Nectar Overhaul (WIP Information, Coming Soon) (Patreon)
Content
Nectar is a lot simpler than I expected.
Value of Nectar is entirely contingent on whether the bottle is aged, how aged, whether it is open, whether it was stored in a rack, and whether or not it was aged in a basement. The Quality of nectar is entirely dependent on your skill.
The value of produce IS NOT FACTORED IN to the value of nectar. Each type of nectar has its own base value totally independent of the produce used.
This is stupid, so I am rebalancing the value of nectar across the board so that it's harder to make regardless of the produce you use to make it.
Changes Example:
Default:
3 Grapes
110 Simoleon Base Value (Normal Quality)
Half Value at Poor Quality
1.5x Value at Outstanding Quality (165 Simoleons)
3x Value with Marketable Trait
Additional Value based on Nectar Making skill and storage factors.
Modified:
30 Grapes
45 Simoleon Base Value (Normal Quality)
Half Value at Poor Quality
1.15x Value at Outstanding Quality (52 Simoleons)
1.25x Value with Marketable Trait
Additional value based on Nectar Making Skill and storage factors.
Before (No Aging):
Level 1: Poor Quality Grape Nectar, 55 Simoleons
Level 5: Excellent Quality Grape Nectar, 428 Simoleons
After (No Aging):
Level 1: Poor Quality Grape Nectar, 22 Simoleons
Level 5: Excellent Quality Grape Nectar, 134 Simoleons
You'll notice this makes the Nectar worth less than the ingredients used to produce it, even at perfect quality, and especially if you use my Gardening Project mod which makes produce worth less money. As a result, you MUST age Nectar for it to have a good value.
Now, onto aging...Aging is crazy overpowered.
Default:
Lightly Aged: 100% Value Increase
Moderately Aged: 800% Value Increase
Finely Aged: 2000% Value Increase
Modfied:
Lightly Aged: 100% Value Increase
Moderately Aged: 250% Value Increase
Finely Aged: 500% Value Increase
Aging is on a scale of 0-100, calculated invisibly in the background.
Not Aged: 0-11
Lightly Aged: 11-43
Moderately Aged: 43-49
Finely Aged: 99-100
AGING IS IMPROVED THE SECOND THE BOTTLE IS CRAFTED AT HIGHER LEVELS. At Level 5, a bottle is already Lightly Aged the second you make it, doubling its value immediately. Only one age multiplier is ever happening at a time.
So, stick with me here.
All these changes considered:
Default:
Level 1- 3 Grapes, 55 Simoleons Poor Quality, 1,100 Aged (55 x 20)
Level 5- 3 Grapes, 214 Outstanding Quality, 4,280 Aged (214 x 20)
Modified:
Level 1- 30 Grapes, 22 Simoleons Poor Quality, 132 Aged (22 x 5)
Level 5- 30 Grapes, 134 Simoleons Outstanding Quality, 672 Aged (134 x 5)
So what we see here is that even when finely aged, the new value at level 5- 402 Simoleons- is only a little under double the value of the grapes used to make it. Remember- this is the most BASIC Nectar Recipe, it's just average everyday Grapes. Higher level nectar will produce more expensive results.
But the point is, these changes make it so that you have to WORK to make profits, and a starter Nectar Maker is going to be losing money while learning the trade, instead of getting instant profit from the most basic recipe using only one harvest from one plant.
AND THIS INFORMATION IS JUST FOR GRAPES! Every single other type of Nectar (There's only 14, thank god!) will also be modified. I will probably also modify the rate of aging. I will be sure to note what is changed here. I will maybe make a spreadsheet of all changes across all types of Nectar, but hopefully I can just make the rest by changing the values "the same percentage" as these ones and it'll be easy peasy.
THESE VALUES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE AS I REBALANCE THINGS FURTHER.
But the core idea is this:
-You will not make money starting out.
-You cannot make a bottle of nectar with one measly harvest.
-Un-aged Nectar is very low value.
-You must age Nectar to make a profit.
-You will want to make a Nectar Empire and store lots of bottles to make reasonable money.
Does this sound good to you? Let me know what you think about these ideas.
This mod will release in early access. With luck, it will release on wednesday. The initial changes just to grapes took me about an hour and a half alone, but now that I understand how it all works, hopefully it won't take long to get the rest figured out. Remember: Modding is labor!
