Should add ‘For All Mankind’ to your Apple watch list 👍

Cormoran Strike

There is a Ben Riley in the Spider-Man comics! But I would recommend reading a Wikipedia summary on it as the Spider-Man ‘clone saga’ is a convoluted nonsense mess that’s not worth reading.

Widow’s Bay is also my favourite show of the year. It’s been consistently great each week!

Are they trying to kill Jay with crème eggs? The answer is Yes

Quiet Paul

Great episode lads. What a dramatic way to kick it off too. I sort of miss the drama from neighbours. We moved to the leafy suburbs of Paisley recently and I got woken early morning the other day by a gang of youthful magpies. About 10 of them gathered on the pavement screaming at each other and up to no good. Not as fun. Thanks for keeping my work commutes entertaining!

Hey Jay, are there any specific YouTube channels you've been using to watch the Sumo wrestling? Thanks!

Cane and Rinse

Hey Alex, NHK World-Japan is our go-to when the tournaments are on. They post the highlights for each day as the tournament is ongoing. However, they don't appear to save these videos at all once the tournament is over as I can't see any trace of them on their YT channel or even my watch history. https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/tv/sumo/

Cheers Jay, I'll have a look, sounds interesting. I was reading up a bit this morning about Sumo and it's crazy the way they live (probably the wrong word and not culturally sensitive, but honestly!) It was talking about how strict the wrestlers have to be, all living in a commune and then only the elite level athletes are allowed to move out and have relationships and families etc, but then it they get relegated they have to leave their families and move back to the commune. Really interesting stuff.

Great show as usual! I watched that Fall film when it was on Netflix and found it genuinely terrifying. There's a moment in the film, the only real plot twist, where it genuinely chilled me for a moment. I don't watch much 'horror' (not that this is a traditional horror) though so it's all relative I suppose. I quite enjoyed it though, for a bit of fun. (Fun!?)

Alex79

Sounds like they were up to..... mischief. Ahahahaha. Sorry.

Quiet Paul

Ba dum tss! 😄 At least it wasn’t crows.

Cormoran Strike

Surely if one needed to cast someone to play Jay, the only actor could be Karl Urban channeling Billy Butcher from the boys!

Alex79

No, that would have been..... No I can't do it.

Haven't seen Fall, but the recent mockumentary-ish film Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie has the two protagonists standing on top of the CN Tower in Toronto and cutting their safety wires, a scene that had me swearing at my tv and made my legs all tingly (you ever get that?). Now, I don't consider myself an acrophobic, but when I'm up somewhere high I do sometimes fear that I might involuntarily toss myself off in a split-second of madness. Guess that's more of an issue of me not trusting my own brain. (I can recommend that film, by the way, as well as the Canadian show it's a continuation of.)

I strongly believe that it will be a matter of time before us (Patreons) will provoke Jay in the Patreon Chat with the terms: "David Cage", "Quantic Dream" and "Not interested in Arcane". 😅😅😅😅

Azzan

I respectfully disagree, only Neil Maskell can play Jay... maybe Jayson Stathem as himself playing Jay 😂😂😂😂😂

As you mentioned, for me (a non-native English speaker) the accent is almost never an issue, it’s the audio mix. Sometimes it’s just bloody inaudible and watching something without subtitles becomes a real issue. For reference you’ve featured a wide variety of accents on Cane and Rinse over the years, none of which has been any issue whatsoever (shoutout to Mr Foreman).

Oh, music talk, fun! I recently found a vintage turntable in the recycling bin that I took home and renovated. These days I mainly listen to records I’ve scavanged in the local record shop. Honestly if not another song was recorded ever again I would still not run out of ”new” music to discover. Loving it. Also, similar to Jay, I’ve never been much of a hip-hop fan but I’ve discovered I quite like some of the older stuff from the 80’s and 90’s.

Hi guys. I wanted to write and convey my appreciation for Cane & Rinse. In general, I listened to every episode of main podcast regardless playing the game or not and you have introduced me to what have become some all time favourites. Lucky my memory is terrible so I forget most spoilers. The bonus show too, I take many recommendations from. However, I want to say that I also go back to the pods once I eventually finish something you've covered and how much I appreciate the archive. I've just finished Link's Awakening (2019) on the Switch 2 and ep.462 of the pod. I didn't want to play it on the Switch 1 as the fluctuating frame rate made me feel queasy just watching reviews of the game. If you haven't gone back, and have a Switch 2, I can confirm that the FPS is pretty much a solid 60 throughout. I adored the game start to finish. Thanks for everything.
