Thanks to a recent discovery, we present a rare broadcast from the very first-ever STAR WARS publicity tour featuring an interview with Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher. Recorded live on the air in June 1977 in Chicago, it’s a funny and fascinating look-back at the STAR WARS phenomenon while it was still in its infancy. And you can only hear it in it's entirety on RFR on Patreon.

I wonder if any of the callers still have the poster they received!

Kyle Burress

Great listening to this! It kind of makes you wonder if any other lost interviews are still out there from their little tour. It would be awesome if we were able to track down any of those callers and get their thoughts on how Star Wars may have affected their lives after Episodes V and VI came out, especially the guy that was so concerned about how n entire planet was destroyed! He probably wouldn't appreciate a lot of movies that have been made since!

Eric from Phoenix

This is an amazing recording! We take everything for granted now but with this interview being roughly two weeks after the movie released it's not surprising the callers didn't know the names of characters. There was so little out and most people had probably only seen the movie once or maybe twice at that point. What I can't believe is how engaged Harrison was throughout the interview. He seemed like he was enjoying the discussion / questions and I was shocked he knew the names of things like he did. Mark also impressed me with the names of characters that weren't named in the movie but maybe were in the script (dianoga)? Just an amazing time capsule of a different time. Thanks Jimmy!

I've been contemplating upgrading to full access for months. This recording put me over the edge!

Yup just logged on to say similar, They really seemed knowledgable on the characters and actors involved. I feel like most modern day stars see a role as a days pay and move onto the next without any real cares for the depth of the movie being made. Even things like knowing Antony Daniels and Kenny baker’s names etc wasn’t what i would have expected at the time.

Also great was the pre story they were aware of. For example the disfiguring of Vader’s face etc,
