Hi there, Ben and friends! In the last episode you talked a bit about why in the world Persona 5 wouldn't come to Switch. I'm curious if there are other exclusive games you'd love to play on a different platform? Some examples that come to mind… - I have a soft spot for Visual Concepts' weirder Dreamcast output: Ooga Booga and Floigan Bros. To my knowledge, both remain Dreamcast exclusives. - The Sonic Advance games are well-regarded, especially in comparison to their console counterparts. I'd play the heck out of a compilation of these on my Switch. - I'd love to play a port of Super Mario 64 DS retaining its improved graphics and bonus content but with support for analog controls.

What are some of your favorite opening cinematics? And do you prefer the type that automatically play every time you start the game, like Shadow of the Colossus, or ones that only play at the start of a new game like the Final Fantasy 7 remake? Personally, I like the option to watch the intro every time I boot up the game. It helps me get in the mood. Thanks for the great show!

Salutations Solitary Squadmates! Question for both MinnMax and the Triple Click folks - what type of progression system do you find most satisfying in your games? Is it a game where you start out with virtual omnipotence, such as in God of War, Saints Row 4, or the Batman Arkham series, and just get better at obliterating the opposition? Or is it a game where you overcome initial helplessness to become an overpowered monster, such as in Elder Scrolls games or Far Cry 4? Maybe it's a game where your relative weakness never truly goes away, such as in Outward, Dead Space, or Kingdom Come: Deliverance? Did I miss a category? Thanks for your thoughts!

Hey CLCs, Playing FF7 remake has really opened my eyes to how older games with old mechanics could be revived and not feel like a remaster. As there are already rumors for this, I think the KOTOR games could be remade in almost the same way FF7 has (change or update the combat, story, graphics, and other game mechanics which may not have aged well). Have you guys thought about any older games you love that could benefit from receiving a complete makeover just like FF7? Thanks, Dan from Fitchburg, MA

Nick from Atlanta

Hello Cohorts! Here's a quick one for you. All things equal, what's your game suggestion for people that don't play video games? Thanks, Nick from Atlanta

PhillyYeetSteak

Hello hanson and Triple click! In your opinions, what has been the absolute highlight of the music/rhythm game genre? For me, it is hard to beat Amplitude on PS2 Thanks and good luck on your new platform! Phil S, Reigning Photomode Snap champ for Hellblade 👑

Hey the Cohorts Loving Computers, Can you explain to me why Sephiroth is such a beloved villain in both the Final Fantasy universe and gaming in general? I played FF7 when it came out originally and this always confused me. He has a badass sword and a great song, but outside of that no real motive or anything I connected to. Without going into spoiler territory for the original game there are other reasons as to why to not like him for the major action he does at the end of disc 1, but I've never understood outside of that what makes him so captivating as a villain. FF has a history of some very strong villains, Kefka in FFVI being one of the all-time best, but Sephiroth has always escaped me as being such a captivating villain across the video game landscape. What it is about Sephiroth that has made him stand out among so many villains in a series that is known for some great ones? Who are some of your other all-time favorite video game villains and why? Any villains you think left a strong impression but no one talks about? Keep up the great work and I look forward to every new episode! Daniel from Roseville, CA.

Bonjour Ben and Triple Click. During the quarantine times, I decided to get Xbox Gamepass for PC. During this week I fell in love with platformers again thanks to Guacamelee 2. This game has a hilarious ‘easter egg’ with its ‘dankest timeline’ (a whole part of the game dedicated to memes in the style of Guacamelee). My question is: What is the best easter egg in your opinion?

Hi everybody! I finally remembered to submit a question on time!! What I wanted to ask is what your guys' thoughts are on the games already out and those currently set to be published by Xbox game studios this year. For context, the confirmed list so far is as follows: Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Bleeding Edge, Gears Tactics, Minecraft Dungeons, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Tell Me Why (the DontNod game everyone always forgets about), Wasteland Remastered, Psychonauts 2, Halo Infinite, and probably Forza Motorsport 8. That has to be one of the most bizarre and diverse lineups ever from a publisher, right? Like, they've got a dungeon crawler, multiple(!) turn-based strategy games, a racing game, a triple-A FPS, a 2D platformer, a 3D platformer, whatever Bleeding Edge is/was, a flight simulator, and even an adventure game featuring trans representation! I don't know how many of these games will be good, but do you think that Xbox deserves more credit just for the wild collection of games they're putting out this year? Can you think of an example of a time another publisher put out such a wide array of games from so many genres? Thanks!

