! I absolutely loved BG&E and the space monkey program with insights into 2's development has been really interesting. It's combination of GTA like freedom with No Mans Sky-ish scale planetary exploration feels like the 1st real taste of what a next gen title could be like. I also think the world itself, that the director Michel Ancel has brought alive, is incredibly engrossing too. It's my most anticipated game and I particularly look forward to how they open out the story and IP. Anyway, would love to hear your thoughts & have a great day whatever you do!

Swedish pagan

Hey Minnmax crew, I have a simple game for you. 2 truths and a lie with your list of shame. Love the new logo keep up the great work.

Beau Bakken

Hey Pair of Arrows! Is there any Pokémon name you would ever remotely consider naming a child?

LaRay M. Hare

What’s up MinnMax (2 N’s)??? LaRay aka BluMayhem from the Discord here. It’s awesome to know that Matt Helgeson is joining MinnMax (2 N’s)!!! I listened to the GI Show from when it was in single digits, and every episode was like a conversation a dear friend. So much so, that when Matt came back to host the 400th episode it was like a reunion with someone I hadn’t seen in a long time. I wanted to ask Matt a question I never got answered when he was the host: Are there any funny stories from the early days of the GI show about fellow Editors? I’ve always wanted to know what those early days were like. Excited to have you back. ↘️↗️ -LaRay M. Hare

Hey team, I would feel extremely weird if I suddenly had to appear in front of thousands of strangers and broadcast my opinions on my work and what I enjoy. How did each of you adjust to becoming a “personality”, so to speak, being put in front of an audience on the GI Show and now for MinnMax? I think it would be so bizarre if my job started up a YouTube channel or similar and having to transition from completing a job in an office environment to being thrust into the limelight of the hot opinion world of podcasting. When starting out in the field, did you anticipate you’d have to become on an on screen persona or did it just kind of happen? Thanks! That new logo do be looking kinda sick tho 😳👀

RickyWinterborn

Is it weird that everyone (mostly the younger generation) loves following streamers/youtubers/podcasters daily? It’s like a one way friendship. Thousands of people listen to ya’ll talk a few times a week, and essentially hang out with you, but only you speak to us (aside from comments/discord etc.) and not the other way around. I personally think it’s a really cool development in society, but is it dangerous? Are kids who are growing up on this going to be “normal” socially? I think people get addicted to it because it’s like a safe social interaction, we just get to listen and be voyeurs and don’t have to worry about what we have to say in response, while still getting that dopamine hit from essentially hanging out with friends.

CalebMurray

Hey MinnMaxers with the advent of MinnTrax I was wondering if any of the computer loveing cohorts where metalheads and if so what you listening to recently? I've been listening to a lot of Pallbearer and Rivers of Nihil at work here recently. Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Hammer parsa

Hay minnisters. the topic of getting better we all know that surial has got into great shape by loosing a lot of weight , but he never got into the details . can he please tell us his secret . Thank you

Tony Stickel

Ben as next week approaches rapidly, and so does your trip to San Fransisco, I was wondering have you thought anymore about what you want to say on KFGD? I’m a huge fan of both communities and really excited to see you collaborate with the KF guys (hopefully Greg on KFGD). In my opinion he does a great job letting cohosts promote their stuff and get the word out. I know you’ll give the MinnMax (two N’s) the best promo ever. Can’t wait to hear you on the show. TO THE TOP!!!! PS: I wish you all could go out and be on the show. I really love what you all do at MinnMax, you make me laugh a lot at work.

Chris Lopez

Hey guys, Inverted camera controls or normal? Inverted should be normal right? If a game doesn’t have the option to switch it’s basically unplayable to me. Love the new logo! Chris

Mike Vogt

Choose one: A) Dynasty Warriors B) Earth Defense Force C) no thanks, I don’t like fun

Zachary P Gregg

Hey MinnMax Crew, Bad news: You are now forever to only wear an iconic outfit of a video game character. What outfit are you choosing? Suggestion for the whole group: Donkey Kong's outfit. Just the DK tie baby. Thanks, and great job with the relaunch and new merch! Zach

Joel

Hi MinnMax, greetings from Spain! What is a current videogame industry trend that you would like to see disappear? For me it has to be always-online games. No Capcom, I don't want to connect to the Internet to play Monster Hunter alone. Thank you and congrats on the relaunch!

