Nectar Overhaul: How's it Play? (Patreon)
Content
I'm currently about two weeks into playing "rags to riches" with my Nectar Overhaul (and Gardening Overhaul) installed.
So how's it going?
Well, I don't grind anything. I'm not out here making tons of nectar. In fact, I only have 6 bottles (would be 7, but I left one out and it spoiled...) in storage, because the only plant I've managed to grow is Plantains. Of course this means they are not fully aged yet.
Their values are currently:
Fruit:
315
180
158
158
90
90
Grape:
275
All but one poor quality, and none finely aged yet.
Currently, that comes out to 1,266 simoleons, for about two weeks of lazy nectar making effort. A better comparison is the value of the fruit used: With my gardening mod, we're looking at 20x Plaintains for each bottle, which are only worth 2 each. That's 120 plantains, or 240 simoleons. Plus 30 grapes, which is 90 simoleons. So 330 Simoleons of fruit has gotten me 936 simoleons profit, which is pretty good! That's almost 4x the value of the individual fruit, even though my overhaul requires 30 for grapes and 20 for Fruit.
If I were playing without my gardening overhaul the values here would actually be pretty bad. But these are also poor quality nectars, so that's still fair, I think. But a lot more punishing.
Once I get higher level and the nectars start coming out higher quality as a base, it'll be much more profitable- and same goes for if I were not using my modified gardening prices. The difference there is that if you're NOT using my modified prices, your profit margins start out much thinner than mine do. But you'd be making the same money from the same nectars made with the same ingredients. The difference is in the spread.
I cheated the nectars to be fully aged, and their values become:
Fruit:
630
630
630
315
315
Grape:
330
Which goes from 1,266 simoleons and a 936 simoleon profit to 2,850 simoleons and a 2,520 simoleon profit.
Again, these are all poor/normal quality recipes, at level 1. The higher level recipes are worth more, and the higher quality bottles are worth more. So these are pretty good numbers for not-a-lot-of Nectar at Level 1.
I think so far the balance seems pretty in line with what I'd expect from a feature like this, but I need more work to know what it's like at higher levels and when producing more harvestables to make more Nectar. I think a slow escalation is a lot more fun than instant profits, so I am enjoying the speed thus far, supplemented with side endeavors like horse competitions and jobs.
