2026-09-21 00:00 I share Jay’s feelings of trauma regarding school (perhaps slightly differently as I was born in 1993) and I hope he’s doing ok with it. On my last day of school, my attendance has become quite irregular due to various factors and I turned up at the school one day only to find out my entire year group had graduated and I was unaware of it. Left the premises and never went back!

Jay, I like to think, thanks to Dogma, that Alanis Morissette is God. 😂 Although sucks that someone punched you just cause of your thoughts on it. Jeez. That’s brutal.

I loved Mission Impossible 3. Was so much better than the 2nd one.

Hi all, I really got into this episode as I've just started teacher training. Just to respond to a few things from the discussion - - I also had some traumatic times at school. I went to a Northern grammar school in the 90s, and there were a few teachers there who'd been there since the 80s or earlier. I'm glad to report that teachers (and school staff in general) today are far better trained, for example regarding safeguarding. I.e., if there's something up with a kid (eg., because they're being bullied), there's a responsibility and a clear process to support the child. It's been a bit disturbing, though to learn how much of my experiences wouldn't/shouldn't have been allowed to occur given today's standards. - For stop-motion animation fans, please check out the work of my old friend Simon Cartwright. His awarding short 'Man O Man' will I'm sure get a few laughs / gasps of amazement. - I listened to the episode while making a batch of onion-tomato masala, which I do every few weeks as a relaxing activity. Highly recommend slow cooking as a way to chill out from job / life stress. Much love x

sorry, forgot Man O Man is puppetry rather than stop-motion but Simon has done some amazing stop-motion stuff

LOVED hearing about THX-1138. Like Jay (and others?) I also had a VHS copy of from late night cable. with the added bonus of Lucas' student USC film version. The 15 min format makes for even more ambiguity. I upgraded to the DVD SE when it was first released, with some commercial fanfare, believe it or not, here in the States. Jay is right that it's not a movie you watch alot, but each watch is riveting. It's a masterpiece, IMO. The world Lucas created with limited resources (pre CGI additions obviously) is incredible. Robert Duvall and Donald Pleasence add solid performances that I think separate it from most 70s dystopia films like Soylent Green and Logans Run (even if I love watching those too). The enhancements mostly work, but to be honest they weren't needed. Maybe Lucas is at his best when he has the least to work with? Buy more. Buy more now. And be happy.

Don’t sweat playing only Ninja Jay, i played almost exclusively Samurai all the way through and only started mixing in both after like 100 hours. Also have you run into the Four Heavenly Kings yet? 😎

Only just managed to listen to this, but core memory unlocked when Jay started taking about the film, "if...." As a kid sometimes I was allowed to sneak back downstairs after my younger brother had gone to sleep and watch a film with my dad. I watched some terribly unsuitable films for a 9/10 year old, and this was one of them 😆 I remember thinking I enjoyed it but being quite confused by it all.

Yeah, school sucked. Best days of your lives? Always makes me wonder how shit people's lives have become when they say that!

Cormoran Strike

I think it's mostly a thing of people's nostalgia googles for the good parts of youth and conflating those memories with school. Like the summer holidays of 6-7 weeks which you never get as an adult!

so i'm a bit behind on my podcasts, so you've probably went over KH 360 degrees feedback already BUT here it is anyway: Organization XIII wants to slay heartless as they release stolen hearts. Pureblood Heartless themselves do not have hearts, but they desire them from living beings, hence why they're dangerous. Nobodies are born when beings with particularly strong wills become heartless (by losing their heart). Pureblood heartless have no emblem, Emblem Heartless are artificial and release a heart (hence why when you defeat one you see a heart come out). The main point is to release enough hearts to open Kingdom Hearts and obtain the power within. Kingdom Hearts lore is like when someone asks you on the spot to spell a word, and it takes you a moment to get your bearings. You know for sure how to spell "gyre" but having to consciously think of it gives you pause. Feel free not to read this as it's only going to be relevant to a percent of a percent of listeners lol. PS: this is an explanation from someone who hasn't touched the mobile games, so there may be even more asterisks in the actual explanation should you choose to go deeper!
