TALES OF THE JEDI is an incredible sprawling STAR WARS story about Jedi Knights 4000 years prior to the adventures of Luke Skywalker. Told in the pages of Dark Horse Comics in the 90's, TALES was the first look back at the ancient history of the Jedi vs Sith conflict and introduces many amazing characters and situations in the process. RFR VIP Matthew Rooney joins Jimmy Mac to host this look back at the TALES OF THE JEDI comic line, action figures and more.

Been listening to the episode. My youngest son is named Quinlen also. He’s 10. I didn’t tell my wife I got the name from Star Wars until after we named him :p

Matrograde

Haha! My exwife let me do it because it’s a cool name. Mine is Quinlan though

This is fun, still disappointed I sold all of my comic packs when my daughter was born. :( I had them all...

Nice job, Mathew. Lot of the behind the scenes info on the Zahn and Dark Empire releases I never heard. George touching those is probably why they've always stood out.

Yeah, those are some eye-opening interviews. After Matt's last interview, I got really interested in checking out anything from Veitch and found them. He's supposed to be releasing a book soon which will detail his time working for Lucasfilm. Can't wait!

Hey, so I just wanted to say thanks sooo much for the Dark Empire interview and this one! These are some of my all time favorites now because those comics are my all time favorites. I've never heard anyone talk about them before, and I hadn't read them in years. After hearing the Dark Empire one, I was especially intrigued by hearing about those essays in the back and had to go find it. Hard find! Only first and second editions have them, and boy can they be pricey! But well worth the money. Just finished reading it (took me months to get it....) and even got my wife into reading it! And she's never read comics before! So now, after hearing this interview, I looked for the original trade paperbacks of Tales of the Jedi and bought them all. Again, a bit pricey, but I seriously can't wait. Golden Age of the Sith and the Fall of the Sith Empire have always been my favorites! Again, thank you guys so much!

I might have to go and buy the individual issues at some point now just because of all those letters from fans and the responses by the editorial teams. But also for the cover art. I was so disappointed to see in Dark Empire they didn't rerelease the cover art in the trade paperback! Hopefully the Tales ones, do.

Great job Matthew! I was a college freshman when Tales and Dark Empire came out. I think eventually knew about both of them (not a SW Insider subscriber at the time) but I never read either one of them. Now it looks like I need to add them to the list. Thanks for the detailed breakdown and discussion!

Great work, Matt! You really got me excited to reread that series. Also, I need that spreadsheet!
