Grouchy Holidays! (Patreon)

Grouch is a neat new trait from the latest patch, and you can read about it here.

Weirdly, none of the Holiday Traditions were updated for Grouches, despite their entire thing being anti-holiday, in a way.

This mod gives EVERY Holiday Tradition a preference for grouches. Every single one is "Does Not Care" with the exception of Mean Gifts, Pranks, Joke Gifts, Streaking, Airing Grievances, and Drinking.

HOWEVER: The day before a Holiday with any festivity the Grouch doesn't like, they'll get a +1 Tense buff in anticipation. Day of, they'll get a +1 Angry!

BUT ALSO: The day before a Holiday with any festivity the Grouch DOES like, they'll get a +3 Happy buff, and day of, they'll get a +3 Inspired!

They're just silly buffs but I won't spoil them!

This makes Grouches more of a holiday-focused trait and less of the kind-of-odd "Prankster" that they are out of the box. Don't forget: Grouches have access to the various holiday-related pranking interactions only found on holidays!

Also, this is just sort of how this works, but you can in fact get all 4 buffs at once. If a Holiday is "Today" and your sim Likes one tradition but Dislikes another, they'll get both the +1 Negative buff and +3 Positive buff for the holiday. If there's another Holiday TOMORROW with the same things, they'll get all 4 buffs at once. That's just how the game works with this system, and I'm cool with it. So I'm letting it happen! The buffs are written in a way where they don't feel like they conflict with each other, IMO, and the benefit a Grouch gets from festivities they like is stronger than the ones for things they don't, so you still get a benefit.

Keep in mind this also affects "Hidden" or "Surprise" holidays like Talk like a Pirate day and New Skill Day. I find that sometimes these don't show up in the UI but you'll still get the relevant buffs!

FOR MODDERS: I can make a version of this that works for your holiday traditions, if you do the legwork for me. You can figure the formatting out from the snippet in the package- if you slot your holiday instances in and give them the appropriate pre-and-day-of buff tunings, I'll paste them into the package and push an update. I have no interest in doing this on my own, though, lol. You can also feel free to just make your own add-on snippet using my buff tunings, and let me know so I can link it here!
