As Capcom gears up to soft reboot dormant franchise Onimusha, we look back a quarter of a century to its origins, 2001's Onimusha: Warlords. Leon, Chris Worthington, James and Michiel suck Genma souls like it's Luigi's haunted hotel in this tricky, Spenceresque Sengoku Mansion. We also talk about the game's interface, systems, challenge and - with contributions from the listeners - some of the changes made to both the Xbox version and the more recent remaster.Music featured in this issue:1. This episode is challenging me to dowload Onimusha on Nintendo Switch 2 and play the hell out of it, unlocking all its secrets then moving towards PS4 Platinum.

It is a crime not finishing the episode with Dark Realm as its closing soundtrack, sorry Jay. Samanosuke theme is alright though.

bit behind on my podcasts, but hearing onimusha was an OG xbox game blew my mind. This is one series I'm surprised Capcom hasn't platformed the same way they do RE - I know rights issues were a thing, but clearly they've found a way forward. It really feels like this would've continued to be a titan along side Blizzard games, GTA, etc. with the quality of cinematics. I imagine Onimusha platform fighter won't get a show, so just want to mention it and what started as the trend of putting Mega Man Zero in fighters and him being overpowered - like the Akuma of "versus" games With you revealing to me that this game ALSO started off as a RE game, I'm just going to make the assumption that every Capcom game after this point started as a Resident Evil once!

Oh yeah, that's right. He's even broken tier in SNK's SVC Chaos!
