And so after a year's worth of zombies, spooky mansions, scary laboratories, definitely not zombies, horrific scripts and shocking performances, we reach the end of our Resident Evil series of podcasts. 2017's Resident Evil VII: Biohazard felt like a reboot of sorts and so Leon, Brian, Leah and Sean debate - partnered with a divided Cane and Rinse community - whether or not another change of perspective was a step too far, or the shot in the arm that the franchise neededMusic used in this issue:1. Hey all, just listened to the ep--having finished the game around seven (!) times at this point, wanted to chime in to help clear up what sounded like a couple points of contention: a) I understood Ethan's general ignorance of Mia's situation as a product of him not actually receiving the panicked video we see in the beginning, but rather the very brief email we find in his inventory...The hands we see during the game's opening cutscene are Mia's, which are shown again during her video flashback on the boat, if you opt to interact with the laptop. b) The Mr. Everywhere statues blessedly do serve a purpose--destroying them all should unlock the "Secrets of Defense" book, which (when kept in your inventory) reduces block damage by 50%. When it's paired with the "Essence of Defense" book, block damage is reduced by 100%, which I found necessary for finishing Madhouse. c) The "Daughters" DLC does seem to present a different time frame of infection than the core game suggests...I think the best way to make sense of it is that the Bakers did manage to maintain some semblance of humanity during the day (albeit in a daze), but would spend the nights under Eveline's control, which gradually got worse as the infection took hold. It's still kinda flimsy, but I'll take it. Anyway, sorry C&R has reached the end of the mainline Resi series, really enjoyed the eps! Looking forward to Revelations 2 one day--it's as dumb as they come (not a complaint), but a far cry better than 5 or 6!

Another Great ep...feels like there is less to talk about with this one than the others in the series but perhaps that is a good thing. A great "REboot" of sorts which I've not been back to since finishing due to the dreaded backlog but I am keen to head back in. I try to save these games to put the fear into my girlfriend...Outlast 2 is the current playthrough. However, I suspect, throughout the RE series, I'm more in love with the lore as ridiculous as it is, than I am playing the games

This was a bit cooler on the game than I thought it might be. You were never less than fair, though, and always a great listen. (I liked it a whole bunch). Happy Christmas! X

Let me begin by saying I really don’t like being negative on any game let alone the RE series. I’ve even been burned many times by the RE series, this game however I have very few positive things to say. To me the single word I would most use is irritating. I kept hearing about how RE7 is a return to form so I was excited. What I was greeted with was a story about a husband trying to find his missing/dead wife. Immediately I was like wait, is this a rip off of Silent Hill 2? My opinion sadly didn’t warm to the game. Yeah it is the plot of Silent Hill 2 if you took out everything that made that game good and replaced it with characters that even Wesker and Rob Zombie would be ashamed to be around. Jack Baker and Marguerite are so over the top that they never come out as scary to me in any form. Especially that scene when Jack but through the wall like the Kool-Aid man, I couldn’t help but laugh and say Oh Yeah! Between that and the “oops I lost my hand again “ main character this game isn’t scary it’s just Army of Darkness level of cheese and comedy. Then there’s the molded. The game has the least interesting monster design in the series. What happened to the iconic lickers, hunters, zombies, or even the Zombie Dogs? All gone and in its place are bland and repetitive enemies. The game is fun to play and I like what they did with the title but that’s about all the praise I can give. I even played on VR trying to find the scares but to me it’s like a comedic take of House of a 1000 Corpses but with less subtlety. I honestly wouldn’t recommend this game even though I had fun, it just isn’t what I come to the series for. Sorry Brian.
