Wrapping up another year of Cane and Rinse podcasts, we revisit Demon's Souls, this time focusing on the PlayStation launch remake from 2020, put together by Bluepoint Games. Leon, James, Rich, Tom and community contributors drift about the Nexus, boasting of builds, strats and boss techniques. Of course we also consider the game's system-selling paint-job, and any aesthetic pros and cons that come with this comprehensive audiovisual 'glow-up'.Music featured in this issue:1. What a nice present for Christmas morning!

Great podcast, I wanted to chime in and say I really agree with Rich on Demon's Souls doing a lot of things right from the off. Dark Souls is such an acclaimed influential game that I think a lot of people forgot it's mistakes and subpar elements like most things between the Ornstein/Smough fight and the Gwen fight.

Hot take but I think I prefer the disconnected worlds to the interconnected ones of DS or Bloodborne. I loved teleporting to completely different biomes with unique enemies and vibes.

Fantastic pod. Thanks all.

Enjoyed the pod very much! Brief additional info - Berserk ran from '89 until Miura passed in 2021. It has since continued, supervised by Miura's mate with artwork by the assistants he trained up in the latter years of his life. They're attempting to follow the complete storyline that was shared with his friend many years earlier. It may never be finished but the first three arcs (of five) are extraordinary, and enormous influences on all of the Miyazaki games. Many many of the character designs, locations and themes were lifted wholesale from Berserk. It's a brutal read at times but also uplifting and powerful (as well as very silly). I've not read very much manga but this is up there as the best for me.
