Hey Howdy Hey Hanson and the ‘horts, When you get stuck at a part in a video game, do you enjoy looking up help on the internet, or does this frustrate you? For me, I REALLY don’t like it when I have to look up any kind of help on the internet. I feel like the game should give me all the tools I need to solve it within the game itself. At the same time, I do enjoy getting help from friends. This feels better. How do you feel about it? Do you enjoy using a wiki or strategy guide while playing a game? Do you enjoy getting help from friends? Or do you wallow in frustration and quit a game you can’t beat? Thanks, Greg “FlaminQueso”

Chris Logan

Hello Ben and the 'horts, this one is for Kyle specifically: every time my wife is in the car when the podcast is on and someone says your name, she repeats it with a Cartman style "KYYYLE!" Is this a common occurrence in your life?

Brenton and Meriam

Hey All, Why haven’t we gotten rid of comment sections? I can see how a comparatively smaller channel like Minnmax would find them helpful in getting suggestions or gauging reception. I don’t see what is gained from larger news outlets having them. They seem to do more bad than good, especially on the sites with more toxic communities. That being said, I’m an aggressively antisocial person so I’d love to hear what you outgoing people think. What would the ramifications be if a company like IGN removed their comment section tomorrow? Warm wishes from God’s Country, New Hampshire.

Hey guys, The very first game I got for the PlayStation 3 was Assassin's Creed. A few weeks ago, I finally beat it. I'd started it a few times and fell off of it for various reasons but I loved what I had seen of it. Until I finally sat down play it for real. I thought the story was decent but the controls and repetitive gameplay were just too much to get over. Luckily, I thought, I could just download the PS4 version of the game and all those problems would be taken care of. Imagine my surprise when I discovered there was no PS4 version! So my question is, with the release of new consoles imminent, what game do you think would benefit the most from a new remaster/remake? P.S. You don't have to read this part out loud but...IF by some miracle you choose mine for question of the week and IF by some other miracle you have a choice between two or more records and IF by some other other miracle one of them is the Katamari Damacy soundtrack, can I please please please have that one? Either that or the Kentucky Route Zero soundtrack but definitely Katamari first. It's the best video game soundtrack of all time.

Sincerly, Eric

Its Spooky Season again Boys and Girls. What are some of your favorite Halloween Memories? Also, any recommendations for lesser known movies to watch or games to play for this time of the year? Thank you all for another great Episode as I am sure it will be. Sarah is sus.

If you were given a voucher to get a free full-on Yakuza style back tattoo (and done by a masterclass artist, ala Kiryu Kazuma and Goro Majima), what animal, object, spiritual deity, mythical beast, household appliance, etc. would you get done, and why? Also, hypothetical scenario aside, do you think you would actually do it?

James Pinto

Hello all, For some ungodly reason I was thinking about Giant Bomb and how Vinny is Ben Kenobi and then I realized that Jeff is Vader. I was hoping that you all could match the rest of their team to characters from Star Wars, original trilogy if you fancy. OK BYE!

Nick from Atlanta

Hello MinnMax! What game do you think is best for reaction gifs (hard G people are correct)? I'm not talking about gifs where they maybe take an in game character and rig it to recreate an existing one, I'm talking straight from the game itself. Also, what's your favorite gif from a video game? Thanks, Nick from Atlanta

Donnie

Hey friends! What’s your favorite hobby that doesn’t require digital media? Lately for me it’s been reading before going to bed, as well as writing my own book! Thanks!

So with all the power of the new consoles coming, is it time for the FMV revolution? The 3DO but it was out far to early. Every was just getting ready to accept polygons at the time. But now nearly 25 years later, I think everyone is ready. It's got to be the reason we haven't seen any next gen exclusives yet, they're just finishing the filming for the games, right? All kidding aside, what's the computer loving cohorts thoughts on FMV games? And who's ready for the reworked Halo Infinite to be a FMV game?

Hunter Sax

Hey hi hello, Feel good question of the week. Many years ago my 65 year old grandfather started playing video games, in order to spend more time with me. He became more core audience than I did. 100% completion of GTA San Andreas and ES Oblivion and many others. This last winter me and my partner got a switch. She hadn't really played games before, she is now farther in Hades than I am, beat BOTW before I could, and now shows and recommends games to me. Are they're any people in your lives that you thought wouldn't be into games and end up surprising you?