Justin Ray

Hello people of Minnmax. I know Ben is friends with the guys over at Easy Allies and since this is Kyle Bosman's last week I wanted know if you have any good stories or memories of him. Bonus points if you deliver this as a eulogy.

Kyle Osborne

Hello Minnmaxer's. So with everything that's been going on I've had a lot of time to talk with friends and share stories. I've heard a lot of your guy's video game related stories but I want to know your best non video game related story you have to tell .

Neil Brown

Howdy fellas, continuing off the best looking grass question, what's the best water in a video game? I'd either have to say uncharted 4 or wind waker ( while not the best looking, I think it's still one of the best.) Cheers!

AnotherRobot

It was May 2013, and Don Mattrick unveiled Xbox One to the world. Leading up to the event, rumors and questions regarding DRM, used games, and the idea of ownership swirled around the Internet. Following the reveal, the truth began to come out, and the full rage of the Internet was engaged. I was outraged. It felt like a betrayal from a brand I had ostensibly chosen over PlayStation. They decided to screw all gamers with a ridiculous DRM scheme, restrictions on used games and loans, and require players to download all games, even physical purchases. The audacity! Five months later, with Pokemon X, I went all-digital. This decision meant I fundamentally agreed with the trail Microsoft was blazing with Xbox One. It was the future, so rather than fight it, I embraced it. And for me, it was a great decision. So I'd like to know from all of you, tell me about a time when you made a complete 180 over something. Big or small.

One thing I think about often is the "Bartle Player Types" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bartle_taxonomy_of_player_types) which categorizes gamers in four categories: Achiever, Explorer, Socializer, and Killer. It's interesting to consider when choosing games. I am a strong "Explorer" type and by finding games with a strong exploration aspect has served me very well. I love games such as Outer Wilds, AC Odyssey, Breath of the Wild, Hollow Knight, etc. What types apply to you?

Mike Vogt

Hello MinnMax and guests! Which classic mini console are you?

Fred Dinovo

Howdy all, In a game with elevators that can open multiple directions which way do you face after you activate the lift? I always tend to face away from the door I entered from and almost always that's still the door that opens, until the one time I don't turn around. Congrats on the new venture Triple Click! Thanks!

TL

Hey MinnMax and guests (congrats on the new gig btw Jason!!)! Not a super deep question - but came across an old DS cartridge this week for Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure. Fired it up to find that it was developed by EA Tiburon. Henry Hatsworth is a puzzler/platformer for the DS - made by the Madden guys? Isn't that wild? So, can you guys think of any other games like this one (games that were made by a studio that is usually focused on a different type of game or franchise)?

Justin Hughes

Hey everyone! Jason, I'm a big fan of your work on the labor problems in the video game industry. I think too many people get caught up in the aspect of "just give me more good games" and don't see the other side of it where people are working extremely hard to make the games along with having families and lives outside of work. So my question. Why isn't there an industry wide union for game developers like there is for the film industry? And how far away are we from one? Thanks for all you do.

wittynicknamehere .

Hello, Hanson and the Electronics-Adoring Acolytes. It's the most common nonviolent action in gaming, but it's so far removed from most of our realities that I have to ask; how long has it been since any of you actually jumped, in real life?

Eric Seal

How long have you had your current favorite game as your favorite, and at what point did you decide it was your favorite? Was it over the course of a second playthrough or at some pivotal story moment?

FlaminQueso

Hey Howdy Hey Hanson and the 'horts, What is the weirdest thing you have found yourself doing in this time of self quarantine? If not weird, what is something you have been doing that is very unlike your normal everyday self? For me, its running 4 times a week and growing out a beard. Two things I haven't done since college and its very strange, but also enjoyable! Thanks, Queso

Geoff Enright

Hey, thanks for all the great content you make! And JackBox party packs are great during this time of quarantining!

