When a beloved game is remade, there’s always the question: what will it be when it comes out... again? So many people have been asking that same question since the original Final Fantasy VII came out in 1997 that the long (long, long) awaited Final Fantasy VII Remake couldn’t help but be a pretty big deal. But is it really a remake? Or a sequel? Or something in between? Join Leah, Brian, James and Tom as they try to figure it out, and examine how the game got to where it is now.

As a life long Final Fantasy fan I couldn’t have been more excited for the remake of Final Fantasy VII. I even say that as someone who never really championed the OG, it’s not that I didn’t like the OG but I had many problems with it, especially involving how Barret is depicted and don’t even get me started on the absolute POS that is Cid. But I was still extremely on board for the Remake. And it absolutely delivers. Barret is actually a well realized character instead of just a walking stereotype. The combat is fluid and exciting. The graphics are out of this world gorgeous. And the story is exciting again with things being absolutely different. To me this took what was an ok game and made it a masterpiece, best game of the PS4 generation in my mind (with Rebirth being the game of this gen as well). I would absolutely recommend this game to anyone, especially because it was free at one point so you might even have in a library already. This game is absolutely a must play kupo-po!

Fantastic! This is the one I've been waiting for all year. Can't wait to listen.

Great panel, great discussion, and Leah is awesome! Being an Xbox owner I haven't had a chance to play FF7R, but I love the original and can at least say the soundtrack to FF7R is remarkable.
