Submit Your Jokes About Gaming In 2022 For Our Thanksgiving Tradition (Patreon)

Thanksgiving in the United States is a time for family traditions, so we're back yet again with another attempt to write over 100 reasons to be thankful for gaming this year. Jeff Cork, Leo Vader, Ben Hanson, and Jeff Marchiafava will be sharing 20 reasons they're thankful... which really just means a bunch of mediocre jokes they wrote about video games in 2022.

We need your help to really bring the top tier joke material. Submit a joke or two below about video games in 2022 with the set up "I'm thankful for..." and we'll pick our 20 favorite and share them on the video going up Wednesday, November 23rd. The podcast version will also be in the bonus podcast feed for $5 supporters.

I’m thankful for Mafia II Definitive Edition, Destroy All Humans 2 Reprobed, Warcraft 3 Reforged, Oddworld Soulstorm, GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition, and both remakes of XIII. Sometimes a game isn’t what it should be in its original form, and with modern technology, we can actually make them much worse.

I’m thankful for Sarah Podzorski for asking the hard hitting questions, such as: did you know Hanson used to work at Game Informer? I’m thankful for Tunic. For making me nostalgic for a time where I had game guides, but couldn’t read any of the pages, so I never knew where I was going. I’m thankful for Wordle. For reminding me Adieu is a five letter word with a lot of vowels in it. I’m thankful for Splatoon 3. It reminded me that you don’t actually have to be a big man to go by the nickname big man.

I’m thankful for Matthew Gallant, the Game Director for TLoU Part I, saying “A remaster is more of a tech art endeavor, this was remade from the ground up.” That way there could be absolutely no confusion by anyone, at all, that the game was remade for PS5.

I’m thankful jellyfish are finally getting their moment in big video game properties. Elden ring, god of war ragnarok, and even the voice of Mario in the Mario movie! I’m thankful we are able to get two different responses from major franchises about war. One indefinitely delays a popular franchise and the other just claims it’s not political.

Im thankful for Splatoon 3 for building on the zany action and multiplayer fun of the first two games while introducing plenty of much needed quality of life changes! If only Queen Elizabeth had lived to see this release... She loved claiming territories... Im thankful for Sonic Frontiers for proving once and for all that Sonic does indeed go fast. To the damn bargain bin!

Im thankful to Epic Games for giving away Gloomhaven Digital Edition for free! The digital version of this tabletop masterpiece does an amazing job of replicating how your friends will all agree to a scheduled time to play and then bail the day of. Thanks Epic Games!

I'm thankful for PS Plus Premium. Playstation finally have a tier deadicated to allowing us easy access to all our favourite classic games from the PS1. Good thing there were only six games for it, that could've been a lot of work.

I'm thankful that Pokémon has launched with noticeable performance issues. That way, I don't feel bad about waiting to play it so I can continue God of War. I'm thankful for Persona 5 Royal releasing on another platform, so that the Persona 5 soundtrack can be my favorite OST for a third year. I'm thankful that VR remains expensive enough for me to avoid, so that I don't have to clean up more space for it. I'm thankful for Marvel Snap. With Twitter's impending demise, it's nice to have another excuse to stare at my phone for hours. I'm thankful for the long shelf life of unrefrigerated lettuce. It's truly the gift that keeps on giving in 2022.

I'm thankful for all of Sony's main characters shouting out the puzzle answers. If I wanted to strain my brain I'd have bought an Xbox so I could try to justify the purchase to myself. I'm thankful to Capcom making yet another failed attempt at multiplayer Resident Evil for reminding me that sometimes it's okay to give up. I'm thankful that Nintendo licensed Mario to Ubisoft for another product, proving once again that the Rabbids are nothing but a testbed for something the Minions guys will get rich off of later. I'm thankful for Aperture Desk Job being one of the best written games of the year. Too bad Valve can't shove that in a lootbox, they may put their writers to work more than once a decade. First take: I'm thankful for the strange forms and somber tapestries that gave us one of the wildest mysteries this year: Chrono Cross' framerate issues. Second take: I'm thankful to Scorn for putting out one of the least comprehensible stories all year, only behind the Chrono Cross remake.

I'm thankful for Pokémon Legends Arceus, a chance for Game Freak to get those pesky improved catching mechanics out of their system before Scarlet and Violet. I'm thankful for Sonic Frontiers, even though the only "tears" I see are Sarah's when she realizes there's no chao garden. I'm thankful for Sony's expansion of PlayStation Plus. Oh, wait, sorry, I'm on the "Extra" tier and gratitude is only included in "Premium." I'm thankful for The Last of Us Part 1 Remake. Finally, a way to play this oft-overlooked classic in the modern era.
