I had to stop listening to this half way through and replay it. I had a lovely evening causing chaos.

I hosted several friends for my birthday the February after this game released, and a friend of mine picked up the Switch controller and gave it a try since he had heard of it but hadn't played it. By the time that he got to the ending chase sequence, he had gathered up quite a crowd of onlookers, all excited to see what the goose would do next. By the time the goose dropped the bell into the pit and credits rolled, everyone who was watching erupted into applause and laughter. It takes a special kind of game to have that kind of showmanship and whimsy, and this one's a real winner in my book.

This is definitely going to make me go back and replay and finish this one off My favourite part of the podcast so far is when the domestication of the goose was described as alleged which is what my experience with geese suggests

Great episode as ever thanks. Thought the team did a particularly good job of putting the game in context and reminding us of the gaming landscape at the time of release. I'll pass on this one though because the goose sounds like a right arsehole. Don't think i could enjoy inflicting all that unpleasantness on the poor old townsfolk.

Another fun show. I did think when everyone was talking about how the Switch revolutionised instant resume that the Vita and PSP had done it years before, but I suppose they were much less successful consoles. Also, unless I'm missing something, PS5 doesn't actually have this feature does it? Sometimes games will let you 'resume activity' and it'll drop you immediately in to the most recent save, but more often than not on PS5 I have to go through the whole loading thing - certainly not the same way Xbox handles quick resume, anyway.

You could even put the DS into sleep mode of course.

The GBA had sleep/resume too but the implementation was either inconsistent or spotty. Cannot remember. the PSP was the first one I remember when it was just turning it off and then on again. Revolutionary because it could be done quickly when changing train or whatever. The PS5 has a rest mode when you turn off - effectively the same as the PSP and switch.

Maybe just the SP had it if you closed the screen? I can't remember either to be honest, but I don't remember the original GBA having it.

I've got a feeling the Super Mario 64 comment was just the developers being facetious, seems like their sense of humour to me.
