Getting on for five years since our first Super Mario Kart podcast (and five years on from the release of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe), we finally conclude our series of shows on the venerable Mario Kart series. Leon, Darren, Ryan and community correspondents leave skid marks as they burn rubber back to the launch of the Wii U original, remember their many fun and furious game nights, and even attempt to embrace that incongruous Mercedes- Benz DLC.

Fantastic podcast Mario kart 8 deluxe will always hold a special place in my heart as a game my wife and I love playing and the game that made her say the cbomb to Me for the first time <3 (it’s ok guys we are Australian)

Great show guys. Mario Kart has always been a weird series for me as its nothing but good times when played with friends, but as Ryan pointed out in this episode the single player content tends to be lacking. Please Nintendo please make a diddy kong racing style of story mode in the next game if you want my money day one. As it is though im glad a lot of people seem to be enjoying this entry, and i can imagine Darren as Donkey kong and Leon as toad in my mind's eye

Excellent show. I've found myself thinking about quite a few of your points and it's made me appreciate the game a bit more. We've been playing the new tracks and for me, they're some of the best the game has to offer thus far. I'm looking forward to what comes next...personally rooting for Sunset Wilds, complete with marauding Shy Guys, but we'll see. One thing that really bothers me about MK8 is how inline bikes handle. On the Wii, I favour the Mach Bike because it lets me make some really tight turns. The way it drifts is almost the opposite of what you expect, and I love it. In MK8, there's a similar bike, but it takes a second for the drifting to 'kick in', meaning I can't go from drift to drift in quite the same way. Maybe it's just something I need to get used to.

I (still) haven't listened to this podcast but I'd like to thank the community for the Mario Kart nights over the last few months.