BEEFCAKE

Hello all! I have a game I've been sitting on for weeks. I don’t know if it’ll be fun but here it goes Same Game, Wrong Name Below I’ve Listed popular games with the words changed to different word with the same meaning. I mostly used thesaurus.com to change the names. All titles have same amount of words as original title. You are welcome to use a thesaurus. Example: Dark souls could’ve been called bleak spirits. Due to the addition of my daughter, my PC has been packed away in a closet for nearly two years. The other day I got to thinking what I would need to upgrade if it were an entire other year before I was able to set it up again. With the speed at which new tech specifically applied to PCs is advancing, how long would you give yourself between upgrades in your PC, and additionally, how long would that be cost-effective in relation to upgrading to a new console?

Crayter

Hey relaunched CLC's! I'm in wisonsin dells with the kids for spring break. Lots of indoor waterparks and its alot cheaper in the winter. Also only about a 4 hour drive for us from the twin cities. Just wondering what local vacation destinations you guys have to try and pretend like Minnesota winters arent soul crushing? Love the new logo and merch by the way! Had to get myself an anthropomorphic amphibian hero shirt!

Christopher Reardon

Hey Ben and cohorts, What other remake of a game could get you so hyped as to have a month long celebration of said game prior to the remake's release?

Grizzled Gaming

Hey Ben & cohorts! We had a bad roof leak at work a couple of weeks ago. And I had to rig up something to keep water from collecting in the bottom of an electrical box. So with only a Styrofoam cup, a straw, a glass tile, and two brick tiles I was able to successfully “redneck engineer” a solution. So all that said, when is one time you had to get creative with a solution to a problem. Or better said, what was your best McGuyver moment? If you’re interested in seeing my handiwork, there’s a picture at the link below. https://twitter.com/Grizzled_Gaming/status/1237478325364424704

Sincerly, Eric

Oh shit. Forgot to mention and haven't seen it said by major publications. The Inventor of the Konami Code passed on Feb 25th. Can we have a moment of silence for some one who is responsible for giving us 30 needed lives in Contra among giving Gamers the first "heard from a friend of a friend" video game secret?

RickyWinterborn

Jason Schrier really doesn’t like that FF7 Remake ends at the Midgar escape. Do ya’ll agree? I dont really mind that its just midgar, it seems too crazy to remaster the entire world with ps4 graphics in one go, not to mention this is squeenix.

Super_DAC

Hello MinnMax. Recently I heard about the 95 year old woman who was given a Gameboy from Nintendo, and it got me thinking about the consoles I’ve had that have broken. Outside of knocking down and breaking my older brother’s brand new PS2 as a toddler I haven’t broken very many consoles. Have any of you? If so, how?

Jesse Jones

Hey Computers and the Cohort-Loving-Bens! The weather has finally begun to turn here in Kelowna, British Columbia and it is giving me some serious spring fever! What are your favourite spring/summertime activities? Personally, I love to camp, hike, fish, and bike once it begins to get warmer. Thanks and congrats on the relaunch, everything looks great! (PS, you guys were talking about Spikeball during the "Sonic enemy or as seen on TV product" game last week, and if you don't know what it is, you should really check it out! It's another great nice weather activity. Here's a link to some high-level play: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4Dc0wWnXtY)

RickyWinterborn

The new logo looks kinda like the motion input in fighting games. Can we get some HADOKEN merch?

j03n1nj4

Hola MinnMax Crew! I recently started playing Quantum Break. So far I'm really enjoying it, the story is fun and interesting. Which brings me to my problem. The collectibles, specifically the Chronon Sources hidden around, that are necessary to upgrade your powers. I hate having to take the time to find them, they take away from the experience of the game so much and I feel like they just interrupt the flow of the game of the story. I've taken to having a walkthrough open so I can just grab them and move on. I think the game would be much better if they weren't there it were maybe just on the main path and obvious you you don't have to hunt them down. I really feel like collectibles are often a disservice especially to heavy story focused games. Other games, however, like crackdown, I loved running around getting all the collectibles. What do you guys think about collectibles in games? What games do you like having collectibles in and what games do you hate them in? Joey from Sutter, CA