GreenMountainState

Hey MinnMax Panel, A friendly non Earth being shows up and has never played a video game before. What is the first video game you have them play and why? Thanks, Doug

Dennis M.

Hi Ben and the McNamaras! Why is there no Wii Sports game on the Nintendo Switch? Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort sold incredibly well, so there must be a demand, right? I know the first one was bundled with the console, so the sales figures are a bit skewed, but there is still a huge audience out there who loved to play it back then; many even grew up with it. Am I wrong in thinking that a port or a sequel for the Switch would be easy money for Nintendo? Are the Joy-Cons not precise enough? Am I overestimating the demand? What's the deal here? I just want to play golf again.

PseudonymousJoe

Hey, just a quick correction from last week: when answering the question "What video game has the best grass?" you guys forgot to say Resident Evil, for the green herbs, and then chuckle like middle schoolers. It's an honest mistake. Keep up the good work.

KillTehMessenger

What’s up gamers? My question is simple: if you could rename any genre, what would you change it to and why? If that’s not good enough of a question, what about this one: if you could rename any game, what would it be and why?

Juan Cabrera

A'lo A'lo Minnmax, No specific question, just wanted to say love your work, your content library is getting me through the quarantine. xoxo

Anthony Bazz

What is the best place to invest in Real Estate and why is it Northwest Arkansas?

CalebMurray

Hello again CLCs I hope y'alls week is going well. This question is for Hanson. Now that you're playing the FF7R do you think it will open the door for you to enjoy more 3rd person stylish action games?

Joe Garcia

How's it going CLCs. Recently my girlfriend has gotten into Bloodborne ( about half way through) with no prior gaming experience. This completely took me by surprise and got me to thinking if any if you guys have had a similar experience. Love the show, first time writing in!

Crayter

The save icon in almost every computer program out there is the image of a 3.5" disk, which has been obsolete for decades, yet the image perists. This isn't true in video games since the save/saving icons varying with near every game. Are there any universal "this means the same thing" symbol in games you can think of? Or should there be? Maybe even like with the floppy drive, its origin is obsolete?

defteats

In case I was late on the FF7 Remake deepest dive with my question before you recorded. I had a limit break cancelled during a boss fight by a cutscene. I cast it from the tactical menu, but a cutscene popped up mid battle and I lost the limit bar without it popping. Anybody have that problem? I know casting spells can be stopped if your character is hit, but that's not what happened.

James Smith

Hello Mercedes-Benz Hanson and the Splitscreen Loving Cohorts (we can workshop it), Are there any games you think deserve more attention and would like to shine a spotlight on? I was pleased to see Bright Memory on last week's show after trying to get people to try it out for so long! Thanks, have a good one!

Nognaught

Howdy Hanson & the triple click crew. What's you're biggest gaming pet peeve and why is it the screen that shows what the games loading icon looks like so you think the game is loading but it's actually just an information tab that you have to okay out of?

Yarrow

Hey friends of the show! What is your favorite joy in gaming? Mine would be Finishing a challenging raid in an MMO with my guild mates!

Jeeo Banogy

Well well well Mr. Hanson, Maxing out on the guests I see! Hope everyone has a good time on the podcast, and good luck to the Triple Click cast! But anyways, I just watched Episode 4 of the Pokemon mini-series, Pokemon: Twilight Wings, and it gave me a super strong urge to play Pokemon Sword again! What are the kinds of things that get you into the mood to play a certain game? Is it typically a piece of extended lore or maybe its being reminded of a killer song on the soundtrack? Good luck, and stay safe!

Jaap van Muijden

Hi party people, my question for the table is: There are many games and video game series released only in Japan that have found their niche in the US through fan translations in a community has become almost a gaming stereotype . This doesn’t seem to have happened for European games that for some reason were never released in US. What are some of the hidden “Euro Gems” that you guys know of? As a European, one followup question: mega hits like Little Big Adventure 2 are weirdly unpopular in the US...why?