Daniel Dwiggins

Hey everyone! I'll keep it simple: what is the weirdest/craziest glitch you've seen in a game?

Faraaz

Hi Minnmaxx Team! Hanson, you care a lot about the flow of your podcasts; what was going through your mind when Leo was hosting the GI show in your absence and done the “back of the disk game”? What made Leo do that? P.S During the era of when you used to send out gifts on the GI show every week for email of the week., You could not deliver gifts outside of North America. However, Suriel was hosting this one time and the group voted for an email from Australia. Did that person ever get a gift? Kind regards Faz from Sydney

Justin Hughes

Hey everyone. What is the most useless fact you know? Mine is the longest word you can spell with just one hand on a keyboard is "stewardesses". Try to beat that.

Tadatoo

Simple question with a twist, what’s you favorite spin off game that is not a nintendo game. Mine is rock band blitz!

T1M3C0P

Hey Ben and the chords. Do you think the people in Mushroom Kingdom eats Yoshis? How would you cook one if you could? Keep up the good work.

IanTClark

I live in a 118 year old house. None of the interior doors have working locks, not even the bathrooms. Whenever we have quests - which was was frequent pre-COVID-19 - we awkwardly warn them of this fact when they ask to use the restroom. Also, there is a ghost named Molly that lives upstairs. What is something weird or unusual about your place of residence?

Beau Bakken

Is Watch Dogs Legion "grand theft people"? What are the odds those three words have ever been on a white board in a Ubisoft development room?

Ramon Gutierrez

Long time listener first time caller! With Animal’s crossing fall update last week and Destiny 2’s festival of the lost starting today what are some of the cohort’s favorite Holiday events in video games?

Jeeo Banogy

Hey Ho! So I was pretty excited to grab Baldur's Gate 3 on early access, but phew is that required file size a doozey! Hearing that the game is now requiring 80GB of Hard Drive space on my PC was a bit of a heart-stopper, but, upon buying the early access and starting the installation, I can see that it actually takes up a bit less than 60GB. Regardless, I had to sacrifice a couple games from my drives. If you guys had to do the same, what games would be on the chopping block for you? Thanks!

Faraaz

Hi Horts I really miss the random screaming and so does that one Board member from Gamestop Please scream Kind regards Deep cutter

tbeeks15

Hey cohorts! Ben, when someone swears outside of a podcast you’re producing, do you reflexively want to write down a timestamp? Other cohorts, do you guys have any habits from podcasting in Zoom that have transferred into the real-life interactions you’ve had since lockdown? Keep on cohortin’! Love & Respect! -Beeks from Grand Rapids, MI

Thomas

When is the relationship advice podcast coming (not love line but basically love line)

MLA

Greetings Minnmaxers, As the list of games with upgrade paths to next gen consoles grows, would you recommend simply waiting until new consoles arrive to play these games? I'm thinking of using the time until the next gen arrives to make a dent in my backlog of games. Love the show. Thanks!

TommenDotGif

Hi friennds It's been an absolutely crazy year, with constant news story after news story. It had me thinking, what is the most impactful headline that you've seen in your life? For many people it would be 9/11, but aside from that, for me personally it is probably seeing that Michael Jackson died. It really felt like a piece of world history was gone. How about you, anything in particular that hit you hard or unexpectedly? Keep being awesome!

Joe Kafchinski

After years of the gaming literati saying every open world game needs to steal from Breath of the Wild, Genshin Impact seems to have taken that to the logical extreme. Is Genshin Impact a ripoff? How about The Outer Worlds? Ghost of Tsushima? Where do you folks draw the line between learning from and being inspired by other games, and being a ripoff?

Chris Lopez

Hello Ben and the Cohorts! Seeing as how Nintendo is showing more of Pikmin 3 Deluxe in their direct please give that game some love. The Pimkin franchise is too underrated. Even by Nintendo! Whatever happened to Pikmin 4? Miyamoto said it was almost finished a few years ago? Do you think the demise of the Wii U killed it or will it get released eventually? Thanks!

