Moon Studios' magical Metroidvania sequel demands our attention in this follow up to our Ori and the Blind Forest show from some five years ago. Ori and the Will of the Wisps boasts sumptuous new graphics, significantly revised gameplay and a lavish new score, but does it tell the same old story? Leon and a vintage Cane and Rinse panel of James, Josh and Ryan - along with contributors from the community - twirl nimbly among the trees to untangle the entrancing from the tedious.Cane and Rinse 495 edited by Ryan Zhao

I must admit I haven't played this game, but the talk of Metroidvanias has forced me to come on here to inappropriately ask about Metroid Dread. Have you played it Leon (or anyone else) and if so, what do you think? It is my game of the year because of the amazing feel of the gameplay, but it also frustrates the hell out of me. I absolutely hate the EMMIs and I'm too stupid to figure out most of the energy tank/missile upgrades. Also, Shinespark can die a death. But when you're in the zone, boy oh boy does it feel good, and the bosses are incredible! Apologies, but I had to get that off my chest :-)

I just got GamePass so I was actually able—for the first time ever—to play the game concurrently with listening to the episode. I enjoyed hearing your thoughts, and I think Ryan articulated well the minor quibbles I had with the combat. Still dig the game!
