I'm currently trying to make a mod that overhauls the Effective Skill system.

When sims experience different moods, their skills are affected. A sad sim has a -1 to Mental, Social, and Phsyical skills, but a +1 to Creative skills, for example.

I don't believe these effects are strong enough to matter, so I want to make them much more severe.

Lot51 has made me a script, and rewritten it several times, to inject my changes into the various Moods. Each Mood has its own Buff. This script lets me tell the game to add my changes, as their own buff, whenever a sim has that mood.

After a few struggles getting the code write for this to work, it's finally going in-game properly, but it's not quite there yet. Now the mood being modified doesn't work at all. Sims just don't acknowledge it. Unfortunately this part is way beyond my skill level- I'm clueless!

The bulk of the work thus far has been Lot51 providing me with this script. I've put together the buffs and changes and whatnot that the script will shove in- and will have to make plenty to make the mod itself- but all this other work is his, and I'm very grateful for it. But since I don't have a clue what I'm doing in that regard all I can do is wait patiently for his help.  I could start on making the rest of the buffs needed to make changes to how the moods affect your skill levels, but I want to get a working concept in-game before I do so.

Otherwise I don't know if what I'm doing is actually going to work at all.   I plan to overhaul every mood and how it affects skills so your sim's abilities truly feel screwed up when they're in a bad mood (and some will be empowered when appropriate!).

The game at present only affects skills in 4 chunks- Social, Mental, Physical, and Creative. But I can modify these to be more specific, so the Sad mood no longer improves cooking simply because it's under "Creative". I also want to try to remove abilities from skills, too. At present the Effective Skill System makes your sim worse at stuff depending on their mood, but that doesn't mean a lot for most skills. You'll make worse paintings, sure. But are you doing worse at...fitness? Not really. I want to try and remove the abilities you've earned.

If you're level 10 fitness and sad, I want it dropping to level 5. But I also want that to mean you can no longer do the things you learned at levels 6-10. This is far more complicated and kind of a "secondary" goal on top of just making the Effective Skill System stronger.

This is a big project but it's one I've wanted a mod for for a long time, so I hope it ends up being not only functional but actually making a difference to how the game feels.
