What's That Trait Do? Grouch - Waffle Explains It All (Patreon)

New event, new trait!

Grouch is a trait available for Teens and Up. It is incompatible with any traits that make Sims "a good or kind person", including Good, Generous, Cheerful, Proper, Bro, Insider, Outgoing, Party Animal, and Lovestruck.

Grouches have 3 hidden motives- one for alone time, one for "being grouchy", and one for being near other Sims. They don't mind being near Sims they are friendly with, but Sims they barely or don't know bother them. Grouches prefer to be alone and get upset near other sims, and need to let their grouchiness out.

Grouches have Wants for things like Being Mean during Social Events, kicking trash cans, playing pranks, skilling mischief, and being away from others. Grouchiness is let out by performing their new Sabotage interactions.

Grouches have several new interactions:

• They can emit a Grouch Aura by clicking on themselves. This removes their negative buffs from being around others, and also pushes nearby sims to get away!

• They can sabotage breakable objects

• They can spread bugs onto plants

• They can spoil food, for some reason

• They can Research Pranks on the computer.

And each of these help them let out their grouchiness. If caught sabotaging an object, they actually get inspired. Sabotaging can also backfire on them! Elders have their own unique Aura.

Grouches have halved Social decay, and 10% faster Mischief gain. Non-Grouch Sims can gossip about them. When Sims are nice to a Grouch they get an uncomfortable buff from the kindness they don't understand- from interactions such as Loving Hug.

There are a lot of Sabotage interactions available on Holidays (Seasons) that are now also available to Grouches on said holidays. Grouches get a special buff when they get Gold on an Event, and if the guests at an event of any kind are Sad, Uncomfortable, or Angry, Grouches get a VERY strong Happy Buff.

Grouches are likely a reference to a Sims Mobile character, "The Grouch", who is obviously a reference to The Grinch. 

In essence, Grouch is what it says on the tin- it's a Sim who hates festivity and parties and social interaction, but also actively loves sabotaging them. HOWEVER, BAFFLINGLY, Not a single Holiday Tradition got updated to account for Grouches, who will get their tradition preferences from their other traits, instead. I have remedied this with a new mod!