Paul Arias

Hey MinnMaxers; GameStop Appoints Reginald Fils-Aimé, William Simon and James Symancyk to Board of Directors and Enhances Corporate Governance to Drive Ongoing Business Transformation! Does this new lineup mean Gamestop could be making a big comeback in your opinion? And what changes would you like to see? Thanks for putting on a great show each week. Love the content. Paul (The Batman info guy from the GI Podcast) WA

FlaminQueso

Hey Hanson, the CLC’s and Helgeson, Congrats on the new logo! It looks great! I think it does a great job of visualizing the “getting better” aspect of MinnMax. Despite things knocking us down, we always try to get back up again. On an unrelated note, Can we expect a full review of Chumbawamba’s hit song Tubthumping on the new show MinnTrax? Thanks, Queso

Christian Giannelli

Hi everyone! This is my first time writing in to the MinnMax show and I am loving all the new content. Sorry if I am late to the game but you can file this under the strange coincidence category. It was December 2013 and my wife and I were living in Philadelphia at the time. That year we were heavily into Top Chef and just finished watching the most recent episode which was based in New Orleans that season. Our favorite chef that year, Travis Masar (thanks internet!), had just been eliminated and we were pretty bummed about it. So it’s 4:00pm, we are hungry and we decide to go out to a place in downtown Philly called Sampan. The cool thing about this restaurant is that they have a bar that is around a big open kitchen so you can watch the staff make your food while you get drinks, it’s good stuff. Anyway, we just sit down at the bar with our drinks when something completely insane happens. Entering into the open kitchen is none other than…Travis Masar??! The guy we just watched get eliminated from Top Chef?! Not only that but he is helping prepare our food! It may not be the most exciting story but it was seriously the strangest thing that has ever happened to me. Happy to have all of you back and you’re doing great work with the show!

Byron Black

Team MinnMax, I require your wit and Final Fantasy VII knowledge. What would be some good foods for a FFVII launch celebration? Bonus points for puns (Barr-ito anyone?). Keep up the great work! -Byron, formerly of Minnesota.

Shakenbake67

Hey MinnMaxers, love the new logo and redesign! With the celebration of all things FFVII upon us I have one question, is there any chance their would be BIG changes in the upcoming remake. Obviously spoilers below but I think Aerith might not die in the remake and someone else might. I think that would drive the fandom bonkers and truly set the remake apart. What do you guys think? L

Josh LaBaw

Hello MinnMaxers, The new logo and relaunch look to have went well. Let’s talk about a time things went sideways. Let’s not talk the sudden changes at GI impacting career goals. What about times where emergency surgery delayed Christmas, pink eye kept you from riding the Monorail at the MN Zoo in second grade & now 25+ years later its gone forever and you missed your chance! You know, that rain on parade day that makes you appreciate the sunny day parade that much more.

OddJackBourne

Hi MinnMaxers, So my question stems from my realization that, during my first playthrough, I'm not finding Breath of the Wild's overall plot or side-quest-related stories all that engaging (reasons include: plot beats can be spaced out too far apart, not enough time spent with major characters, side quests are pretty simple) So it got me thinking: which Nintendo-developed game has the best story or stories? (And I'm not talking emergent narrative stories) My vote would be for Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, because it has both a great main plot and a lot of interesting, smaller stories you take part in while interacting with the various denizens of Termina. - OddJack

Ryan Pretz

Hello Em and Em (I got nuttin), Anywho my question for you all is 'Have you ever had a negative or skewed opinion of something seemingly globally beloved due to an odd circumstances around your introduction to it?' My example is when I first Watch Monty Python and the Holy Grail. My friends and I watched it off a crappy bootlegged recorded VHS in the early 90s, at the end when [spoiler] the police show up and arrest King Arthur and his people and then fade to black. My friends and I sat there waiting for the movie to continue, after waiting an embarrassing amount of time we finally decided that the VHS copy was bad and maybe one day we'll see the end. Years later when watching an official rented copy I saw that what I watched before was infact the real ending, and I soon realized the initial brilliance of that ending.