Hayden Hodge

Hey! First time writing in! Sometimes music can describe a mixture of emotions better than words can. For me, some games also evoke emotional states that just aren't easy to pin down. For example, if something is a mixture of spooky, campy, creepy, charming, and somehow cozy, its just a little bit "Resident Evil" right? Or why can't I say I'm feeling a little bit "Nier: Automata" today and just have everyone understand??? What are some games that just hit you in a way that is difficult to describe? Try your best to describe it!

UmamiUnagi

Has a video game ever inspired you to improve yourself or take up a new passion IRL? This could be discovering your love of cooking (or bitcoin mining) from Cooking Mama, starting your own farm after playing Stardew Valley or getting really into reading existentialist philosophy from your time with Beyond Good and Evil.

Thwip

Hey CLCs, During the FF7 Deepest Dive it was mentioned that the game took some inspiration from FFXIII's battle system and it got me wondering, should I go back and play FFXIII? I played a few hours of it years ago and just lost interest in it, but I still have my PS3 hooked up and a copy of the game. Did any of you ever finish it and is it worth playing?

Xavier Perez

Hey MinnMax and Triple Click, did you all see the news about that investment bank building a large stake in Nintendo? Apparently they want to try and get Nintendo to diversify its entertainment offerings including possibly doing things outside of games. What does that mean for the future of the company? If Nintendo were to do something radically different, what would you want them to do?

CP Severence

Hey MinnMax crew. Here’s a fun exercise. Below I have the best selling games for each console according to Wikipedia. I believe some of these include pack-in games like Wii Sports and there are some exclusions like the Dreamcast which I couldn’t find on Wikipedia. There’s probably too many to rank them all so just pick the top 5. Love the show. Keep up the great work. NES-Super Mario Bros-40 mil Sega Genesis-Sonic-15 mil SNES-Super Mario World-20.6 mil PSOne-Gran Turismo-10.8 mil N64-Mario 64-11.9 mil PS2-GTA San Andreas-17.3 mil GameCube- Smash Bros Melee-7.1 mil Xbox-Halo 2-8.5 mil Xbox 360-Kinect Adventures-24 mil PS3-GTA IV-25 mil Wii-Wii Sports-82.8 mil PS4-Uncharted 4-16 mil Xbox One-Halo 5-5 mil Switch-Mario Kart 8 Deluxe-22.9 mil

After starting up Royal, something just hit me for the first time 3 years after playing Persona 5: The protagonist might have some of the worst parents in gaming. The dude lightly touched the shoulder of a politician sexually assaulting a woman in his neighborhood, and he gets sued and a criminal record. Do his parents stick up for him? NO! They agree with the courts that they should send him away to stay with some stranger, who phrases this as "In other words, they got rid of you for being a pain in the ass." They don't even call or text once over the course of a year. Are there worse parents in gaming? I think even Kratos is better.

Sam Morrow

Hello Ben and friends. Recently there have been a plethora of fantastic Remakes including Resident Evil 2 and 3, Final Fantasy VII, Shadow of the Colossus and many more. Let's flip the script for 2021 and go the opposite way. What game would you most like to see a De-make of? Specifically in the retro style of an 8 or 16 bit game?

Sincerly, Eric

More of a shared thought then a Question that might lead to a question. Pixar has got to be the most consistent movie studio, right? Granted they have thier duds, but overall it is hit after hit. Is there a Video Game equivalent of this? And I don't mean the Studios that make Assasins Creed or Call of Duty yearly. Would it be David Cages Studio? Maybe the Ico team (the people that made Shadow of the Colossus, that's there name right?) What's the most consistent Studio that had a unique IP each time?

DAVID C

Hi Minnmax Crew

DAVID C

Hi Minnmax Crew. Is there a reason Sony or Microsoft can't realese 2 controller's at the launch of the new systems. One with off set sticks and one symmetrical?

Thom Blackburn

Hi minnmax and the minnmax crew, Simple question: what game has made the best use of an Unreliable Narrator? I can only think of Call of Juarez: Gunslinger and the King's Quest reboot as examples Thanks, Thom

AnAttackCorgi

Hey yall! If you could make anything with any object (except money), what would that be?
