Remember a time when the most lavishly produced videogames were full motion video comedy adventure games?  Chris Worthington, Brian, Chris O’Regan and James do! In this issue they have a long look at Access Software's cult hit, Under A Killing Moon, to find out whether all that investment would guarantee a game that still shines 30 years later.Music featured in this issue:1. Daily Introduction by Larry Bastian/Jon Clark/Eric Heberling2. Tex's Office 1 by Larry Bastian/Jon Clark/Eric Heberlingedited by Ryan

Brilliant coverage from the team and phenomenal hosting by Chris. A very balanced panel in the end which I think is important. Funnily enough I stumbled across Tex in a PC Gamer demo where it was heavily advertised and had no idea about the Zone vs Gamer rivalry as a one magazine (if I was lucky) kid. Maybe if Chris O’Regan had been a PC Gamer reader he’d have come to a different conclusion. Would love to see if Pandora Directive wins him over although I suspect he’s not in the “Zone” for that prospect 😉

I agree with Simon. This was an amazing episode by the crew. Has me looking forward to the next game in the series. Question though: are the first 2 Tex Murphy games worth playing and will they be covered in a future episode?

Chris Worthington

Hi Tracy. I'd always recommend playing the earlier games in a series but these are a tough sell. They're not great. I particularly struggled with Martian Memorandum. I found it so slow. That said, they're easily accessible so they're probably worth checking out. As for a future issue? It would be up to Leon and Jay but I doubt it

Thanks for sharing that info. Just know that if the earlier ones ever get covered, I will play along and leave my feedback and three word review. Although I might be the only one who does. I really appreciate y’all covering all sorts of different game types that I would have never considered playing otherwise. Thank you.

Younger me loved Mean Streets. I remember it having more of a Blade Runner feel, but I can't recall if it has any of the humor or any wonky bits that may not play as well on a modern system like Killing Moon did since I haven't been back to it since the 90s. I'm definitely looking forward to Pandora Directive and *fingers crossed* a better control scheme?

I've not listened to this yet because it's on my "might play one day" list, could I ask how you guys played the game? I was hoping it was supported by ScummVM but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Chris Worthington

Hi Alex. It's available on Steam and James managed to get if configured for the Steam Deck. I find the exoDOS archive great for these old DOS games

Ah thank you :) I hadn't heard of exoDOS before, what an amazing find!
