Update 3/12/15: Added family recipe support to relevant harvestables.

Update 10/8: Removed extra Wolfsbane package from the Vampires folder.

Update 9/26: Replaced Lily, Snapdragon, Apple, and Cherry files from Base Game for Reaper Rewards event.

Update 8/2: Removed extra resources from packages, moved Bizarre Fruit to correct folder. Delete the Bizzare Fruit package from the SEASONS folder if you redownload.

Update 6/19/24: Changed name of "onion.package" to "Harvestable_Onion_From_Waffles_Gardening_Project.package". You don't have to redownload, but you should definitely rename Onion.package to something else if you don't, and also delete the original onion.package if you do. This is because of an issue with an outdated mod reporting bot thinking it's some other onion.package by other people who also named their (now broken) mods...onion.package. Just...yeah.

Update 7/20/25: Enchanted by Nature update. Big changes, read them all here.

Waffle's Gardening Project is a large-scale Override mod that aims to make gardening less profitable, but more fun.

How does it do that?

Well, you may have noticed that you can grow a perfect plant...and then plant everything that comes out of it, instantly have 25 of the same perfect plant, and make bank every day with no work.

That's boring.

So what I've done is repriced EVERY growable plant in the game to make them sell for less money. This means that making the same amount of money you could make before requires having more plants, which means more work maintaining them, which means you're more encouraged to invest in upgrades to your farming infrastructure, fertilizers, robots, sprinklers, befriending rabbits, etc. It also makes processing produce into other things like Fizz or Wine more meaningful because you get increased profits by doing so.

Some of these changes are DEVASTATING. Things like Money Fruit dropped from 8000 to 500, which makes the Perfect Quality Price drop from 4445 Simoleons to around 300.

I tried to make the new prices "make sense". If a plant has special powers, it's worth more. If a plant grows in all seasons and thus produces more, it's worth less. This is not a hard and fast rule- sometimes I changed the price based on personal preference. A few prices are increased- all Cottage Living oversized plants are worth more now because they take a lot more work.

A vast majority of plants now sell for <10 simoleons each, and prices are "evened out" across the board so that you don't feel like you're wasting time when you grow things that aren't worth as much, instead of focusing only on the heavy hitters. Many of the expensive plants are still quite a bit more valuable, though. Their real balance changes will come in the future when I start tweaking tuning.

Note: The Spreadsheet does not include the final sale price.

The prices listed are the originals, and the new prices, but the new price is NOT the sale price. A Perfect plant sells at, on average, 58% of the price listed.

Final Sale Price is calculated based on a few factors like Plant Quality...but the multiplier is different for each plant. I have not adjusted these values yet so I can't do any math to find the Perfect Price results without actually growing them in-game.

I've also included packages that change the price of some gardening items such as the Faux Meat Wall, Vertical Planter, Garden Patches, and Sprinkler. These are found in their corresponding Pack Folders.

EVERY SINGLE FILE IS STANDALONE, NOTHING IS MERGED- so if you'd like, you can remove the changes to anything you'd like.

Not compatible with other mods that change the value of plants. Tuning Updates will not be compatible with other mods that change the tuning of individual plants. Your game will not implode, but one mod will take precedent over the other.

As of Enchanted by Nature, this mod now requires Lot51 Core library (if using Enchanted by Nature files).

At present, this version is compatible. That mod changes models/textures, but also "Seasonality" of some harvestables, which is handled in their tuning. The changes I've made so far do not affect those same tuning files. A future update will probably not be compatible, but shouldn't cause problems- one mod's tuning will simply load over the others.

Love this mod along with the Nectar Overhaul and Wild Grass rebalance... Would love to see Flowers and Fish rebalanced as well... Thanks

I thought I would stop by here to comment in case if anyone else has issues completing the two tasks presented in the Grim Reaper challenge: planting a lily and planting a snapdragon. It seems various people have issues with these two tasks whether it be a mod or a corrupted save or something. I spent the afternoon and part of the evening looking into the issue. Just like everyone else, I couldn't get those two tasks checked off. I removed 3 well known mods. Then I remembered I have this wonderful mod I downloaded from this post. On a hunch, I removed only the lily and snapdragon files from the Base Game subfolder of the Gardening Project mod folder and then reloaded my save. I was able to check those two pesky tasks off. My advice is to temporarily remove only those two files until the tasks are checked off and then put the files back in. The mod marks the plants as custom plants, and the game fails to recognize lilies and snapdragons in order to complete the tasks. Just a quick stop by to share my findings here in case if folks come here to say something is wrong or whatnot.

so I checked and I don't see it explained nor do I see someone having asked but it still seems like an obvious question (not to have to ask) but I must ask bc when it comes to mods/cc I'm only months into playing with those in my game, anyway - I downloaded the rar, I have all of the packs so do I put all of the rar contents in my mods folder or only the most recently released packs title (vampire in this case)? thanks in advance for your response :-) LOVE your mods - have a blessed day! <3

waffle_mix_ins

If you peek in the folders you'll see the files are just for each indnividual plant. They're only sorted by pack so if someone doesnt have a pack, they can exclude those files. If you want all the changes and have all the packs, just leave all the folders. If you want any specific item- like the money tree- to be the way EA made it, you can just remove that specific file.

Hi, I guess I have a clue what's going on with the Wolfsbane - you have 2 files in the archive - 1 is in the Base Game folder and 1 is in Vampires. Also they have different prices. Looks like it is a simple package conflict

starstunner

are you still updating this mod or know of alternatives. i need this in my game for my garden

Laxley

I'm wary it's a conflict on my end, but I think gardening project is currently preventing (most of?) its harvestables from being allowed secret ingredient in the new family recipes. With it installed, I can only use 6 ingredients (3 non-harvestables, basil, parsley and sage, which is what's giving me pause). Removing the mod allows ~45 secret ingredients.

waffle_mix_ins

If you're wary it's a conflict, test with only the mod installed and with no mods at all. The mod literally doesn't alter anything about harvestables but their prices.

Aaliyah Durgan

Hello!! I was just wondering if I could use this along with carls season tuner!

waffle_mix_ins

This changes absolutely nothing about plants but their prices, it should be compatible with every mod that doesn't touch the "Object Definition" and "Object Catalog" files of harvestables, which are the two that change how they behave "as buy mode objects". Mods like that adjust seasonal tuning and the actual tuning of how plants behave "as entities in the world".

Jennifer Shorey

I know its an ea bug but is there a way to address the CL issue where verdant mushrooms when harvested will revert to "wild mushrooms" which in turn cannot be used for certain recipes?

SrakaSrakasta

Hi, sorry to bother, is this mod by any chance compatible with SCCO?
