Leon, Leah (who nominated this one for the podcast having missed out on our original show back in 2014), James and Sean break down the themes as best they can, with invaluable contributions from forum and Patreon contributors. Wasn’t James Carter dead?;-)

I'm actually playing through this game right now, so I'm going to hold off on this show for at least a month. I remember most things about the original, but as this is Yoko Taro we're talking about I avoided reading or listening to anything about this game in case there are still some twists that have been added or changed.

Good you are not;-)

To Leah's point, I don't know if it's just in the UK but the original Nier for 360 is backwards compatible on the Series X!

Recently listened to the original Nier episode and found it thoroughly enjoyable. This was a great follow-up. This episode has made me rethink giving Nier Replicant a go. Personally I found Automata a little bit underwhelming (in comparison to the wave of positivity it received), which initially put me off Replicant, but I’ll be damned the passion from James and Leah have convinced me!

I got the OG NieR on my PS3 when the game came out. Something about that art style pulled me into the games world even before the game released. This game does have some issues with pacing and gameplay but it has one of the strongest if not the THE strongest plots in entertainment and some of favorite characters in fiction. If you don’t feel something for this character’s, especially Emil, than you’re a monster that I want nothing to do with 🤣. To me the OG NieR is better than Automata, but that was because the plot twist in Automata wasn’t all that shocking for someone who beat the OG. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that you guys will go back and the Drakengard series, we NEED more Yoko Taro episodes!
