Death, taxes and a monthly Pateon exclusive podcast from Leon and Jay. I look forward to one out of the three, at least. EDIT: No, it's not death!

I'm glad you both liked Exit 8. I remember recommending it in the comments last year, saying it's the best film from a game I've seen, so my reputation remains. There's also a second game in the series called Platform 8, which is on a train. It's not as interesting as the first one and leans more into the jumps cares, but it's worth a look if you can get it for pennies. I 100% it in 40 minutes.

Now it’s a podcast about sex! Whatever next.

Hiya. This is mainly for Leon and his (and I think entirely good faith) question about supporting your local club. I will come at this from my personal perspective and many of those around me. I would only bother writing this because I really know it is in good faith. It isn't the easiest thing to write down, to be honest. I support Liverpool (and actually, I listened to the pod while I was in Istanbul for a European away) and I grew up supporting the club that my dad did. That was in the 80s. So there are two (contradictory?) elements to that: Glory hunting Following the family For many people, they get into football via going to matches and many get into it via TV. For me, I only could watch football on television. Football grounds were, frankly, not safe for people like my dad, or people like me, in the 80s. In the 90s, one of the first places I went for a game was Stamford Bridge, and I went as a primary school kid completely unaware the Chelsea Smile, but I knew about it soon after (from talking!). There's a general issue for many and a more specific racism element too. I really thought about this when I was door knocking a few years back and met a Brentford fan in Corby that gave me some (playful?) glory hunting jibes after commenting on his Brentford memorabilia. He was thinking of voting Reform, and my dad had lived in West London. And I walked away wondering how many other people voting, or thinking of, voting Reform had been at football matches of the 70s and 80s. This was not necessarily a place where he might be welcomed in. And so, not necessarily a place he would feel his young child would be welcome. And I think, probably correctly. As society (and mainly racists) now keep banging on about integration of minorities, it is worth remembering that while some older racists might say they have changed their minds, maybe some ethnic minorities have a memory of racism that feels a lot more recent when they were on the wrong side of it. And even now, in 2026, some fanbases will boo the breaking of the fast. I completely understand the view of supporting your local club (and I do that sometimes too) but actually, I took my dad to his first ever football match at Euro 2020 (2021) at Glasgow and then Wembley. This was a sport he loved, and he had never felt welcome - he was over 80. That is some of the context of why you might see a lot of ethnic minority fans more concentrated within certain fanbases too. Now, I actually don't know whether football fans in general would prefer fans to have one team their whole life or change it depending on circumstances. Would it be right for fans to change their clubs based on proximity? I feel like that might be (definitely within the fanbases I know) a lot worse. Anyway, I hope that gives a different perspective, and one anyone is more than welcome to disagree with, of course.

Hi Saif! Thanks for your excellent post. Of course I realise that there are all sorts of reasons that people end up supporting one team or another. Please be assured I wasn't being entirely serious on the pod. It's only the most blatant of 'plastic' or glory hunter fan who I have no time for. Inheriting your team from your Dad is a totally different matter. I am really sorry to hear that you and your dad have been made to feel uncomfortable at football, either in the past or more recently. As you can imagine, I love it the most when the crowd (home and away) is diverse and cosmopolitan. I also started going in the 80's when crowds were much rougher, and even whiter, than they are nowadays, and it was unpleasant enough to be around even as a member of a much safer demographic. All the best to Liverpool for the rest of the season - except this Saturday! Leon

Over time (in relation to what Leon said about reaction streamers for football) I have just become tired with YouTube and streamers and influence in general. I enjoy a great podcast still (why I'm here of course!) but im sick to death of the insincerity and parasocial exploitation of YouTube. Nothing is real, people overshare, exploit people for money and like and clicks. If you'd told me years ago you'd pay £10 to send someone a single line of text in a stream, id have thought it was a joke. It's all nonsense. Rant over.

Incidentally although I’m sure you blokes will talk about it naturally, I would like to hear what you think about the price of the PS5 going up again! Nearly 6 years into the gen and the price of Xbox and ps5 is substantially higher than it was at launch.
