Can you recommend any non-videogame podcasts that you enjoy regularly, and what are your favourites?

Johan Malmgren

Film vs. Film: Blade Runner Blade Runnder 2049

Jordan

Does Cane N Rinse ever plan on showing us the full list of games considered for the show? Curious to see if some of my personal favorite are at least being considered. That being the Shantae game series.

Reuben Cornell

Maybe a weird question. I have a friend who runs a software reviewing channel and he recently decided to close it due to trolls and threats to his family. Very sad. I wondered as Cane and Rinse is pretty high profile now, has the team ever experienced anything like that?

Cane and Rinse

We'll answer this in full on the podcast, but you know that we'll add any and all suggestions from the community, so if you guys want something on the list, all you have to do is tell us. As it goes, the Shantae games are already on there, but we would have added them at your request anyway!

Simon Nelson

Given cane and rinse loves to approach a series in its entirety covering every game I was wondering how you approach new entries in a series you’ve previously covered. I’m looking at breath of the wild and super Mario oddysey as obvious examples.

Channing Cornwall

Good day gentlemen, what are some of your favorite 'hidden gem' games? For me personally it's always been the PsOne Classic, Alundra. It's a game that has a pretty strong cult following, but I almost never hear anyone talk about despite it's beautiful pixel art, detailed world, challenging gameplay, and surprisingly dark and complex story. It's the perfect game for any Legend of Zelda fan. So, are there any games out there you're a little gobsmacked about that don't get the proper recognition?

Simon Nelson

Also on a personal level when a new game comes out how often you individually replay old entries to refresh your memory. For example red dead before the sequel released recently.

Will Ford

How do you guys personally approach planning for the podcast? As someone that enjoys writing from time to time, I find planning to be the most difficult part by far, to the point where I omit a plan completely. Given Cane & Rinse is more a pre-structured discussion than review, do you feel like you can just bounce off each other when the time comes or do you write a plan for what you intend to say?

Alison Watkinson

I've noticed that there is an 'Assassins Creed series' episode from the early days of the podcast, but there have been several more installments since then. Do you ever intend to cover the rest? It would be cool to hear your thoughts on some of the later ones.

Alex Brandt

Are you guys going to do something similar to your "A Look Back at 2017" pod this year? I listen to most GOTY podcast discussions out there and your year in review was the format I actually preferred most and introduced me to many titles I never would have otherwise played. Also would love to hear another epic medley on Sound of Play!

Eric Mikols

I imagine with your constant jumping from game to game for the show, you need to have a few "recharge' games that get you through some tough Cane and Rinse episodes. For me, it's games like Civilization IV, Dynasty Warriors 3 and Burnout 3: Takedown. What are yours or do you just find the act of playing ANY video game to be energizing enough?

TK

Being based in the UK I was wondering if UK gaming culture differs from US gaming culture? Was gamergate just as bad overseas as it was here? Obviously that was an internet based issue so it's sort of a global issue but it did seem to stem from the US. But overall just curious what you think the big differences are between gamers in the US and gamers in the UK.

Martin Gibson

Just a quick question from me. Which game that you really loved playing the first time around disappointed you the most when you went back to play it again to do a show? While I genuinely loved the N64 era at the time I have found those games harder to revisit than earlier generation games. For example I can still happily play Gradius on the NES but not Mario Kart 64 which we played so much of at the time but which I now find incredibly annoying and boring.

DarkFishDays

I really enjoyed hearing the bonus Red Dead Conversation episode you guys posted recently. Do you think you’ll make more in this style? As in a shorter, less formal conversation on a recently released game. Even if it was a one time thing it was a great surprise!

Broken Circus

Sorry if this has been asked already; but are you planning to invite more community members onto Sound of Play? (assuming you've worked through the previous list already...!)

Cane and Rinse

Still working through a fairly long list, but still adding people to that list.

Scott Lamond

In your opinions what is the sweet spot for a game that has ‘extras’ along with a main story? For example I completed GTA3 and Vice City 100%, but from San Andreas onwards there’s too much, so I get through the story mode and a handful of other things but no intention of getting to 100%. I understand RDR2 is similarly overwhelming with stuff to do. How big is too big?! What kind of extras are good/bad - side missions, photographing every flower, collecting hidden packages, mini-games, killing x enemies with item y and so on. What extra things have you seen that have been a joy to do vs. ones that were a dirge (but you did them anyway!)?

Mclordenstein

With Spiderman Being such a big first party success for Sony I would like to open a hypothetical can of worms. Which Licensed property comics or otherwise do you think would suit Nintendo and Microsoft in the same way? and who would you have develop them?

Nick Grugin

Any chance you'll do a show on Fatal Frame, either the first 1 or the series as a whole?

Cane and Rinse

All of the Fatal Frame/Project Zero games are on the long list.

Marco Hernandez

Great to see some contributors consistently sharing their thoughts. I was wondering if either of my two major stumbling blocks in doing the same have affected the team. 1. The games I've not played on the list become much more inviting so I don't go back and revisit previously played games as I'd intended. 2. Specifically about Final Fantasy VI in my case, I loved this game so much I couldn't trust myself to write about it in anyway that didn't sound inane to my own ears. I realise enthusiasm has merit too; listening to Jay talk around Horizon Zero Dawn has meant I've put off listening to that podcast until I've played it. (See 1) More like, my experience with it has so many memories and brings up so many feelings that I can't explain myself properly. Just me?

Cane and Rinse

Thank you for all your questions and comments. A bumper monthly podcast will appear in this here feed at some point today.
