Content

In very probably our last ever podcast on the venerable series, we finally give Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain the once-over. Leon, Charlotte, Jay, Rich and guest Maria Roberts valiantly attempt to distill down their thoughts on the troubled and sometimes troublesome denouement. There are also plenty of contributions from Cane and Rinse community members via forum, email and social media.Music used in this issue:

1. Various Jingles - Ludvig Forssell

2. Quiet's Theme (db Tender) - Ludvig Forssell & Donna BurkeCane and Rinse 393 was edited by Jay Taylor

Wow that was great. I've never disagreed so viscerally with the opinions on a podcast so much as I did with Rich on this one. I get the appeal of exploring 80s geopolitics, the two worldviews of Snake/Skullface, and child soliders; but given Kojima's inconsistent tone, childish tendencies and complete lack of an editor I feel all these topics miss the mark massively. Kojima is like Tarantino, tries interesting things but NEEDS an editor imo. But this is why I like this podcast, views I don't agree with put forward well.

Very very well done. As always you continue to raise the bar so high that it’s almost unfair on other podcasts. I am astounded by the near exponential increase in quality since episode one. Hats off to Jay for his commitment to truly rinsing each game he plays as it makes his appearances invaluable. It’s almost like you are living up to the podcast name with Leon caning his way through multiple titles and Jay rinsing everything he switches on.

Enjoyed a lot about MGS 5 and was looking forward to this episode for years. It didn’t disappoint. Great episode.
