Can confirm that the original GBA had a headphone jack by looking at my original that I have somehow kept and kept functioning all this time. I never owned an SP, so I didn’t realize they beat Apple to forcing people to use a stupid dongle to plug in headphones to their device.

Brian, glad to know I’m not the only one with a spreadsheet listing all the games I have played or completed.

TracyWil1

The SP definitely did not have a standard headphone jack and required an adapter.

Also wanted to add the original GBA SP model was front lit, not back lit. However a later model of the SP released 2 years later was truly back lit. I remember the horrible front lit screen. Better than not being lit, but was still just pointing a light at the front of the screen.

Another cracking C&R Castlevania extravaganza. I didn't play any of these games at the time, but got back into them for the channel and was really impressed by all of them for very different reasons. I look forward to the next podcasts about further entries in the GBA Castlevania games. Also it was refreshing to hear a Castlevania Podcast where I didn't catch strays or get called a "perverse character!" Keep up the good work team.

Lastly just wanted to mention that Chris said in his wrap up that he agreed with me on the DSS system of obtaining cards through random monster drops should have been things you found in exploration. While I do agree with this, I wasn’t the one who left that feedback, that was Jobobonobo. My feedback was that the constant grinding to obtain rare card drops made a great game frustrating. I know it was probably just a slip up since my feedback was read out on the pod right before his was, but I didn’t want be given credit for someone else’s feedback.

Fun fact: I bought the Castlevania Advance Collection back in 2024 because I was predicting Circle of the Moon would be on the 2025 schedule! Well, played a dozen hours or so on it, but still not enough or not early enough to have any good feedback to give ^_^"

Jobobonobo

Ah thanks for that, I remember listening to the episode and thinking "wait, was that not me who said that?". Regardless, I did not take offense to the mix up. Great episode by the way and I can't wait to try out more metroidy-type Castlevanias in the future!
