Star Wars plus BioWare RPG sounded like manna from heaven to many of us when it was announced in 2001. Happily, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - created by a number of the same folks who had worked on the likes of Baldur's Gate II and Neverwinter Nights, was greeted rapturously. Leon, Brian, Leah and Rich (who nominated this one as his personal selection for the year's podcasts) party up to save the galaxy from the Sith menace and their deadly Star Forge. As usual we also share your memories and opinions of the game via our forum and Patreon.Music featured in this issue:1. The Old Republic by Jeremy Soule2. Ooh been looking forward to this one!

I've been looking forward to this one for a long, long time. Also, I just wanted to chime in and clarify that Baldur's Gate 2 was developed by BioWare and published by Black Isle (and Interplay). The Baldur's Gate games and Icewind Dale games utilized the same engine, and there was obviously a lot of collaboration between the two studios, but Baldur's Gate was always a BioWare development and Icewind Dale was Black Isle's. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baldur%27s_Gate_II:_Shadows_of_Amn It's interesting (and confusing) because Black Isle folks went on to form Obsidian who then made the sequels to Neverwinter Nights AND KOTOR.

Another cracking show, good job all. I'm not sure I really agree with the view that it has a slow start though. I've used KOTOR before as an example of a strong start to a game! I like the way it throws you immediately in to a crisis (see also: Halo) and does a good job at establishing the setting and the story fairly early on. I enjoyed exploring that first planet and I think the story gradually ramps up in excitement at a decent rate!
