Need something to while away two and a half hours of your time? This month we waffle on about the best French action, historical, martial arts, monster movie that people haven't seen, streaming services and what we happen to have been playing over the past month. As usual there's your feedback along with us answering at least a few more of your questions too.

Thanks so much for another beautifully waffly monthly exclusive. It's probably not what you were expecting but these are my favourite cane and rinse episodes! I'm struggling to find the list of up coming games on the C&R website. Do you publish it publically? Thanks

In response to leon's idea to put feedback on Patreon: It's maybe not the most "audience friendly" thing to do, but if I were running C&R I'd lock game feedback behind the Patreon wall and at a higher tier than the base $2. We do this on our own show and it works well - it provides a very tangible benefit to a Patreon tier, provides a way for people to post without it being read by the general audience ahead of release, and it also elevates the discussion a bit because it separates the wheat from the chaff (usually) - people who support us financially are less likely to be sh*t posters (not saying C&R suffers from this, just a general observation across the board). It will also almost certainly increase Patreon income. downsides: the posting to Patreon can become spammy (we do a single listing every few months and have all comments go to a single post) and Patreon is not *wonderfully* suited to this but it's also not terrible at it. It just takes a bit of work to sort through them (CTRL+F ftw). Happy holidays to everyone at C&R!

Totally agree with sticking with the forum. I find discord incredibly difficult to keep up with if you are not engaged with it constantly - and speaking personally my busy work and personal life would not allow that (but it's also possible I am using it wrong)! I don't often post on the forum but it's a great way to engage at a leisurely pace as a digest of others thoughts. Just my two pence..

Brotherhood of the Wolf Collector’s Edition is ordered! Haven’t seen that film since it came out and remember recommending it to people a lot when working at a rental place back then. Regarding Sound of Play: I absolutely loved the show, but it was never on Spotify so I would have to set up another app just to listen to it. Also, while I enjoyed the interviews, my favorite episodes were always the series specials. Ryan’s end of year and gaming year mixes were a close second.

Ben

Yeah, Discord’s format can be problematic, especially on highly active channels.

I saw a meme which says "you never feel more like a ghost than when people on a podcast are arguing about something you know the answer to", and I've never related more, when you guys were talking about Resident Evil. Jay was talking about the feature film, "Resident Evil: Weclome To Raccoon City" which is currently cinema only, and Leon was referring to the as-yet-untitled Netflix Resident Evil series which is a sort of "what-if" scenario about the Wesker children moving to Raccoon City, featuring Lance Reddick as Albert Wesker. I know you both have probably Googled it to see who was right by now, but I was walking back from the weekly shop and literally shouting out loud through my headphones 😆

Cane and Rinse

Ha! It was a very good indication of how invested we are in extra Resident Evil media.

Sorry, BIG RE fan. I still have all of your RE podcasts saved as MP3's on my phone to listen to as comfort listening. I was Cardb0ardC0wb0y on the RE2 remake 'cast and I still like hearing you guys discuss my feedback. I don't know if that's egotistical but it always brightens my day. Still love you guys, and keep uo the brilliant work x

Good to hear Leon talking about cloud gaming. I don't have an Xbox but stream on Gamepass and Geforce Now on Android modded Switch. I hope it takes off as an alternative to 'expensive' hardware.

I have been on the forum lots of times but feel a little lost there. I struggle to work out which boards are for the up coming shows. Please don't take this the wrong was as I'm sure it's just my general lack of using forums that's the reason for this. I suppose you can post about whatever game at any time but I love the thrill of having something I've written being part of a discussion on the podcast :)! I'm a huge fan of Discord but I'm not sure if the format would suit Cane and Rinse. Plus you guys already have enough on your plates I'm sure!

Not enough Rice Cooker chat. 2/10 Keep meaning to contribute more to the forum but it's cumbersome on mobile and that's where I do most of my hashing. Trying to keep the PC as work focused as possible; so no games or social media to distract from productivity.

Ben

I like the concept of cloud gaming, but where I live it’s not a real possibility for a while yet. Internet is not good enough here to play it without significant issues. It was great to be able to play some games in the hospital a few months ago even with the severe lag and poor image quality. I have a feeling companies like Microsoft want cloud gaming to be the future of gaming period, which is fine once internet infrastructure has caught up, but sucks when you find you can’t play your games when your internet goes down.

Another great podcast guys. It finally got me to watch Brotherhood of the Wolf, I really enjoyed it for all the reasons Jay mentioned.

I'll resist temptation to make Discord pleas (again!) and, instead, I'll add my voice to the "Bring back Sound of Play" crowd. I'm re-listening to them from the start and I'm sure I'm not along in saying that I would love new episodes. In my humble opinion, I think it was a case of you guys getting tired of it more than the listeners. Yes, there will be fewer listeners than the main show (it's a niche part of a niche hobby) but in my experience the people who loved it really loved it. If you enjoyed making it, what does it matter how many people listen? Also, going to weekly shows and then doing that for years would fatigue anybody. Did you ever consider going back to bi-weekly or even making it monthly? Perhaps you need a fresh host with fresh ideas (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) :)

Chris Worthington

Joking aside, I would love to see it return one day in any shape or form. A very Merry Christmas to the whole clan and many, many thanks for all the tireless hours you have injected into the show over the past year.
