We visit the Mos Eisley Cantina to listen to Figrin D’an & The Modal Nodes perform a couple of memorable tracks, we visit “The Land of the Jawas”, and consider the 20th Century Fox Fanfare in a different light (and via the perspective of the Star Wars fan of 2014). Plus, unused music from the trash compactor, and the drama of a TIE Fighter attack will have you shouting “Here they come!” along with the music.

Yet another great episode of Oxygen! It never ceases to amaze me how the music of John Williams gives me goosebumps and evokes emotion in connection with Star Wars. Thank the maker that GL didn’t use modern music from the get go. It really made the experience that much more enjoyable for me.

Perfect example. The Never-ending Story while not a great film would have been far more enjoyable with a symphonic score. I hadn’t seen it in over 30yeas and watched it with my 8yo son two nights ago and it was unbearably awkward. I was imagining what John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith or even a more modern John Powell could do to bring this beautifully shot epic to life. There’s some really intense overtones in this story about loss and hope. John Williams set the bar with his work in the Star Wars legacy and has spoiled us all for all others.
