You briefly mention it being harder to get into a show where you've no experience of the game. Speaking personally, I've found this to be the case only occasionally. But, as a father of two young children with very little time (usually an hour or so every other night) to play games, I listen to pretty much all of the Cane and Rinse episodes and really value them. They make my commute from Clitheroe to Manchester infinitely more bearable! Of course, if it's a game I've played its much easier to get enthused, but often the shows that feature games I've not played help me decide where to invest my valuable time. I guess what I'm saying is that the way you guys make the shows accessible works for me! So, thanks :) Anyway, back to Tears of the Kingdom!

Great show as always, however I take exception to Leon saying I have a bad memory. As I said to you, Leon, whilst we were climbing Ben Nevis together during the giddy heatwave of last summer, remembering things is what I'm best at.

Excellent chat from two fine gentlemen, thank you! Leon, I think you may have blocked Jay's 2012 departure from your mind due to the trauma it caused you, which is perfectly understandable. Either that, or you are an unwilling victim of the CIA's MK-ULTRA program, who cooked up a cunning scheme to create an android Jay and then brainwashed you into forgetting that Jay ever left. Either way, if you would like to hear yourself announce the sad news, simply go to 1:45:29 in the Alice: Madness Returns episode :-)

Leon, your talk of your coop playing has really made me pine for my coop days. Fell out with the group I used to coop with due to some of them having kids, some starting to be into games I’m not into, and others, sadly, because of politics. Regarding games criticism: I’m getting so tired of the FPS and bugs arguments where if it can’t do minimally 60FPS the game isn’t worth playing or if there’s just one game breaking bug the game is “shite”. I know I can sound negative about some games when talking about them with friends, but if I’m playing it, there’s something there that I love, even if some of the BS can get in the way of that enjoyment from time to time. Like, I could have definitely done without weapon degradation returning in Tears of the Kingdom, but that doesn’t mean a vast majority of those moments aren’t filled with the same wonder I had with BotW and earlier Zeldas.

Thank god somebody finally mentioned “prodeus” vs “proteus”. I kept hearing about this cool retro shooter but every screenshot I found looked like a water color painting of a field. Glad that finally clicked, and now Prodeus is in my library.

Been a while since I have dropped my ore in, but wanted to say I loved the footy chat from Leon this month. I am a Nottingham Forest season ticket holder and got a slight kick from knowing you were probably a metephorical stones throw away from where I sit, which is rather close to the away end. I am curious to what you thought about the atmosphere that day and mostly because for me it was one of the loudest of the season being that we had been on an 11 match winless streak and managed to put in a decent performance. To be fair Brighton looked leggy and knackered from their FA Cup exploits earlier in the week, but I am not about to complain as this result was one of many recently that has (as of tonight) secured our Premier League status for next season. Football can be very tribal at times and for good reason with a lot seemingly at stake. Football can also bring out a great deal of mutual respect and I have to say I have never heard a bad word said about Brighton or their fans. I do have a soft spot for Brighton mainly down to how the club is run along with their very friendly fanbase. I got talking to a few before the match this time around and they were very self deprecating whilst also incredibly proud of what the Albion had achieved in recent years. Good luck in Europe next year, I think you guys will qualify. On a side note it was also lovely to hear you had a nice time in my beloved home city as well. The Lace Market and Hockley area is a lovely little part of town with a frankly bonkers number of places to eat or drink. Were you able to pinpoint any particular highlights when it came to the food/bar situation? Hope you visit again soon!

Having just passed my mid 40’s the other week. I was thinking about how the world of video games will change over the next 40 years. What do you guys think? What will the gaming landscape look like in 2063?

Just wanted to say that with Reddit generating enough rope to hang itself with in trying to go public, spaces like this will be even more important. Also, meant to send this in to last monthly - I think Leon had brought up 'cancelled' people, and a youtuber I like, F.D Signifier actually sought some of the 'cancelled' people out. We're not talking about unredeemable ones ofc, but it is interesting how even today, people who were 'cancelled' and have moved on still get that levied against them - one lady became an author yet still gets questions/remarks about her 'cancellation': https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQQXH1AN22M
