As well as excitement, there was palpable trepidation when Nintendo announced that Metroid was going not only 3D, but also first-person - especially because it was being developed in tandem with an untested American team, Retro Studios. However, the resulting game - Metroid Prime - was received with almost universal praise. Leon, Brian, Karl and community correspondents recall the immersion and the atmosphere of Samus Aran's first in-helmet outing, as well as analysing how its gameplay holds up, 20 years on.Music featured in this issue:1. What a game and a superb episode. I’ve listened to it several times already. Thanks for a great episode, I loved hearing you talk about a game I really like.

I think this is destined to become an issue that gets a lot of repeat listens as with some of my favourite shows like Dragons Dogma and The Evil Within 2 to name just a couple. Just had a really great energy and discussion about a game i'm extremely fond of. I'd highly recommend checking out the DF Retro episode on Prime, it shows what a technical marvel it was.

This came with my GameCube. I still haven’t played it! This show did tickle my fancy though…
