Yay! As soon as I finished watching this finale, I was excited to hear RFR's take. Kudos to Jimmy Mac for correctly predicting the Boba Fett show, per his confidential source.

As cool as the Fett show will be, I don't feel like having it's advertisement appear at the end of one of the most emotional conclusions ever ala a Marvel movie was the best choice. I was in such a deeply reflective and choked up state after the episode ended, going into the credits, that I just wanted to think for a while in silence. Lol (Seriously, though.) It was that good.

Sean W. from Warsaw

If Mando can remove his helmet and get choked up, that's all the support I need for the validity of crying in Star Wars! (I'm looking at YOU Jimmy! Lol) Real men cry. :P

You know its a holiday special episode when Paul reveals his face like the Mando! Bring back influences and do one on Mando please!!!!!

I kinda like it for one reason .... this actually felt for the fans. They just had investors day where they mapped out the new shows. I'd imagine a Fett series would be more of a highlight for investors than let's say the Acolyte or Rangers of the Outer Rim. Instead they held back this announcement for the end credits on a streaming show. Just feels like the "smart choice" would have been to announce in front of investors...instead they choose this. This is the way.

I'll reiterate a point I made in yesterday's chat: This Chapter proves a point Jason made many times in response to Michael Arndt talking about TFA and not being able to use Luke because he would come on screen and overshadow the new characters. "Find better writers."

Antonio from NJ

Don't disagree but I think Mando held off to season two before introducing a litany of fan favorites for a similar reason. Let new characters have a chance to develop first. The difference imo is that TLJ didn't follow through on the reintroduction of Luke in a similar way. THIS was the Luke we all wanted to see. Do agree though.. simply put sequel trilogy needed better writers.

I don’t think I’ve ever in my life seen so many happy Star Wars fans at the same time. This show has had the most impact since the original trilogy.

Sean W. from Warsaw

It's a smart move from a marketing standpoint, no doubt. But it is a painfully temporary one. I personally don't see that teaser being attached to that episode for too long. Especially if the series is finally released to home video. I guess until then I could just pause the credits. Lol (But it was a pretty sick teaser!)

I have yet to listen to the whole episode, but I feel like Din has been very strongly impacted by the Force through Grogu. The influence the Force has had has likely changed him permanently. Going forward, I don't see him as the same person anymore. And I feel like this story is very archetypal: The hardened soldier who's seen too much having his hard heart softened by a child. The spiritual impact of this I don't think is lost on him, even if he doesn't fully understand it himself. Has anyone else gotten that inpression?

Antonio from NJ

Yeah classic tale of a harden rogue who lost their innocence making amends by saving a child aka true grit. Think a big theme of the show is where does loyalty land? We've seen mandos w loyalty to themselves (boba), loyal to a planet (bo katan) and to a creed (dinn). We've seen rebels like Cara and ones like blue. We've seen loyal imps and ex imps( mayfield). Now baby yoda is venturing down that road with the Jedi. I honestly think that baby yoda and dinn end up choosing loyalty to each other over creeds or jedi.

Sean W. from Warsaw

Really good observation! I feel like Dinn will try to keep an eye on Grogu when he could get a chance (I don't think he was just trying to comfort Grogu or himself with hollow words when he said, "We'll see each other again.") But I do get the impression Grogu is attached to Luke in the Force in a profound way we probably can't understand. Observe him reaching out to Luke on the monitor. Very strong connection in the Force to do that. And not to mention everything else. But I also don't think Grogu will forget Dinn either. :)

Rebel Force Radio

Crying at Star Wars? I simply failed to understand how some fans would get so emotionally worked up by a trailer for one of the sequel trilogy films. I felt like it was inauthentic gushing. And by the way a lot of fans dropped the sequel trilogy like a hot potato after TROS speaks volumes. Now...Crying by hardcore elements of the ORIGINAL trilogy, now that's a whole different beast.

Jason started the conversation off with a question about how these starships we are so familiar with can feel so fresh, but also be exactly what we remember. I don’t feel like we talk about the technical side of this show enough. I would say that we have never seen either of those ships in a practical dogfight and I think that’s what it was. There is a physicality to them coming from that model rig John Knoll built in his garage. It felt special when it was the Razor Crest, but using OT ships is really pushing it over the edge for me. That shot of the Slave and the Shuttle in hyperspace rocking back and forth just a little. 😘👌 Also I think I caught a boo boo. If you watch Luke’s rampage: the last shot before they do the Rogue One hallway call back, it looks like they forgot to put in lightsaber effects. The blade is like dark green and only about a foot and a half long. I think it’s the practical stand in light stick we’ve seen in the behind the features stuff from the sequel trilogy.

Sean W. from Warsaw

Sssshhh! We fans are too happy to be accepting of boo-boos in Star Wars heaven right now. Give it a while first, man! Let us savor the feeling for a time, man! Lol

Can’t wait to hear this today! Love you guys! Y’all were my top podcast in the Spotify wrapped haha ❤️❤️

I’ll save the rant but Paul’s kinda gone full gatekeeper with his whole sequel retcon thing. Bums me the hell out. It’s fine not to like something but the dude acts like TLJ should be stricken from history like something out of a mediocre Danny Boyle film. It’s just a movie bro.

Steven M DuBrey

This seems like as good a time and place to out myself as any: I don’t like Luke. He’s not a super interesting character. Outside of Empire almost all of his development happens offscreen(sound familiar?). We grew up with 20 years of EU to flesh him out and make him interesting and if you subscribe to canon, that character is gone. We need a Clone wars style republic anthology series to make the OT characters interesting again. In the mean time: give me Anakin any day of the week.

Steven M DuBrey

Clarification: none of that means I wasn’t F’n pumped to see him. He’s Luke Skywalker. It just means I want more of this back in my Star Wars.
