Here's where you can contribute your thoughts and opinions for Into the Breach for potential inclusion in the forthcoming podcast.A friendly reminder that where the feedback for the podcast is concerned, we love it - but keeping it brief is appreciated. We do want to include a breadth of opinions where appropriate, but no-one wants a discussion podcast that’s mostly reading out essays. Better to save yourself time and cut to the chase if you can.

The Pensky File

"Into the Breach" strikes me as the epitome of video game perfection, arguably standing as the finest game of the last ten years. With the time travel aspect weaving into the gameplay, you only have yourself to blame for any mistakes (99.99% of the time anyway) in a way that brings to mind that timeless quality of chess. Its ingenious concept and mechanics shine, complemented by a storyline that enhances rather than hinders the gaming experience. The game's unlockable content is terrific, and its downloadable expansion introduces fresh aspects while preserving the essence of the original. The achievements present a well-balanced mix of attainability and challenge. Having invested over 250 hours in playing it across various systems, I continue to find it both entertaining and challenging. It's an experience boiled down to its essence with zero superfluous add-ons.

One underrated aspect of Into The Breach is just how legible and understandable its gameplay mechanics are. The numbers are small and comprehensible, the player gets previews of the precise effect each move will have, and even enemy spawns and actions are telegraphed. The design ethos feels like something out of the world of the best physical board games; simple, painstakingly-crafted mechanics combined in countless interesting ways in carefully-calibrated scenarios. No 9999+ damage numbers, opaque modifiers, and mysterious stats here!
