A notable cult classic, an idiosyncratic game, a commercial failure and a fan favourite. Landing at a formative time for the JRPG genre in the west, EarthBound (Mother 2: Gīgu no Gyakushū / Giygas Strikes Back) loomed very large over the gaming landscape sliding between Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger, two of SquareSoft's biggest hitters from a relatively unknown studio.

Hi chaps, did ep 678 go out? I've no update on the supporter feed since 14th July? Many thanks 🙂

Cane and Rinse

It's delayed until later in the year (check out the monthly podcast for details)!

Ah! Many thanks, thought it was a *pocket casts* problem. Thank god for that 🙂

I'm torn over listening to this one as it's a game I've been meaning to play for literally decades and only ever played the first hour three or four times. Perhaps the show will kick me up the arse enough to finally get it played.

I only ever finished about a quarter of this game, but years ago, a friend came to visit me and played it via emulator on the flight over. We ended up finishing it during his stay because we both really wanted to see it through. Drinking coffee in the mornings and laughing at all the little jokes in this game before everyone else was awake is a memory I hope I won’t soon forget. Great episode. Eddie was a fantastic addition!

I'm finally able to say that I've beaten this game. I knew what to expect after watching an AVGN episode years back. Either way it didn't change anything. It was amazing! First RPG I've ever completed at the young age of 35. Thank you all for giving me the inspiration to get this done! Onto mother 3!