Danielle3487

Hi, y’all! With there being a big switch in non-gendered character customization recently, I started thinking of the first time I played a character that I truly felt represented by. Being a transwoman, I want to say it was “The Missing: J.J. Macfield and the Island of Memories” which I played last year. It was amazing to make connections to my journey while playing through her journey of self-love. Anyways, what games made y’all feel represented - whether it be gender, race, or just the overall character arc? P.S. Love the show and hearing y'alls lovely voices each week!

Alex Payne

Anyone on the crew playing Genshin Impact cause that game is fantastic and just wanted to know if this is how F2P game should kinda be structured going forward. For anyone that hasn't it's basically a f2p action rpg with breath of the wild like exploration. Keep up the dope work!!

Joshua Leemon

Hello lovelies, Do any of you have a personal preference of play style or option you use that others make fun of? I’ve always played with inverted controls because it makes sense in my brain. If I use regular I can’t function. I know it’s mostly a joke when people rag on inverted controls but it’s really annoying when people do that. Why try to force people to play exactly like you do? We should embrace new ways to play for everyone so that the medium continues to grow instead of shaming and hate keeping. Much love folks

Ben O'Donnell

Hello everyone. I was going through my closet and looking at my old consoles and saw my 3DS sitting there. As I thought about the games I played on it I realized I never beat a game I bought for the 3DS, the closest was Pokémon Y. Have you ever bought a console/handheld and never beat a game on it?

absurdziggy

Heyo, minnmax I'm going to lay out a serious issue. Most of this week a burning enigma has stumped me. This one question has bubbled in my head everytime I have a minute to myself. Food has lost its taste, smells don't smell as good as smell's should smell. I have to know: what are goomba's made of? I've jumped on them to reveal coins, mushrooms and star bits. Are they a combination of these things or do they turn from coins to star bits as they age? If a goomba is wounded can another goomba donate coins to the wounded goomba to make it feel better? P.S.- go to powertothepolls.org if you want to help out the election as poll worker. Sign up was super quick and lots of states are desperate for help. Please help if you are able but stay safe!

Mitch

I just beat Sekiro and it got me wondering, what is the game you are most proud of finishing?

Grizzled Gaming

Hey gang! Is there a videogame or franchise that, on paper, seems like it would be right up your alley and checks all the boxes, but you’ve never been able to get into it? For me, it’s Destiny. Everything thing about it seems like something I’d love, but it has never clicked with me.

Shawn Mills

I per-ordered an Oculus Quest 2 and it's supposed to ship next week! What games would you all recommend for a first-time VR user so I don't puke all over myself when I try it out.

Matt Robinson

Hello gang hope you’re all doing well. With the upcoming release of Cyberpunk and the fact that Keanu is in it, I have a game for you. The following is a list of celebrities. You’re job is to tell me what games they or just their voices have appeared in Christopher Walken—True Crime Streets of LA, True Crime Streets of New York, Ripper, Privateer 2: the Darkening Liam Neeson—Fallout 3, Batman Begins Matthew Perry—Fallout New Vegas Gary Coleman—Postal 2, The Curse of Monkey Island Phil Collins—GTA Vice City Stories Burt Reynolds—Saints Row: The Third, GTA Vice City Ben Kingsley—Fable 3, Ceremony of Innocence Chloe Grace Moretz—Dishonored, Kick Ass the Video Game Billy Bob Thornton—Deadly Creatures

Lachie James

Hey friends, I'm after some recommendations on gaming headsets for the Series X. What are people's opinions on different options?

Brian Riegel

Not really a question but more a comment, I love that you guys are in the Zeitgeist of games because not so long ago I watch a couple YouTubers I follow play Phasmapobia and I LOVE IT! I'm hugely into ghost investigations that are similar to Ghost Adventures and Ghost Hunters (I regularly watch Nuke's Top 5 and Top5s for ghostly content) and I love that someone made a very spooky game about that genre. So it's right up my alley and cannot wait to play it on Halloween! If you play Phasmaphobia, with you play alone, in the dark with headphones....? With that said, what spooky games have you played and what kind of reaction did they give you (jump scares, post game uneasiness, chuckles because of the absurdity..., etc)?

Mike Lynch

Hey Minnmaxers! My daughter hated it when I killed a fox in Breath of The Wild, so since then I've left the little critters alone and always remind them of their good fortune. What's the strangest rule or limit you've set for yourself I. Gaming?

