I was so disappointed, I really wanted to contribute to the podcast for this one so dug it out and replayed it for like, a month, only to discover I'd missed the cutoff for the recording by 2 days! Lol. Ah well, I still had a blast replaying it, it's like a weird blend of Resi 4, Silent Hill and Hitman, 3 of my favorite series. The story got a bit weird and hard to follow but actually playing it is still both challenging and fun. Even on New Game+ and getting to keep my upgraded abilities, I still found myself getting my butt kicked repeatedly, desperately scrambling for even just a couple of handgun bullets to get me to the next checkpoint. I never once felt I was overpowered or half the time even ready for the next chapter. Proper survival horror if you ask me! Plus I see Shinji Mikami finally got his invisible enemies in a game of his (I hate them! ) Can't wait to listen and see if anyone else enjoyed it as much as me :-)

Michiel Kroder

Ha yes, he had been trying to get them in for a while already!

Not played this one but enjoyed hearing about it. Maybe I’ll check it out in the future.

I think this game is up there in the strangely scarce pantheon of "third-person survival horror/action" games. Dead Space 2, Resi 4, and this game (and it's sequel) scratch an itch for me that I don't get from any others. That feeling that every single shot matters; that feeling that you have to maintain your composure--especially in the most tense moments. If anyone has any other similar games outside of these and the series they're from, I'm all ears. Great episode, as always! I'm eager to hear the panel's thoughts on Evil Within 2. By the way, was Leon trolling everyone by saying he found every single key on his playthrough? I refuse to believe anyone is that observant haha. Some of them are in some seriously obscure places.

I haven't discussed this with him yet, but I'm inclined to think mr. Cox hadn't clocked that both sides of the safe walls contain THREE horizontal rows of safes that can be opened. And for the bottom rows you need to aim down to get the prompt to open them.

Haha, too funny. I was replaying after getting inspired by your episode. Even with visual guides as references, I had trouble with some of those statues.