Mark Garcia

Hey Ben and the newly refreshed MM crew, With the update to the site and Ben’s journey down the rabbit hole of picking the design for the new logo that matched your vision, I wanted to ask: what do you personally feel is the most iconic, or just your favorite, logo in the video game industry? It can be for a studio, a console, or even just a game. I personally really loved the N64’s logo and the original PlayStation’s multi-colored PS logo.

Glamrock Scientist

Good Morning Minn-Pinns, Love the podcast, and am very excited for the return of the soothing, dulcet tones of Matt Helgeson. My question would be, what was an album that absolutely blew you away the first time you heard it? I have albums that i like better, but two that come to mind are "The Idiot" (Iggy Pop's prelude to Bowie's Berlin Trilogy" and "The Woods" (The Sleater Kinney album that killed the band for 10 years). Both these albums changed the way I felt about the respective artists, and were very influential on a personal level. If you don’t have an album, a specific song will do. I elect “"Let’s Call it Love/Night Light" a 15 fuzzed out, garage rock treatise on the duality of love (sort of). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9aR7Tyzibchttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9aR7Tyzibc Also, I was a bit disappointed that the poor Atari 2600 didn't get drafted last week. Keep up the good pods!

betoq92 .

Hey Benny and the Compy lovers, With game sizes getting out of hand I found myself having to delete some games to make room Call of Duty. It was difficult deleting games I haven’t played yet because in my head if I do I’ll NEVER play them again. Anyway whats the oldest game on your hard drives you can never bring yourself to remove? Keep up the good work! Also my game is Knack

Fred Dinovo

Howdy, What do you think is going to be the keyword phrase used in the build up to next gen whenever these boxes finally get announced? In 2013 it was "1080p 60 FPS" can't count the number of times that phrase was used. Now are they going to be talking 4K60? Or is it going to be (tera)flop talk? Place your bets!

Travis McGaughey

Hi Ben and the CLC's, As a huge fan of building out worlds and lore, I love the idea of what Square did with FFVII anthology. What game would you like to see have its world, lore, and characters explored more deeply in different forms of media?

It's Hugo's Nook

Hey Benny and the CLCs, Am I the only one that thinks it's weird that, on videogames, you need to keep jumping and moving to get out of quicksand? If someone's first contact with quicksand is through a platformer and then they find themselves on one in real life, that poor chap is doomed if he tries to do what Mario does in order to get out of it. Is there any other very misleading things that videogames teach someone that could get you in a pickle if applied in real life?

