What happens when you filter Hollywood's romantic view of the Old West through the lens of a Japanese arcade game studio in the early 1990s? Sunset Riders, yeehaw! A posse of Leon, Brian, Chris W and returning guest Ben "One Credit Classics" Cartlidge mosey on down and saddle up with Konami's gaudy run and gun, rootin' tootin' shootin' and lootin' through its hectic stages and tough boss encounters, along with help from their podners the Cane and Rinse listeners.Music featured in this issue:1. Look forward to listening later! Great panel lineup and always nice to hear Ben on arcade shows, too!

Ah this is such a great game - just had another quick go. Not sure I'll ever be able to 1cc it, I can get as far as the damn whip guy on the second train stage (where you have to duck and jump over the masts) without losing a single life, but then he just drains all my lives every time. Even later bosses don't seem as tricky. Just can't work out a decent strategy for him. I've only ever seen the rest of the game by credit feeding past him! 😫

Ok, to be fair, waiting 14 years to leave feedback on Sunset Riders in reference to feedback left on Red Dead Redemption... even I am not that petty. LOL. So I didn't discover and start listening to Cane & Rinse until around Covid timeframe. And initially I just listened to episodes in order for the first couple of hundred, whether I had played the game or not. Then over 2 years ago, I decided I would start over and only listen to episodes for games I have played through or attempted. Which then a bit later turned into me this year trying to play all games covered for upcoming volumes to leave feedback on while working on my backlog. Long story short, I played through Red Dead Redemption and re-listened to episode 18 last year and decided I would save that feedback for if and when Sunset Riders was ever covered. I was only a little over 1 year petty, not 14. But I'm glad ya'll enjoyed my feedback and reference.

In retrospect, not going with "Git gud podner!" for my 3 word review was a missed opportunity.
