Here's where you can contribute your thoughts and opinions for Yakuza 6: The Song of Life for potential inclusion in the forthcoming podcast.A friendly reminder that where the feedback for the podcast is concerned, we love it - but keeping it brief is appreciated. We do want to include a breadth of opinions where appropriate, but no-one wants a discussion podcast that’s mostly reading out essays. Better to save yourself time and cut to the chase if you can.

Yakuza 6 is an odd duck. As a Yakuza game I love it as much as any other in this series, but as the Final Kiryu Story Ever? Well, it certainly defied my expectations. The whole game I was convinced The Secret of Onomichi was going to have *something* to do with Kiryu, this being his Final Story and all but, no, the Secret was...a big boat. I can honestly say "Kiryu fakes his death and abandons the children who are the only thing that seem to have ever brought him real happiness in order to protect the existence of the Japanese Illuminati" was not the ending for the character I expected when I first started Yakuza Kiwami. Still, bizarre plot ending aside, it has all the things I love about the Yakuza series: the most dramatic of drama, the most comedic of comedy, ridiculous heat actions, pointless mini games, catchy karaoke songs and, most importantly, grown men using a baby as a rugby ball. RIP Kiryu. Gone forever and definitely not appearing in any more Yakuza games almost immediately.

After playing through the previous 6 Yakuza games I was starting to get bored of the series. Luckily the team at Ryu Ga Gotoku used a new engine and made everything feel fresh again: the combat, the baseball mini-game, Beat Takeshi in the cast and…the doors. Oh the doors! Never have I felt such joy in the simple process of opening a door and watching Kiryu walk through it - the seamless camera shift from entering to exiting. Every single time there was a frisson of excitement as I approached a door, and a buzz of adrenaline as I went through it to the other side. It just felt so right. The new location, onomichi, was fun and the story was bonkers, but if there’s one takeaway I have from Yakuza 6, it’s the sublime beauty of the humble door.