Bob Buel

Howdy cohortskis, I know the discussion is usually "what game do you want a sequel to" but are there games that you don't want a sequel to - games that you feel perfectly happy not having any more installments of? Thanks 15 time Mario 35 Champion The Reverend Bob Buel

Hans Kleinenberg

Ben, quick double tap here for you: First, what's your take on the (surprisingly steep) Patreon income drop and how would you explain it? And second, would you play Fatal Frame 2 for Extra Life?  Thanks!

Sam Morrow

Hello Ben and crew. With next gen launches merely weeks away, I’ve been feeling nostalgic lately. As an adult with my own money and expenses to manage, the excitement of getting a new system is somewhat negated with financial stress. With that being said, what is your best launch memory as a dumb care free kid? I remember the sadness of opening a picture of an Xbox 360 on Christmas morning and a note from my mom saying that she could not find one in time for Christmas. Even as a teenager I was sad and disappointed I would not have a shiny new box to play my games on. This disappointment turned to elation as my sister snuck upstairs and returned with the console! My mom then told me she spent every weekend calling all the stores in town until finally the manager at Sams club took pity on her and held his last console, breaking company rules. That is easily the best console launch memory I have and doubt I will ever be matched. What are your best console launch memories?

Jason Wojnar

Hi Ben and Friends, How many kids do you think are gonna get Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time soon or for the holiday and cry tears of frustration at how difficult it is. Seriously, as a Crash Bandicoot master (having even 100% the debut entry on the PlayStation One) this level of difficulty is insane, especially for getting all the boxes in every level. For anybody who has kids or spends time with them, how do you work with them when they get too frustrated and wound up at a difficult game?

Toasted

Hey all, My question is, nothing can beat nostalgia from childhood, but have you found moments that opened your eyes to the lore and breadth of a video game world, or found a moment or mechanic that simulated childlike bliss in recent times. I remember feeling as if I just snorted my first line of gamer cocaine when the world map first appeared alongside Final Fantasy VII's iconic theme. The fact that there was a giant world and huge adventure beyond Midgar blew me away. I think of moments in Metal Gear Solid, like Otacon warning you in that manic codec call that "you're not alone in that elevator Snake!" What are your thoughts? Are these moments few and far between today because they're locked in nostalgia? Are we just more critical as we get older? Will I ever snort again!?

Sean Mason

Hey MinnMaxers, With the bubbling excitement for the new consoles and the stark differences between Microsoft and Sony’s approaches, I’ve wondered about something I don’t feel has been discussed. How do you feel Shawn Layden’s mysterious exit from Sony might have affected the rollout of the PS5? I think I heard earlier this year that Jim Ryan said there was a lot of internal back and forth about the design of the PS5 and it’s the controller. It seemed odd to me that he would share that information in the same year as the console’s release. This mixed with the lack of communication from Sony about their console has had me wondering what behind the scenes shenanigans Sony might be dealing with. What do you all think?

Taylor Whitt

A little birdie named Andrew Reiner spilled the beans on a live episode of Replay last week that Game Informer and MinnMax are partnering together for Extra Life! It was a delightful surprise while watching Alex play Bioshock Infinite, even the GI team was surprised that Reiner decided to divulge the top secret information. The word is out now, so can you give us more details!?

Alex J. Sandoval

Hiya Ben & Friends, Watching the MinnMax Show has given me a lot of laughs during a rather humorless time (thank you, by the way!), so I thought I'd ask-- who has the best / most infectious laugh at MinnMax? Coming from the GI Show, I always thought Kyle had a wildly infectious laugh that would send me into fits even if the source of it wasn't all that funny to me, and Ben's more unbridled cackle is also highly enjoyable, though more rare in comparison. The less said about Joe Juba's guffaw, the better. (It's great though.) Lately however, I've found Ana's chortle-adjacent laugh to regularly inspire a similar reaction out of me, as it has a kind of unrestrained, almost childlike joy to it that is hard to deny, no matter how stoic I might feel in the moment. What are some of your laughs?

Daniel Fifield

Why is the ps5 half the size of the man in the video? Dear God, it's going to need it's own stand! Keep up the good work!
