Ah cool, should be a good one. Interested to hear if there are many dissenting voices on this game as I feel very much in a minority of people who really didn't like it. Still, I'd definitely give a sequel with hopefully more variety a shot. There was a lot to like about the combat and movement/abilities. Just felt very repetitive to me and the story was instantly forgettable. I couldn't even tell you what it was about now and I didn't play it that long ago.

By the way, Doom Eternal isn't cloud based on Switch. It's a native port. I think the big names on cloud are Hitman 3, Kingdom Hearts series and Control.

Listening to the end of the episode with Sankarin Tango playing you out and thinking, this game would almost justify its existence just for introducing more people to the beauty of the Finnish language in song. One thing I wish I had written in - Ahti is also the name of an ancient water god in the Kalevala, which is a collection of the oral tradition of Finnish folk tales. It is the national epic much like The Odyssey or The Aeneid. Which might draw more parallels to the hero beneath the water with the Alan Wake references. And there is a reference to a sea god in the game, as well. I would love to see Remedy get big and bold enough to start bringing more iconography and legends from the Kalevala into their games and introduce more people to them.

Even amongst the high standards of Cane and Rinse I thought this was a particularly strong issue. Having never played a Remedy game before I tried Control on the basis of some of the really interesting discourse and conversation around it. I enjoyed the game on PS5 immensely even though some elements didn’t really grab me and not much of the story has stuck with me. The conversation in this issue from all of the panellists did an excellent job in bringing out so many of the points which for some make the game great and leave others cold. It seemed like everything was covered so fairly even when panellists may not have agreed with the points of view raised. Thanks so much for a quality listen, and now I feel I have to try Alan Wake!

As luck would have it, I just finished Control. I was a fan in the early hours but honestly, the game play loop just got really boring very quickly. The variety and upgrades of your gun were minimal despite it looking like there were lots. I really wasn't a fan of the gaps between control point, making you redo lots of boring traversal. I despised the map being up on the D pad instead of select, and not being able to move around the map except for rotating through control points. Jesse's character wasn't very interesting and thus there was nothing to keep me engaged. Thank goodness it wasn't a long game. And I got it on GOG for free so I'm glad I played it for free, to know I don't like it.

I have this game on my playlist and am looking forward to it. I especially love the brutalist architecture which is a fresh aesthetic that offers an interesting playground for throwing around concrete bits! Other developers could take this as an example to find more unique environments in their games.
