It's rare for us to review a 10 year-old game that's still in active development, but here we are. Much has already been said about the majestic comeback story that is No Man's Sky - and we do touch upon that here - but we mainly wanted to discuss what we did and didn't enjoy about playing the game in its 2026 form. Leon, James, Rich and Patreon posters do just that, telling tales of adventure in this practically infinite possibility space.Music featured in this issue:1. Really hope you enjoyed this one, I absolutely love the game!

On PlayStation, thankfully the Platinum didn’t require making it to the center of the universe in Full Survival and Permadeath mode. Otherwise I would have never earned the Platinum like I did.

Also I didn’t think about this until near the end of the episode when Leon was talking about what this game reminded him of and how it let him fulfill a space fantasy. The old school game that was originally that for me was Wing Commander: Privateer. Extremely limited due to the tech of the time, but I loved the freedom, for the time, this game gave me on exploring space and choosing to do what I want to. No Man’s Sky is like that dream realized.

Too bad we couldn’t get any feedback on the VR experience. I’ve heard it’s pretty cool. I’m mostly with James in that I came to the game for the 65daysofstatic and the dream of the possibilities of the game, and while there is a lot to enjoy… I just don’t care much for the survival and base-building stuff. If the combat was more engaging or they had a more robust story to delve into it would definitely win me over more because I want to love this game, those mechanics just get in the way.

I absolutely loved Privateer, too! Thanks for reminding us about it. 😊

Ok I remembered to come back this week to say I did enjoy the show 😆 listening to the monthly podcast I realised I often leave a comment to say I had been looking forward to a show and Leon always says "well I hope you enjoyed it" - I did!

I’ve always wanted to play this, it was just never at the tip-top of my wish list, but this episode finally made me pull the trigger (that and it was on sale) My backlog was already too long before adding this potentially endless game to it, but hey that’s life.

I’ve only played about an hour or so of No Man’s Sky, and from the little bit I played I can say the VR is incredibly immersive and the controls are confusing to me. It’s definitely not the type of game that I can play for bit and sit it down and come back later, there’s a lot of buttons and button combinations to remember. Really enjoyed the episode! As I probably will never come back to this game to play again, but ya never know.