Brenton and Meriam

Hey M&Ms, I have a game for you! You’ll be hearing the some of the Youtube comments from a teaser or reveal trailer, and guessing which game it’s from. I’ll include four comments, in order from least to most obvious. You’ll also get the year the VIDEO was posted. Keep in mind that the comments may not all be from the year video came out! If you feel like keeping score, you can assign points based on how early one of you guesses. Four points for guessing on the first comment, three for the second, and so on. Hope you enjoy! (2014) 4. Shotgun pump and door opening sound = instant nostalgia. 3. Enough bf and cod. Back to old school. 2. The most important question is: Will the BFG9000 make it into this version? 1. R I P A N D T E A R Doom 2016. Teaser showing of the Cyberdemon, ending with a reveal date at quakecon. (2012) 4. Whenever blank uses that see-through-walls move it sounds like he's saying "Haggen-daz". 3. One of the few games where the game is just as good as the trailer :) 2. Trailer advertises blank killing people left and right, but to get the good ending in the game you have to kill the least amount of people possible 1. I wonder if THIEF was an influence on this game? Dishonored. It was that classic trailer where Corvo is running around on rooftops, mostly in first person, and showcasing all of his powers. Notable for most of the things shown in the trailer being doable in game. (2014) 4. I think gta 6 gonna release before this game 3. He might be like " i got bitten but who cares lets just exercise as always hell yeah" 2. Shooting location: ocean drive from vice city 1.Turns into a zombie, still continues his jogging as one. Now that's dedication. Dead Island 2. It’s the trailer where that guy is jogging along with earbuds as the world falls apart behind him. Also, he had bicep implants. (2016) 4. After playing the game, I feel like blank could be making academy award worthy movies 3. I remember when I first saw this trailer. I didn´t understand a single thing. Fortunately, now, 3 years later, I understand close to nothing. 2. As long as this game makes tons of money, gets great reviews, and has Konami crying in the car, I'll support this regardless of how weird it looks lol. 1. SONG: Low Roar - I'll Keep Coming Death Stranding. That initial trailer where Norman Reedus wakes up on the beach next to BB, and cries while he cradles him. (2015) 4. Be wary of death. 3. I can't wait to kill that thing by dodge rolling and slashing its back for 2 hours. And I'm not even being sarcastic. 2. when i grow up i wanna be that giant at the end :D 1. Praise The Sun! Dark Souls 3. Reveal trailer that showed off some familiar locations, and Yhorm the Giant.

Donnie

Hey crew! So I never had any interest in trying the FFVII remake until I watched your stream of the demo. Ben, you were so excited for it and I haven’t felt that way for an upcoming game in a long time so it encouraged me to play it too. The combat is fun, the music is awesome and Cloud’s hair is not distracting. What games have you gotten into cause of someone else’s enthusiasm for it?

umryan

Hello Matt and the CLCs! I'm very excited for the new music-centered MinnTrax podcast. In anticipation, can you think of any albums from your pre-high school teen years that don't make you scoff, and that you still enjoy today? For me it would have to be Deftones' "White Pony", and Tricky's "Maxinquaye". Bonus points if these albums land outside your parents' influence and potentially inherited taste. Thanks! Love the show, keep up the great work. -Ryan from Portland, OR

Guy Incognito

Would you rather... have your legs turned into glazed hams or your legs into Jon Hamm heads? For clarification, the hams are covered in a pineapple glaze. As for the Hamm heads, one leg is Hamm doing Larry David and the other leg is Dick Whitman, NOT Don Draper.

TurtleMilk

Hey Ben, Matt and the muppets What UI elements would be helpful in every day life? It would also be nice to have names displayed over the heads of people you *should* know the names of (i.e. distant relatives, etc)...

Carl Grenier

Hello, hello! A bit late on the question, but hey I'll still write something! My question relates directly to my current situation. Basically, Sunday at work, I became suddenly sick, got diagnosed with Vestibular Neuritis. Basically I'm fine, but I can't walk straight for now and moving generally makes me feel sick so staying in one place in a good idea. So now I'm stuck home for a minimum of one week without being able to work on doctor's order. (Oh btw, I'm from Quebec so I'm not in crippling debts because of this). So yeah I have a lot of free time suddenly and I was wondering about a classic question: What are the games you would recommend or generally play yourself when you're sick, unable to do much of anything for a while?

Chris Gillar

Hey CLCs, What is the best or your favorite “jump” in gaming. (To clarify, I’m literally asking about the leaping action not hardware improvements.)

Tamrial Beleren

Hey guys. I know it's a bit late but I had 2 coincidences in mind when you talked about it on the show. They're nothing to crazy but here they are. I was playing Stardew Valley with a friend online. She was telling me about work while I was in character creation for our new farm. I was deciding on a name and i asked her what the name of the coworker she was talking about. As i was typing the name "Tammy" she said the name at the same time. Another time i sent my friend a song i thought he might like. He told me he was listening to pandora and googled the song that was playing. it was the same song i sent him. Thanks for the show. Can't wait for the next episode!

Potato-smash7

What's up MM crew. What was the coolest or weirdest mod you've downloaded for a game? I'm getting my first gaming PC tomorrow and can't wait to check out some mods for elder scrolls games. Thanks, Bill-Detroit Michigan
