After almost thirty years of (more than) annual releases, EA Sports' FIFA series of football (soccer) games ended in 2022. Leon, Chris Worthington, Tony and a team of listeners tackle every generational leap and incremental upgrade from 16-bit Mega Drive to PS5 and Xbox Series X. We remember the highs (FIFA 11) and lows (FIFA 97), the faded cover stars, the features that have come and gone and lament the death of all competition, as EA Sports FC 24 continues exactly where FIFA 23 left off.Music featured in this issue:1.  FIFA International Soccer Mega Drive title theme by Jeff van Dyck2. Don't tell David Turner you recorded this show without him 😂 Got a lot of memories of playing FIFA with my brother (in between fighting and smashing each others Lego builds...) In fact, I can't think of many other games we actually played together other than FIFA, Sensi and OG Mario Kart.

Ha, we certainly would have tried to rope Dave in if we'd known earlier that we were going to be short-handed.

I completely forgot about the sliders! They most definetly make the gameplay go however you want to play it.

Great show guys! I'm sure anyone who would have wanted to watch anything like this could have already found it themselves, but this was a fun little video to watch earlier: https://youtu.be/VjeTQO5Tpq4?si=G3b72xBHrDVyqxRp (evolution of FIFA games)

Just wanted to say well done on this show. I have zero interest in football and have never played a Fifa game in over 30 years of gaming and yet I enjoyed every minute of this episode. You must be doing something right! Keep up the great work.

Great show with a series that well deserves it’s place in cultural history. As some of you mentioned it is astonishing that there are many people who only buy a console to play FIFA. I think this is great and although I never have been a football fan myself I would never say no to a match. My only complain is that the modern controller layouts are too complicated for my taste. I am more of an arcade fan and only need the basics of sprint, shoot, pass and tackle. For 2024: more sport games please - apart from my favourite genre of racing games of course, although I cannot complain as there have been some great shows on racing games this fall. The WipEout series next year would be great though;-)

Interesting to hear how much time Leon still puts into FIFA. I guess he plays a lot of different games for Cane and Rinse but his description of playing a lot of FIFA hours on a Saturday regularly, sounds like it takes up quite a substantial amount of his regular gaming schedule.

I’ve never played a FIFA game but still found the show to be quite interesting. It’s nice to hear there are goofball moments in these games too such as running away from a ref or kicking someone upside the head on purpose xD
